well i had long hair before the dreads, and the dreads i got, weren't how i wanted them... so i was always itching to cut them. But I needed to cut them at that moment. starting a new. and i dont just throw the hair away i burn it in a fire as a tradition and cleanse. so me cutting hurt a bit, but it felt good afterwards. because it was a form of cleansing my past and starting a new. so it was a mixture of things. :-) hope that clarified, or maybe it made you more confused, lol.
