They were such a great band; I wonder if any audio or video exists of Focus playing "Milestones" (by Miles Davis) which they did live in concert, as well as Victor Young's "Stella by Starlight" and Rodrigo's "Aranjuez" (part 2) in the early days onstage---as well as a bit of Bela Bartok. Very emotional song---with lyrics and a good voice on top, this would have been a huge hit single. Time for a remake, someone?!
I also have that live version on an old cassette tape. And I agree, it is amazing with the Mellotron backing up Jan. Someone needs to find that video and put it up...
Great ballad written by Paul Stoppelman, a friend of the band. This 1975 studio version of the tune has some cheesy synth sounds, but is still excellent. I have a live version of this tune from a 1974 "In Concert" program (along with "Hocus Pocus") with Thijs van Leer playing both the Hammond B-3 AND a mellotron simultaneously, and it is superb! Great version!
This is nice. Sounds a bit like Kayak, another great band around in the 70s
