In Australia around 90% of chemical engineering jobs for graduates involve relocation for a minimum of the first ten years of their careers. A friend of mine who's a university medalist for chemical engineering at UNSW is working in a job that's completely unrelated to chem eng because competition for the jobs that dont relocate you is a bitch.
Now i know why chemical engineering graduates get paid so much.

You have a wide range of operations, and somehow it seems to have a percentage people who go out of the straight core of the engineering space and into other areas. So my CFO in my first job was an electrical engineer, he was a CFO and an excellent CFO. I know of a lot of such people. Not of a lot of chemical engineers...
