i have been skating since I learned how to walk my aunt wanted me to be a figure skator because I have the body of one exept me dad didnt have the time I am 15 and I can only skate :(
Hello, I'm planning to make a video on jumps. Now, I'm picking out jumps that are "special", e.g., "best triple loop", "weirdest double axel", "fastest rotation by my not-so-healthy eye", etc.
If you would like to participate, you can send me a message with the clip of the program, the year, the music, and the skater's last name. I'll reply what I have so far. I accept only women skaters, sorry. :(. Although I also like men's figure skating!
Its great! I used to be in figure skating I knew the moves that she did but I cant do them anymore i'm not used to the ice anymore:( But its really awesome editing
Joannie Rochette is my idol :) I'm a beginner figure skater...just started and I'm 14...I'll never be as good as she is...she is so graceful and beautiful on the ice, and her smile after she completes a routine is gorgeous
@christmaszorro, Joannie is extremely talented and probably has the most difficult programs on the circuit. She normally completes 7 triples, 4 doubles, difficult sit-spins and her choreography is incredibly complicated and demands a lot of energy. Your hate-obssession with Joannie is disgraceful and makes you completely blind to the fact that Joannie is currently one of the 3 best skaters in the world. And by the way, she is ranked second in the world right now by the ISU.
@christmaszorro, you are an absolutely and utterly ignorant fool. You have posted the same lies over and over again on many of Joannie's videos. There are 8 international competitions every year. Skaters normally particiapate in 4 or 5 events every year. Just go and check on Wikipedia and read Joannie's page before posting your atrocious comments. Just in the last 4 years, out of the 17 events that Joannie participated in, she was on the podium 12 times.
You showed real sportsmanship in Vancouver. I was crying for a long time after your performance. I luv you and respect you so much! I hope to see you in next season.
well, she is a great skater , no doubt, but not to the point of getting bronze. But we already know that all the skaters suddenly get higher scores when competing in their countries. It's not strange.

