  • This vid is cut short and the sound isn't as good as the same one put up by cerebralparsley without the excellent end cut out two minutes longer Rocks

  • I miss the days when the person with their name on the band was the most talented in the group, not just the one who owned the PA.

  • What's the purpose of the casio organ. It makes it sound like it's from Sesame Street or something!!!

  • excelente me gusto mucho

  • FUCKING AWESOME SONG!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • that was so fucking cool!

  • yeeeeah wheres my bong??

  • ooooooohhhhh this is so awesome! words cannot describe....

  • This has got to be among the best rock instrumentals ever - right up there with "Hocus Pocus" by Focus. Coincidentally, both are perfect for the 2am to 6am slot.

  • la cago de increible...

  • This is how shit was done back in the day. Nowadays youngsters think they're talented by barking off rhymes in a mike....FUCKING PITIFUL! Longlive the 70's!

  • you've obviously never listened to sage francis

  • My 8-track tape of They Only Come Out At Night, lasted me a long time. One of my favorite songs ever.

  • 8 track ....album...cassette....cd......digits..

u tube and now down load!

  • I'm sure everyone knows that is Rick Derringer on the guitar.

  • Holy Tiger! Now he's doing a mother trucking drum solo!

  • lol

hes one crazy looking talented gadgy

  • hes an albino not even kidding

  • Oh my God, he has a f**king saxaphone too. Is there no end to this man's talent?

  • the 70 gen had such talent never so seen by new school

  • The talent is just unspoken of.

  • There is a much shorter version of this out there somewhere. I admit that this is a great song, but this is just a little bit of overkill.

  • Dude, it's Edgar Winters, the coolest Albino ever, right after his brother Johnny, there's no such thing as overkill with those two.

  • Fucking Favorited!

  • My thoughts exactly

  • Frankenstein! Is most definately one of my favorite classic rock songs, Edgar Winter and his band are talented, Very talented! Edgar played the hell out of the timbales, The dude is good!

  • thanks for postin

  • This song is the answer to everything.

  • AWESOME THIS IS THE BEST 5/5!

  • The guy with the synth just looks so out of place..

  • You mean Edgar Winter?......

  • He does look gay...

  • Edgar Winter? Didn't everyone dress weird in the 70s? Man you people are stupid.

  • No, not everyone dressed weird in the

70's. The rest of his band didn't look like cross dressers

  • Cross dresses? I don't think so. Most bands dressed on the 70s: Alice Cooper, David Bowie, Rush, Black Sabbath, Sweet, Rolling Stones, Slade, T Rex, Ted Nugent, etc. A lot of bands dressed like nut cases or cross dresses but that was what sparked controversy during the time (which helped them reach fame).

  • I'm gay for Edgar

  • great song, great band

  • Its awesome seeing people at the top of their game! They killed it!

  • Wow this shit is pretty hardcore for a song that came from the 70's.

Just listen to the first few minutes.

Those tunes are still reminiscent in most hard rock bands today.

  • are you serious? music in the 70s was VERY heavy baybeh.. haha

  • Edgar Winter rocks the shit out of a keytar

  • You cut part out of your original post! Why?

    It was better before.

  • that is prety good music

  • YEAH!

  • Fuck yeah!

  • they look absolutely retarded but sound awesome...

  • and your look now,....is absoluty retard too for people within 30 years in the future.

Now they are strange, but 30 years ago, people wearing so today was like watching a guy with wide trousers and a cap with the visor bent.

  • ahhh lame. 6:48 they cut out the cool filter sweep part in the middle. the classic "frankenstein" effect...

  • thias sia wsome but kinda odd it said one person solo it is two (drums)

  • Simply Timeless. thats all that needs to be said of this.

  • Awesome! Actual MUSICIANS playing instruments (and multiple ones, at that) and making MUSIC! Sure not like the "noise" we're mostly hearing these days....

  • omg. Rick Derringer on guitar. that brings back memories. lol. thx for sharing this.

