Oooooh crap, now I see what you actually meant...I thought you'd been asking where the Wartburg as a type had gone...of course I don't own number 1.837.708 sorry for not getting what you meant! My Wartburg was built in 1989.

@blackmetalofnorway1 It's in okay condition. The interior is like new, but the carrossery has, as with all Wartburgs, some corrosion issues. But I drive it every day until October, and then during Winter I will work on the carrossery and chassis to keep it in good condition. :)

I think the Wartburg deserves much bigger cult.

The 311 is one of the most beautiful cars of the GDR from the 60'-s.

opel hat die rechte an den name wartburg und der marke.

wenn es opel nochmal schlecht geht und die opel zumachen dann holen sie ihre wartburg patente raus.

das schlechte daran ist der ,,neue wartburg! sieht dann aus wie ein opel und so das hat dann nix mehr mit wartburg zu tun deshalb hat opel das conzept auch sein lassen..... auch besser so.... ost auto bleibt ost auto und kein ost-west konflikt :)

den wartburg hätte man ruhig weiterbauen können..als modernes billigauto..immerhin eine deutsche traditionsmarke.hätte man in ärmere länder..ebenso in die USA exportieren können...den trabant in etwas anderer form weiterbauen können..der smart ist ja auch nichts anderes..R4 und citroen-Ente..waren damals auch nicht viel anderst wie trabant.den trabbi hätte man gut als studentenlimosine vermarkten können. am besten als cabriolet.

Interesting how much better the technology is to produce the Wartburg, compared to the Trabant production. Its like they are made not in the same country.

Seems to be that the Trabant was made so simple, and with "primitive" methods, on purpose, in order of some communist ideology.

Yes I know,but i saw red Wartburg with RW 13" wheels from last serie or prototype which have 1.6 Renault engine.
