  • So there are no democratic voting Catholics or members of the Armed Forces? Members of the Tea Party did recently boo loudly at an active member of the Armed Forces during a Republican debate. Lots of right wing Protestants really hate the Pope and Catholicism and go as far to claim the Pope is the antichrist. All the "In God we Trust" and "Under God" were added almost 200 years after the founding of the country (in reaction to Communism). The country was founded on Enlightenment principles.

  • Americans open your eyes. This is because the Jesuits have virtual control of this country, particularly the military. GWB & his Jesuit cohorts ARE the New World Order. Ask yourself if you want your sons and daughters dying for Holy Roman Empire New World Order. Oh, well, maybe you think it's good? Go get an older history book before they got control of the textbooks and then ask that question again. My God is not the Pope and you should be vomiting at this blasphemy.

  • I'm a 30 year old man, and this song makes me weep...

  • This rendition still makes me cry. "As He died to make them holy, let us die to make them free." Beautiful.

  • @PrettyinPolitics Yes, I love the way the woodwinds back up the first verse.........I have sangen this before and it is

quite emotional to be a part of it..........

  • It's not about who's side God is on, but who is on God's side.

  • Makes me proud to be an American. I have never been so moved by any of our countires music as this. Outstanding!

  • This is the best version of the song I have been able to find. This is probably the last time it will be sung at the White House for a while. It's a bit too religious for the new administration. God Bless America.

  • what a breath-taking rendition!

    what a breath-taking event!

    God Bless America !!

  • This is so heart warming! This will live in history and I'll remember it for as long as I live.

  • Hey stupid, he's not wearing a hat.

  • No...never actually

  • Stop polluting this page sizzle2. Nazi excrement.

  • I apologize to attack you personally when I see this all the time. I doubt that you could be a worse sinner than I am.

  • It's a sin against hope among other things to put almighty God and Christ into the hands of some politican some where.

What a terrible terrible terrible sin.

  • No one is claiming God for the Republican party, if you read the title and description. The liberals and democrats are trying to disown God in every facet of America life, and I am pretty sure God doesn't agree with the liberals and democrats on partial birth abortion.

  • Rarosera:

12% of the 300 Protestant clergy surveyed admitted to sexual intercourse with a parishioner; 38% acknowledged other inappropriate sexual contact in a study by the United Methodist Church, 41.8 % of clergy women reported unwanted sexual behavior; 17% of laywomen have been sexually harassed. Meanwhile, 1.7% of the Catholic clergy has been found guilty of pedophilia. 10% of the Protestant ministers have been found guilty of pedophilia. Why not harass the Protestants?

    Viva la Papa!

  • "10% of the Protestant ministers have been found guilty of pedophilia."

    Thou shalt not lie.

  • jmaschle - Considering that 1.7 of the Catholic clergy ammounts to a far higher number than 1.7 of Protestant clergy, I think you point is very weak. Plus you fail to take into account that THIS pope was in charge of the internal policies that ensured priests were moved from diocese to diocese (not just Parish to Parish, as was done before he took over as head of policy) as soon as 'rumours' were detected, so you see, this circumvented official investigations. This is not a GOOD man.

  • I don't like McCain at all, however you should be fair when you are criticizing someone. McCain hadn't attended hagee's services. And he certainly hasn't attended them for 20 years, nor was he married by him and his kids weren't baptised by Hagee.

  • That's not what I said. I said, McCain and his mentor, Rev. Hagee, don't like Roman Catholics.

  • right, that's a lie, Hagee isn't his mentor simply an endorsement.

  • Nonsense, McCain groveled before Hagee.

  • This was so moving. Thanks for uploading it!

  • I don't get it. the democrats don't like the pope? or they just don't like that song?

  • some Liberal dems tend to forget this country is a Republic. not a democratic country.

  • well i am sure plenty of Southerners detest this song

  • Very moving and inspirational.

  • "Shocked...shocked I am that CNN would air this.....this blatantly patriotic drivel, especially for the two biggest Nazis on Earth."

    I'd say, if I were a Liberal.

  • Beautiful vid, thanks for posting!

  • " nailed him to the bed last night."

What can you say to one so young, so empty, and so stupid?

Nothing much that would make any difference to such a vacant soul.

  • This sick individual has no soul. Sad, but true. He will find out how wrong he is and suffer for it. Too bad.

  • You're a confused little boy, I actually feel sorry for people like you.

  • You sir are destined to become a Christian or a crazy person(Your're halfway there), And Yes there is a difference.

  • God bless America and God bless the pope! Why is Bush the only president ever with enough guts to welcome a pope like this? Or enough guts to stick to his convictions? If only we could have more presidents like him!

  • go suck a dick liberal letist cunt

  • and that's exactly what id expect from a liberal. good job for making yourself look like a huge douche.

  • "The pope deserves no respect. He was a former Nazi"

--He was forced into the Nazi youth group as a young teen & was not a believer. His cousin was murdered by the Nazis. He later entered the seminary (his family was very religious & anti-Nazi). He was forced into military service during his studies. He later deserted & his house was used by the Allies for their operations. He later returned to the seminary along with his brother.

