  • You didn't show any video on the removal of the old pump and related things that also need to come out in the order they should be removed.

  • @bassjackgruv Its pretty self explanatory. Everything that I took off was videoed on the ground and as to where the water pump is located. Basically what has to come off if your just doing the pump is the air filter housing, drivers side dog bone motor mount and the upper radiator hose.In the video i show how the pump is removed and installed. Thanks for checking out the video.

  • I'm reslly wishing I would have seen this video before I did it, didnt know how to get the belt on.

  • I changed my water pump on a 99 STS the 1 thing that would have saved me a lot of time. Knowing that there is 1 tab smaller that is made to line up with a notch in the housing to get it out and put it in, your video so far was the best I've seen.

  • @nobodysmoove Thanks! Thanks for checking it out.

  • You are amazing. MDH just left to pick up what he needs after watching your video and making a shopping list. He is going to fix the car and sell it. Hugs!

  • @RochelleMezzano Awesome! Glad I could help ya out! Thanks for checking out the Video! :)

  • I'm about to attack my water pump and pulley this week. This video has definatley given me the courage to do so.... Gotta get "Pearl" running again! She's a 96' Cadillac Deville, pearl in color (hence the name).

  • @chamblerudy1 Awesome! Glad I could help out.

  • Awesome Video Thanks! Looking forward to more of them in the future.

  • @TJPatzo Thank you! Glad you enjoyed It. :)

  • AWWWWW Crap!! Is there any freakin way to get this thing off without that socket?? All I had enough money for was the pump itself...HELP!!!

  • @MrBigpoppa02 Unfortunately No... You must have the tool to remove and replace the Water pump. Sorry.

  • where di you find the tool to take the water pump off???

    thanks

  • @vengel You can find the tool at any parts store for rent or for sale.

  • ok i got a 97 cadillac deville concourse wit tha same engine (of course)..well my water pump pulley is melted almost all tha way ..my question is will tha puller still be able to pull it off cuz i already got tha tension pulley off and im buyin a new belt wit tha water pump to.

  • @LSB979 It should still be able to come off. The hole In the housing is larger than the pulley itself. All the tool does is lock and unlock the Water pump. How did the pulley melt?

  • @scotts01Z71 ok i just wanted to make sure b4 i rented tha tool...and i barley found out that it wuz melted cuz i wuz having overheating problems and i replaced almost everything except tha water pump, then i saw ur video and u said sumthin about tha pully tensionor so i checkd it out and thats when i found my problem lol

  • I didn't mention in the last post that I did a leak down test. I left it on for two hours and it leaked down 3psi in two hours. no milkshake in oil engine or trans. its a line that runs to the ALT. from the RAD. i guest to keep it cool, it was blocked. I hope by getting unblock there wont be any trapped air in the system. I'll test drive it in the morning.WISH ME LUCK!!

  • Is it possible to have a blown headgasket and it not showup by using a blocktester kit? about to go crazy with this Northstar.

  • @71branch Its possible. If its a blown head gasket, coolant will go Into the combustion chamber and produce white smoke out of the exhaust. Is the car over heating and were you able to get the new water pump Installed? If you give the system a leak down test and you see no visible coolant from the outside of the engine but the pressure gauge is losing pressure it is possible you could be losing coolant from a bad head gasket.

  • scott i wasnt able to remove the old pump because the tabs on it flatten out. now its like it locks then unlocks but because the tabs flatten out it wont come out the housing

  • @71branch If Its the old pump then you can pry on it with a pry bar until It comes out. Dont matter If it breaks your not going to re use it.

  • turned it in the wrong direction. now tabs lay flat and water pump wont come out. help please

  • @71branch If the pump is not out use a piece of pipe over the ratchet to get the waterpump back out. Sounds like it went in crooked. Match the tabs on the old waterpump to the new ones and bend them back into place. If all else fails return the new waterpump and get another one. Hope this helps.

  • box is it safe to say that she's lying about 2 gaskets being on the old water pump and again what is the blue gasket thingy u have my water pump didnt come with one oft those

  • ok i just had mine changed and it only came with the little black circle gasket i saw u had but not the big blue one i have a 2000 cadillac deville and it started overheating and leaking 2 days later then i found the black circle gasket still new in the box! the mechanic girl claimed there was 2 on the old water pump and she used one of those isn't it impossible to put 2 of those gaskets on there? The water pump is leaking 50 x worst than it was before since i found the new gasket still in the

  • thanks this really helped

  • @massiverampage100 Glad I could help!

  • Hi there,

    Is it Opposite Thread?

    Thanks, J.

  • @jjm1241977 Opposite thread as in Left hand thread? No, all the bolts are right hand thread. To take the waterpump out it goes clockwise. To Install It goes counter clockwise.

  • @scotts01Z71 Mine will not budge.............I am doing it that way..

  • @jjm1241977 Your doing it right. Its a real tight fit. I found it easier to use a cheater bar ( a piece of pipe over the ratchet to get more torque) it will move no more than an Inch. Your not gonna break it. I thought the same thing when trying to remove the waterpump. Just needed the little extra leverage to get it out and back In. DON"T use an Impact on It, the housing will crack. Hope this helps.

  • @scotts01Z71 HI Scott,

Will not budge at all................3 foot breaker bar, 1" gas pipe.........Big Pipe Wrench to help keep tool over pump..............slamming it with a hammer as well, car is rocking about a foot each way and nothing.........

  • @scotts01Z71 scott,

been trying..........I just broke the GM Tool................I think this car is being parked in the street tonight with keys and title in it.

  • @jjm1241977 Something does not sound right... at all. It should not be that hard to remove. If your standing at the front of the car( In front of the bumper) you are pushing away from yourself( clockwise) to remove the waterpump correct?

  • @jjm1241977 lol...lol..ha ha ha ha ha

  • @jjm1241977 MIne will not budge................

  • @jjm1241977 Mine will not budge and thats what it says on the box for the tool also

  • @jjm1241977 Did you get It to break free?

  • sick man. i'm coming to you if i ever need help on anything.

  • @ChevyZ71djd Haha! Thanks for the nice comment!

  • @scotts01Z71

hi there, Is the water pump " Opposite Thread"?

  • Great vid....nicely done!

  • @RamblinAround Thanks!

  • Nice job man!! Great POV vid :D

  • @rekjavicxxx I wish this car was mine...Man they ride nice. :)

  • i know i had to do one in my auto tech class in high school last year easiest water pump ive ever done :D

    Thanks Cadillac :D

  • it takes aspecial tool to get the impeller out dont it?

  • @nextrider123 Yes It does. Parts stores sell them or you can rent them.

  • looks like a pretty easy job compared to most cars :)

  • @Xarmy187 Not to bad at all. What makes it easy is that it does not run off of the main belt. Its on the other side of the engine away from the other components. Which In turn makes much more room to work with.

  • @scotts01Z71 probably designed to fail ;) make it easy access so the tech's can replace it quick and make money of unknowing owners

  • @Xarmy187 Haha! You got It! It all revolves around the Benjamins. ;)

  • Thank You!

  • good vid!!