What was the performance/ program she was skating at 1:52? Really wanted to take another look at the stop she did there.
These olympics were filled with a myriad of touching stories, it has to be said. Even though my love of figure skating makes me biased, hers really tugged on my heart strings. Just a truly horrible circumstance for such a phenominal athlete.
It was a pity award. I feel sorry for her for loosing her mother but she did not skate well enough to earn a bronze medal. She has never placed that high in any international competition before (and she has competed in plenty) and never will again because she received a PITY medal. I was bored watching her skate, nothing that extraordinary like Kim Yu-na or Mira.
You are again stupid she came second in the worlds competition, so that's not internattional, like l said shut up she is grieving the loss of her mother for christ sakes and all you ignorant people just want to talk trash because you dont know a thing about figure skating
Elements are flawless for Joannie, she's has the package, if she was flawless in her freeskate she would have won the silver medai, the japanese girl that came second could not even congradulate Joannie of Yuna Kim, Yuna kIM Is the best in the workd a gold at worlds and a gold at the olympics, if all of this with joannie had not of happened l believe she could of beat nowa sada, she is a good skater yes but does she have a nice personality absolutely not she acted like a bitch on the podium,
This is still making me sick, people saying she didn't deserve her medal even though its a week after thge olympics, Mirai would of got bronze if her SHORT PROGRAM was better. Rochette had an amazing short program and a very well executed free skate. Thats why she got the bronze!
Yes she is a fantastic figure skater, but given her competition she did not perform to podium level. She has NEVER placed on the podium on any international level competition before(& probably never will again)& there is a reason for that. Her competition,Kim Yu-Na & Mao Asada are sensational & flawless.Rachel Flatt landed all of her difficult jumps solidly,Joannie almost fell twice.Politics is not supposed to come into play when scoring but in history the scoring has been corrupt & they are human.
@christmaszorro Okay, are you a figure skater? hopefully you are. Cause i am too. You are totally correct about Kim Yu-Na and Mao Asada, but no about Rachel Flatt. Rachel Flatt just was not ready to place at the olympics, she just didn't have the experience nor was graceful enough. Her jumps were good, but if you are a figure skater you should know jumps are not everything! You need to have rhythm, and be dramatic and graceful. Which Joannie did to a T
And what was the news that had the journalists buzzing? Russell said it was Lysacek winning the free skate and Mao Asada (pictured above) not being downgraded for what looked like two-footed or cheated landings on her jumps.
i'm a guy... and Joannie was able to catch my attention and make me appreciate figure skating for its sheer majesty which other skaters cant. i think that speaks volumes
You have nothing to do? Please stop copying and past over and over the same message. From what I know judges from everywhere was in Vancouvert and they did a great job.
But the level of difficulty & the types of mistakes were different. Joannie almost fell twice on her landing. Rachel Flatt's jumps were harder & she landed them solidly. Mirai's mistakes were not as obvious as Joannie's but they deducted more or well lets say they deducted less for Joannie's. Lets face it the scoring is done by humans & they are emotional and sympathetic, but these competitions (in theory) are supposed to be free from political and emotional influence...it was a pity medal.
shut your mouth ladybird, you obviously dont have any clue about figure skating like a stated to another idiot who made comments about Joannie, HAVE YOU HEAR OF TECHNICAL REPLAY JUDGING AND AUTOPLAY TO SEE IF JUMPS ARE CHEATED OR NOT THE AMERICAN GIRL AND MIKI ALL CHEATED THERE JUMPS JOANNIE ROCHETTE IS THE QUEEN OF CANADA AND SHE IS NOT A JUMP CHEATER SO SHUT UP
Since when has the judging in figure skating ever been unbiased? Emotional biases played a huge factor in her bronze medal win. I am not saying that she isn't a great figure skater, but on an international competition level she as never & will never place on the podium...I believe the highest she has ever placed was 10th & there is a reason for that, she has really tough competition (Kim Yu-Na, Rachel Flatt, & Mao Asada are sensational & flawless).
I agree with some of what you are saying.Joannie's skating was beautiful though, true it was not up to par with her competitors & it definitely was not podium worthy but the judges are human not machines & humans are to emotional & bias. History has shown that figure skating judges are corrupt, that is why they have changed the scoring system over 3 times.Joannie skated amazingly considering her emotional pressure but I bet she will never place on the another international podium again.
I think she dont deserve the bronze. her jump is tumbling .. the jugde gave the medal to her cuz of the death of her mother ,, 1 of the america should have won the bronze
Who ever made this video you are truely amazing and have done a fabulous job, and who ever is making the bad comments about her not deserving bronze at the olympics, have you ever heard of video play back/technical video, it stops cheated jumps, so from the TV it call look all good then the downgrades come, Joannie is no cheater, she is amazing and OUR Canadian champion we love her, my daughter is 10 years old has her autographed picture by her bed WE LOVE HER AND OUR PRAYERS ARE WITH HER,
I want everyone in this world that it took alot of courage and strength for Joannie to follow through and skate in the Olympics we love her and are praying that she stays strong for herself and her father, we hope and pray she does not retire she is our Canadian Princess.
I agree. That is why these women are Olympic champions they all have such a strong drive and ability to perform through such obstacles, be that injury, pressure, emotional issues, and they all have. It is incredible what these Olympic competitors are capable of.
Joannie is not a cheater, but I think that the Olympic judging is flawed.
Um, you're wrong, she has placed on the podium at International levels - world champs and grand prix events, including several golds in grand prix. Look up her wikipedia page.
@christmaszorro she came 2nd at worlds in 09'... bronze at the grand prix final...and 11 grand prix medals... correct me if im wrong but that would be placing on the podium at several internationals...