  • Just awesome! I love long instrumental work-outs and this is one of the best. There is no chance any "live/as live" music show would allow a band nearly 10 mins of airtime these days, sadly.

  • hey this was the "shit" back then ...meaning if you were there when it first came out ...it was "BAD FUCKIN ASS" i loved it then and it still kicks ass

  • You are all a bunch of idiots cuz this is the coolest sh' ever! Especially with Derringer on guitar, a mix of jazz fuck rock and yes even metal you dumb asses. Notice the drummer is actually PLAYING the drums & not beating the hell out of 'em like most supposedly great rock/metal drummers of today do.

  • it ant song dumass its nusic.... good though

  • Haha they all look like girls. I still think this song is cool though.

  • Fuck YOU!

  • =] cool

  • AWESOME THIS IS THE BEST 5/5!

  • Learn the proper names of instruments-Those are "timbales", NOT "little conga drums"; Lord, please help those who are ignorant.....

  • Relax, buddy.

  • Well, obviously you are my gradeschool music teacher in disguise because...NOBODY ELSE WOULD CARE.

  • YOU are about the gayest person ever

how can you not like this song

i saw some of the videos you had or w/e

and you need to start listenin to some more complicated music

dont be mad that he can play more instruments than you could ever play

  • Fuck off douchebag

I don't like this song because the guys a joke.

What I litsen to is perfectly fine, and if your saying that the Air Raid Siren is crap, you have to be the gayest person on Earth. And I admit, I can't play the sax or the keyboard, but at least I'll never be THAT. So why don't you take yourself and the handfull of people that think that Edgar Winter is talented, and go fuck yourselves.

  • whos air raid siren?

  • air raid siren= Bruce Dickinson

He got that name alegedly in college when him and his friends were seening if they could shatter glass by hitting a high note with their voices. Bruce was the only one who was able to do it, so his friends gave him that name as a joke.

  • wow u no alot about this guy? Im gonna look him up... is he good?

  • Yeah, in my opinion he's really good. But thats not about Frankenstein. All Im saying is that I didn't like one little thing in the song. Otherwise, I think this is a really good song. Thats all im saying.

  • Edgar Winter is EXTREMELY talented. It's amazing that you don't see it.

  • As if anyone gives a flying fuck about anything you have to say!

  • Jeez, people here can't take a comment.

  • To check out Rick Derringer listen to, 'All-American Boy".

  • This is a real good classic band!! i like free ride.

  • pent

  • sick one piece...

  • Back when Rock was a true art form.

  • Luke Skywalker or not, this was a time when guys could actually play the instruments in thier hands.Today there is no one worthy of holding a Les Paul let alone "attempting" to play it.70's rock rules.

  • These guys could play, I remember seeing them on both Soul Train and American Bandstand.

  • I like after he summons Satan when he teleports across time and space to appear back at his drum area.

  • lol, love the way he trashes his keyboard and then helps out on percussion for the outtro -- f***ing Thank You for posting!

  • Dad prog funk, yay! These guys have a lot of talent for sure, but this is undeniably dated.

  • It's pretty fuckin' funny that a legendary video like this gets so many adolescent comments!

  • use the force luke lol awesome jam though

  • "I didn't know Luke Skywalker played guitar!"

    ROFL

  • haha yes it does look like luke...

the guys name is rick derringer...a legend in his own right...

  • jetcarjohnny: lol

    This tune kicks ass.

  • I didn't know Luke Skywalker played guitar!

  • Hell, I am already waiting for a bug eyed maiden in my closet. I am plenty ready to die. Bring it on.

  • all of them look creepy. But a true classic. Keytars rule

  • Define creep please. This was one hell of a piece. Don't care how they looked. My sixteen year old son did not realize that Winter is albino. He thought he had bleached hair.

  • wish i had a synthesizer like that

  • you wish you had a crappy old synth?

cant you get a cheap one and just bolt a strap on it?