If that's the resume of a Nazi, then you're the liar.

  • "THIS Pope, unlike any other, was the person in charge of writing the internal policies that safeguarded paedophile clergy."

--You questioned where I got my information, but you chose not to disclose where you got yours. So please do so.

This Pope actually met with victims & their families while he was here, and apologized publicly and privately to them for these crimes. And he could do more, but hasn't. So could every other leader in the world. If you want to fight that battle, go ahead.

  • He was the man WRITING THE INTERNAL POLICIES THAT KEPT THE PAEDOPHILES FROM PUBLIC PROSECUTION. If you want to support him, that's up to you. Do your own research outside of what's published by the Vatican. I think you'll find that things aren't as black and white as some would have you believe. As for him apologising... Did he offer to disclose the whereabouts of the priests in question and excommunicate them? If not, he's still covering for them. (As HE knows where they are). Sheer hypocrisy.

  • We could, but there are a lot of stupid asses in this country...and in the world. Look at all the left-wingers that have failed in the world...ALL of them. But these dummys never learn...why? Leftys have NEVER been successful, ANYWHERE!!! but they never quit. Read their comments...too stupid to live.

  • What a moving ceremony. The lefties even have bad to say about and the song. I look forward to the day you assholes get yours. I hope one day you will take up arms against a conservative, republican, or libertarian government and I'll be there to meet you fully prepared to defend my country and beliefs. Meanwhile keep showing you ignorance and stupidity maybe somebody will put you out of your misery.

Long live the armed force that keep my country safe and free and GOD BLESS AMERICA.

  • Rot in hell you commie prick. To quote the late, great, Johnny Ramone during their induction into the Rock 'n' Roll Hall of Fame, "God bless George W. Bush, and God bless America." (and as a side note ...FUCK YOU! You are one dumb son of a bitch, no shit). Johnny would have been standing tall during this performance.

  • Dumbass.

  • I can only guess ( I CAN'T judge), but I doubt that you'll have to worry about finding out.

  • "as He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free"

    I love America so much

  • Amen!

  • I take that line so seriously, I love this country and would do anything to uphold its greatness

  • We live in the greatest nation on earth. What a wonderful, wonderful tribute to the Pope on his birthday.

Nothing is perfect, nobody is perfect, no nation is perfect and I'm proud to be an American, despite whatever defects we may or may not have.

If criticism is not constructive, let's keep it to ourselves and simply enjoy being free citizens of the greatest nation ever to exist.

  • GOD BLESS THIS GREAT NATION.

  • God bless the USA, President Bush and our troops,

  • I disagree with obama's preacher

    God Bless America!

  • Makes me proud to be an American.

  • Christ was born across the seas. In the middle East, where He has been virtually wiped out by the evil Enemy of man and God. All except Lebanon, but the USA will plant the seeds of Freedom and our future generations will be able to celebrate Christmas in every city in the Middle East some day. Thanks to our brave Troops and the wisdom of a great President.

  • "America is great because America is good. When America stops being good, America stops being great.

It was good to welocome our Holy Father with such honor. God Bless Mr. and Mrs. Bush

  • My favorite song! And our Holy Father got to hear it. How wonderful. God Bless our Pope, Our President and out Troops.

  • Amen! Amen!

  • Excellent!

For those opposed to God inhabiting our institutions and our schools, get over it. The United States of America is a Christian nation and has provided more to more people than any other country in the history of mankind. And I Thank God that I and my children were as Americans.

  • 1huskered:

Thank you for your kind words. I am one of those veterans who put his life on the line in defense of freedom. Hearing your comments makes me feel that my sacrifice was worth it.

  • rarosera:

I respect your opinion. Evidently you are limited on the amount of relative information that you are getting and are limited on you historical knowledge of what was happening in 600-700's in the Middle East, North Africa and Southern Europe. It really doesn't matter as you are not going to be easily persuaded. No matter.

  • Thank you, Army Chorus (and conductor!) for inspiring us! This is the Wilhousky arrangement we used to sing in high school (yes, public school, circa 1970!). "As He died to make men holy, let us die to make men free" - And thanks to our Soldiers, Sailors, Airmen and Marines who have done just that for us and for so many others.

  • "As he died to make men holy, let us died to make men free" is there any more of a reason to fight for liberty? The cost of freedom is far too valuable to treat with disdain, thus we have with the modern day liberals.

  • I heard it live on the radio and could not wait to get home and see it on youtube. Thank You for posting it!!

  • same here. thanks for posting from me as well.

  • Beautiful

  • AWESOME!!!!! Meaningful and Inspiring.

  • Let's hope the Pope, whose country was "set free" from Nazism by U.S. troops, will listen to the words of "The Battle Hymn of the Republic" and hear them as sound theology. The Scriptures do not teach knee-jerk pacifism. James McHann, PhD, Bloomfield Hills, MI

  • Amen to your comment. And Amen to this rendition of the song. Amazing.

  • Big X2 on that!