First of all this video is amazing! The Olympics have really opened my eyes to some of these athletes that I haven't heard of as well I'm starting to appreciate all sports now. And for all of you who think Mirai got robbed you need to remember they mark SHORT PROGRAM AND THE FREE PROGRAM. Rochette's Short Program was near perfect and Mirai had a few errors. This is the reason Mirai didn't get Bronze. She will though have her time, I can see her having Gold in 2014, but for now GO JOANNIE!
I like the way you worded your statement. You took something negative & that disagreed with & turned it into something positive and worded it in such a way as to not lash out at others you disagreed with, it was very intelligently worded, thank you for that. Now, Joannie has NEVER placed on the podium in any international level competition before(& probably never will again)& there is a reason for that. Her competition,Kim Yu-Na, Rachel Flatt & Mao Asada are sensational & flawless.
I think that Mirai could've gotten bronze if her short was better. Mirai definitely had the better free program, but her short program could've been better. but GOO JOANNIEE!
Cool, thanx. I still think that to most untrained eyes, Mirai seemed to shine more on that night... but I'll be the first to admit that I don't fully understand the point system employed. I suppose that Mirai's mistakes just seemed more understated than Joannie's. Thanx again.
True Mirai is not as experienced as Joannie but she looked more graceful then Joannie (and a lot of that has to with the body type and agility). WIth regards to Joannie's bronze medal, politics/emotions are not supposed to come into play when scoring but in history the scoring has been corrupt & they are human.
Quel beau vidéo! Très beau montage pour une athlète extraordinaire. Que de courage, de force et de détermination. Une vraie source d'inspiration! Joannie, le monde entier est fier de toi, ta médaille de bronze, c'est la plus belle qui soit :)
Thistime, a lot of scores of skaters are amusing. It is too high and too low. However, it is not in her responsibility. They are the responsibilities of judges who go mad. Please bless her. By the way, does she retire?I am Japanese. It is not good at English. Someone, please give the answer to me in easy English. I want to see her performance more.
maryskater9 you are my idol. that was beautifully expalined and completely and totally correct. watch joannie skate and then mirai. does mirai have the same complexity? the same beauty? the same elegance? the same emotional depth and meaning? no she does not. she is an AMAZING technical skater but that is all which is perfectly ok considering her age. figure skating is not all about the technical elements its that overall performance and joannies was much better.
@maryskater9 --totally agree with your comments. There will always be people who disagree because of THEIR lack of objectivity. 'finalmattasy' profile is full of Japanese references so she obviously feels cheated and is taking things personally. These Olympics were judged much more objectively and fairly than any other Olympics.
Actually I'm a white Canadian male who just doesn't understand the sport =). The most of the people I've heard from seem to agree that Mirai was robbed. Then again most people don't understand how the sport is scored, I think Mirai did look better on that night (less slips).
My japanese interests don't have to do with this dealio though.. I thought Mirai had an annoying fake smile and I was naturally more emotionally invested in Joannie, I was only really blown away by Kim. Thanx to Marys8r.
Tu es devenue une inspiration pour tous et je crois que ce que tu as réussi a faire modifiera l'attitude de beaucoup de gens, dont moi, par rapport au défis à réaliser dans l'adversité.
i was watching the Winter Olympics, and when she came and they said that she recently lost her mum, i was like woah :OOOOOOOOOO i would neverrrr be able to do that, she is so brave ((((:, did she get the bronze?
Way to go Joannie, I always had my family on my case about why I liked to watch the Winter Olympics, well, your story was the most inspiring, and I cant believe how strong you are. Thats what the Olympics are all about, the moments, not the medals, and I am a new Joannie Rochette fan, so much strength in that woman, If I can aspire to have at least half of her strength, then my life would be worth while... thank you Joannie. Muahhh!!!!
It's a very tragic story, and it's inspiring, she worked so hard for that. regardless of the circumstances. it's horrible what happened, shes one strong girl, and i admire her for that shes a true role model, she floats like and angel just like pilzepie said, she deserved that medal.
artistiqperformance she deserved that medal, I really doubt that the judges said "oh the poor girls mother died, lets give her that medal" she worked just as hard as the next girl, she performed beautifully, and she deserved every bit of that bronze medal.
What are you talking about Jennings? Practically our whole hovkey team is from Canada? Yer fuckin stupid. Our Hockey team comes from Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin. NoDak, and Mass. Do a little research ya fuckin Hanyauk
Great video and a wonderful tribute to her courage for continuing to compete after such a tragic lose. However, it does not justify her being GIVEN the bronze metal. Her story would be just as inspiring if she had been judged fairly and awarded what her performance deserved: 6th place after Mirai Nagasu, Rachael Flatt and Miki Ando.
She did a wonderful performance and was ahead by enough points in the short program to make up for anything in the long. Her program was actually quite difficult and she executed it very well.
This girl is absolutely beautiful, she floats like an angel, and her mother is turning over in her grave after that performance. Bravo Joannie, le quebec t'ADORE!
I'm in the USA but, despite her problems, Canada seems to produce one great hero after another. So many of our funniest comediens, best actors, best musicians and greatest athletes are from Canada. Practically our entire hockey team is Canadian, even though they compete for the USA. We LOVE Canada. We should do more to build a better relationship with Canada. Joannie Rochette is one of the best examples of Canada's greatness.
Felicitations Joannie pour sa performance superbe et medaille bronze ce soir. For her courage, she's made a new fan of me. :') Beautiful, emotional montage. Well done.
Wow malgré le drame qui vient d'arriver dans sa famille, elle a eu le courage de continuer la compétition pis elle a gagné la médaille de Bronze. I'm sure every Canadians are proud of her!
I have met Joannie Rochette in person! no joke!