  • i guess so.

  • KEYTAR!!! ROCK!!!

  • The guy with the black Les Paul... at times he looks REALLY creepy

  • his name is rick derringer, check out rock and roll hoochie koo with the extended solo he's awsome!!!

  • that last part when he`s beating the shit out of the keyboard, its kinda creepy

  • Frankenstein was kind of a creepy monster-dude. This is a personal thing but I think Justin Timberlake is kinda creepy.

  • moron.

  • Awesome.

  • Yes, Edgar & Johnny Winter are albinos, Texas gentlemen, beyond brilliant geniuses and KILLER MUSICIANS!!! Edgar can play Rock, Blues, Jazz, Be Bop and anything else you can think of. So can Johnny althought his main thing nowadays is Blues, Blues and more BLues. The drummer is Chuck Ruff who lives in Reno now and had his excellent Chuck Ruff Band together.

  • this is my favorite song of all time

  • that was sick. i had no idea that edgar winter was this raw; thanks for the education....

  • If you squint really hard, Edgar kind of looks like Britney Spears.

  • I think he's albino.

Either way tho, he can fuckin play:)

  • LOL

  • Holy shit! I remember watching this on the "Old Grey Whistle Test" when I was 15. It impressed me so much I've never forgotten it. Wonderful to see it again. What incredible energy in an empty t.v studio....who's the drummer? He's good...

  • I thought there were only 2 Whistle Test compilation DVDs. I have them and neither has this clip.

  • I acan't believe how much he sped up the drum solo.

  • This is simply as good as it gets. These mofo's rock. Edgar Winter is pure talent and Rick Derringer is simply amazing, ahead of their time for sure.

  • if you look at the sketch "empty room" on snuff box this is what they copyied of

  • this is awesome. I have it on DvD from the best of the Old Grey Whistle Test. Lots of other great performances on it.

  • winter is the epitomy of man

  • wow, incredible

  • Simply, Wow! :-) Thanks for sharing. I never seen this, and glad I have.

  • And Dan Hartman on bass!

  • I was 18 years old when this song came out. I had my stereo upstairs cranked to the max. Near the end of the song my mother comes running into the room and yells: "Your stereo is blowing up... turn it off... turn it off... hurry... HURRY!" I laughed till I nearly collapsed.

  • jesus...edgar plays everything!!!!!

  • He's, like, 10 people at once.

  • I don't want to belittle today's rock bands. There are some good ones. However youngsters, these are what us old geezers call "musicians."

  • Amen to that!

I've always know Edgar Winter played saxophone and keyboard, but I had no idea he is such a good percussionist.

  • Lord, I'm only ninteen and I prefer this to anything today has to offer, unless it's a Japense artist like Gackt or Dir En Grey. THIS is music, ya'll, not 'Fergie' or 'Green Day'. THIS is what I mean when I say those other bands- and the 'American Idol' wanna bes- are fake.

  • SO INNOVATIVE FOR THE TIME~~~ PARTY ON !! lOOK HOW SMALL RICK DERRINGER IS .. LIKE 5' 2// POWERHOUSE THOUGH... PLAY THAT SYNTH POP MAN !!

  • pekoe, I agree, but I'd say that a lot of innovation was going on then. The bar was set very high. I dare say the 70's was a golden era for Rock.

  • I believe that was Ronnie Montrose on guitar. I have an old copy of their album on vinyl.

  • NO ITS LIL RICK HA HA HA,, FER REAL

  • I stand corrected - that was Rick Derringer - I just saw the interview years later with Edgar Winter

  • edgar is the mad scientist of rock and roll.

  • That's the best description I've heard of him. Awesome.

  • Abso-Fing-lutely!

  • so early 70's ROCK THE HELL ON!!!! THE TRUTH MAN !!!

  • Edgar Winter Group.

    Rules.

Hey, some of the older bands are great, yeah? :)

  • Yes, really GREAT.
