Fellow black people need to wake up and realize that one uppity negro in the white house doesn't mean we'll be getting away with more shit. It doesn't mean that there will actually be any CHANGE when it comes to how we are looked at. He may look black on the outside but when it comes to issues in "our" community Obama will be no more supportive than John McCain. Obama is a politician 1st and a (half) black man 2nd. I am with 100% on this one. All one has to do is look at who funds his campaign and his voting record. He is a politician first. Supporters of his think he can do no wrong just because he is charismatic.

You need to wake up and realize that you are the problem with our people. You're worried about what Obama will do for us (blacks), and you should be worried about what he will do for all of us (black, white, asian, etc...). We aren't the only people in America going through hard times. Obama does not give special treatment to blacks or whites, he treats all people equally and thats what this country needs. Okay, then where was Jesse Jackson's mouth when Bill Cosby was going off on the Black community? Jesse's just bitter that he didn't get as far as Barack and is just attempting to make headlines. Whatever Barack has said is probably nothing more then constructive criticism to his own people. I guess if it's not coming from someone he considers "black enough" then it's considered "belittling".

I am a black man, and I don't ever remember voting for Rev. Jackson to represent me. These people, Rev. Jackson, and Rev. Sharpton, do not and should not be out there speaking on behalf of blacks, it takes a lot more than some outspoken reverend to represent a whole race.

No matter the color of Jesse Jackson's skin, his true character was evident. How amazing, that this reverend, would say these crude remarks...as God as his witness, and to another person. Would a reverend even think about grabbing someone by the XXXX. He gives a horrible name to christians here and to himself. He can never take that back, no matter how many times he apologizes. If he would have not been caught on a "hot mic," he would not be apologizing.

Clearly, Jesse Jackson was upset because Obama's remarks hit Jackson "below the belt," grabbing him by the short and curlies, striking a very personal chord with Jackson, who is himself an absentee father. Everything else is his typical "Professor Irwin Corey"-like attempt to "baffle 'em with bullsh*t." Jesse Jackson should have HIS n*ts cut off. I feel so sorry for the black community for having this guy as their spokesperson. Every time he opens his mouth, he sets back race relations 50 years.

Jackson does not represent the finer part of the black community. This was bull, maybe even planned to get wide press, but in bad taste, and puts a sad spin on the whole thing. Shame on him, and there are much better black people to represent the black community. He should be ashamed, and shut up! I felt this way for years now. This just caps it. I do believe in Jackson's comment about how the black community is forced into these lesser schools they have done this in Georgia. They take their time fixing Atlanta schools but rush to the aid of Hall County schools which has a white majority. Done.

I don't know everybody's definition of racist but people all pass judgement on everybody based on their past experience and in absence of any background info on anyone we tend to judge based on the persons culture, religion and ethnicity. Jesse Jackson does not represent black Americans. He represents a past generation of black activists that was necessary then but is now no longer the voice of the black community. I think what he said is a bit of jealousy and envy because he still wants to be held in high regard. However this incident will cost him a lot of support especially among younger and educated blacks.

Kudos to Obama (& Cosby before) for telling it like it is and trying to instill a sense of family morality & responsibility for your kids.