And agreed, Joannie is a champion and is loved by many.

I want everyone in this world that it took alot of courage and strength for Joannie to follow through and skate in the Olympics we love her and are praying that she stays strong for herself and her father, we hope and pray she does not retire she is our Canadian Princess.
haileyskatergirl1 2 years ago

She has NEVER placed on the podium on any international level competition before(& probably never will again)& there is a reason for that. Her competition,Kim Yu-Na & Mao Asada are sensational & flawless.Rachel Flatt landed all of her difficult jumps solidly,Joannie almost fell twice.Politics is not supposed to come into play when scoring but in history the scoring has been corrupt & they are human.
christmaszorro 2 years ago
Um, you're wrong, she has placed on the podium at International levels - world champs and grand prix events, including several golds in grand prix. Look up her wikipedia page.
0800SNORT 1 year ago

She will though have her time, I can see her having Gold in 2014, but for now GO JOANNIE!
mesich22 2 years ago
I like the way you worded your statement. You took something negative & that disagreed with & turned it into something positive and worded it in such a way as to not lash out at others you disagreed with, it was very intelligently worded, thank you for that. Now, Joannie has NEVER placed on the podium in any international level competition before(& probably never will again)& there is a reason for that. Her competition,Kim Yu-Na, Rachel Flatt & Mao Asada are sensational & flawless.
christmaszorro 2 years ago
I think that Mirai could've gotten bronze if her short was better. Mirai definitely had the better free program, but her short program could've been better. but GOO JOANNIEE!
blahblahisluv 2 years ago
Cool, thanx. I still think that to most untrained eyes, Mirai seemed to shine more on that night... but I'll be the first to admit that I don't fully understand the point system employed. I suppose that Mirai's mistakes just seemed more understated than Joannie's. Thanx again.
finalmattasy 2 years ago
True Mirai is not as experienced as Joannie but she looked more graceful then Joannie (and a lot of that has to with the body type and agility). WIth regards to Joannie's bronze medal, politics/emotions are not supposed to come into play when scoring but in history the scoring has been corrupt & they are human.

Congratulations Joannie!!
I want to see her performance more.

maryskater9 you are my idol. that was beautifully expalined and completely and totally correct. watch joannie skate and then mirai. does mirai have the same complexity? the same beauty? the same elegance? the same emotional depth and meaning? no she does not. she is an AMAZING technical skater but that is all which is perfectly ok considering her age. figure skating is not all about the technical elements its that overall performance and joannies was much better.
kateryna1291 2 years ago
@maryskater9 --totally agree with your comments. There will always be people who disagree because of THEIR lack of objectivity. 'finalmattasy' profile is full of Japanese references so she obviously feels cheated and is taking things personally. These Olympics were judged much more objectively and fairly than any other Olympics.
thdallas 2 years ago
Actually I'm a white Canadian male who just doesn't understand the sport =). The most of the people I've heard from seem to agree that Mirai was robbed. Then again most people don't understand how the sport is scored, I think Mirai did look better on that night (less slips).
My japanese interests don't have to do with this dealio though.. I thought Mirai had an annoying fake smile and I was naturally more emotionally invested in Joannie, I was only really blown away by Kim. Thanx to Marys8r.

Muahhh!!!!

It's a very tragic story, and it's inspiring, she worked so hard for that. regardless of the circumstances. it's horrible what happened, shes one strong girl, and i admire her for that shes a true role model, she floats like and angel just like pilzepie said, she deserved that medal.
phunkyyall 2 years ago
artistiqperformance she deserved that medal, I really doubt that the judges said "oh the poor girls mother died, lets give her that medal" she worked just as hard as the next girl, she performed beautifully, and she deserved every bit of that bronze medal.
phunkyyall 2 years ago
What are you talking about Jennings? Practically our whole hovkey team is from Canada? Yer fuckin stupid. Our Hockey team comes from Michigan, Minnesota, Wisconsin. NoDak, and Mass. Do a little research ya fuckin Hanyauk

Absolutely beautiful!!
Loaki00 2 years ago
Great video and a wonderful tribute to her courage for continuing to compete after such a tragic lose. However, it does not justify her being GIVEN the bronze metal. Her story would be just as inspiring if she had been judged fairly and awarded what her performance deserved: 6th place after Mirai Nagasu, Rachael Flatt and Miki Ando.
artistiqperformance 2 years ago
She did a wonderful performance and was ahead by enough points in the short program to make up for anything in the long. Her program was actually quite difficult and she executed it very well.
lydia1234567 2 years ago
This girl is absolutely beautiful, she floats like an angel, and her mother is turning over in her grave after that performance. Bravo Joannie, le quebec t'ADORE!

I'm in the USA but, despite her problems, Canada seems to produce one great hero after another. So many of our funniest comediens, best actors, best musicians and greatest athletes are from Canada. Practically our entire hockey team is Canadian, even though they compete for the USA. We LOVE Canada. We should do more to build a better relationship with Canada. Joannie Rochette is one of the best examples of Canada's greatness.
