you can quick save in the xbox version? That's not a negative! Trust me, on the PS2 version, you have to make it to each checkpoint, which is no easy task.
It is the most frustrating splintercell game.. chaos theory was not as annoying because you could one hit meele anyone who finds you... so your not automatically detected if one dude finds you
My only complaint is how much you compared it to MGS. The only similarities is that fact that they are both stealth games. Aside from that, though they are both great games, the over all experience is completely different.
@wearethearchers Yeah I agree, Splinter Cell doesn't have all the zillions of cutscenes and one central area where the plot takes place. It's all mission based, building up to more shocking events as the game goes on. And its stealth is to with lighting of course.
@welshwilderbeast Was probably because I was playing MGS4 at the time. In alot of MGS games you can also survive quite easily if you get caught. Here it's just a game over mostly.
The game runs and looks great on the PC although to get the three bonus levels you need to have the collector's edition of Chaos Theory. The controls for the PC version are really easy too since you can use the mouse wheel to adjust Sam's speed.
I think the reason I found them boring was all the gadgets were kinda missing, it's frustrating to shoot with his initial pistol.
There are a lot of good parts in the first levels I'll agree with you, such as running through the fire in the Police Station and discovering the secret on Nikoladze's computer.
Great review, although i don't agree with the con about the first missions beying too boring... i think most of them are way more than the first ones although they are quite challenging...
I'm getting it on steam now, only consol platforms?

I'll try to review System Shock 2 soon but it's very hard to get it working on this PC.
