By far this is my favoriteof all of their songs. Damn , i wish i could meet you! You're so talented! I have seriously only met a handful of good musicians, people i can actually sit down and just improvise with(btw, i am in no way trying to imply that I'm better than everyone, and i play the guitar)
I still can't get over this. I'm probably half the views haha This is what I show people when I try to explain to them how music has lost it's artistic nature and composition. When you play guitar to the point that when played on a Piano it sounds as if it was meant to be performed centuries ago in times when music was truly music. A.J. Minette is one of my idols for going so far to compose at this level. And god that sounds beautiful.
I wonder, if this is how AJ intended on writing his music, he plays it on guitar than it just brings out the "neo-classicalness" of The Human Abstract when it's played on the piano! Keep doing more covers!! :)
still blown away !!!! please answer me this.......do you have any site where these covers can be downloaded ? i would love nothing more than to drive to work everyday and here these versions.........thanks !!!!
I cannot stop watching this vid, about half your views may be from me lol. You are seriously talented. Thanks for doing a cover of my favorite song off of Digital Veil!
i love that you did this. AJ is an amazing classical guitarist and it shows so much when you play it on the piano. you have an abundance of talent. and truly show the parallels between metal and classical.
@alexatetris Yeaaa, it truly is a shame. but at least their are a few! and btw you should do a cover of Horizon to Zenith :) that would sound really good, probably really hard with that off beat weird breakdown. but you can do it!!
I wish I had an ear like you!! I can read just swell, but picking it up by ear is really amazing! If you do know how to put it on paper I'd love to get it from you!
this was absolutely amazing :) you play this better on piano than alot of people play it on guitar.. this was flawless. i really wanna see a cover of faust soon. pretty please? :D
@PoopOnMyLip Wow thanks! That means a lot to me. I'm kind of avoiding faust, digital veil, and holographic sight because they have the most screaming in them and it's harder to translate to piano. But I'm currently working on Antebellum and it will probably be my last one for a while.
@alexatetris haha well maybe if you didnt suck at the piano, you could do them.. lol im joking, youre pretty awesome:D is there any other bands' material youd be open to suggestion to for covering on the piano?
@PoopOnMyLip I only cover bands that I am madly obsessed with & have relatively "translate-able" music. Thus the only other bands that I have covered in my life have been Muse and Radiohead. Sometimes it's tough to muster the willingness. Recently I've also tried the faceless, and would possibly consider opeth.. other than that, would take a great deal of silent debate.
@alexatetris well then i guess btbam is out of the question isnt it? what about bands like scale the summit, instrumental stuff? have you ever listened to scale the summit?
@PoopOnMyLip Oh goddddd I would love to be able to cover btbam lol. The only issue with them is that they have classical parts, but their sound is less classically based so it's a lot harder to translate. And I only recently started listening to scale the summit, but from what I've heard so far, they're great.
@Deathxcore18 LOL, thanks, you're funny. I've been playing piano for like 12 years .. I think.. not sure at this point :P And I suck at guitar, haha! Never had lessons, so I usually only play if I'm fooling around & writing lyrics or working on a vocal cover, sometimes it's easier than on piano.
@alispie I don't write it out, I just listen to the music, translate to piano, memorize, repeat. Over and over. Probably not the most efficient way to do it, but if I do it in one sitting, takes like 6 hours.
Surprising only to the extent that I hardly come across females playing piano and especially one that appreciates the music of THA. How long have you been playing piano?
@cloudx1339 True enough, metal has been solely a man's world for too long haha. I took formal lessons for around eight years then played on my own for four.
@cloudx1339 During the eight years that I took lessons I despised classical music. Not so much because of the music itself but simply due to the fact that I didn't really understand it. I was just playing because someone else was telling me to. It wasn't until I quit piano that I really became absorbed in the universe of classical music and began to appreciate the emotion and intellect it had to offer. I guess that's how it is with everything... you have to take a step back sometimes.
haha how funny. I actually was inspired to become a musician as a small child by a classical piece lol. That;s very true sometimes you have to re-look at things to fully give them appreciation, especially depending on what stage of development in life you are at. Do you write your own music? Facebook/myspace music page links??? lol
Amazing. Funny thing is if you played this in front of "intellectuals," they would praise you. If you played the actual song, they would shake their heads in disgust ._.
It is quite a sad thing, that the less than mediocre metal bands that are constantly in the lime-light manage to make people biased against the whole genre. These "intellectuals", I suppose, have legitimate reason to be skeptical, but that does not give them an excuse to be cynical. It closes them off to the unyielding talent of bands such as THA and the like.
@alexatetris the simple powerchord bands are certainly creating prejudgements of metal and its subgenres. I think that people don't even hear the complexity though, when they listen to something like THA for the first time. I, myself, had to kind of grow into this kind of metal in order to hear everything that I appreciate now. I notice that when I show this music to someone who's not into the genre, it comes across as noise and monotone. Lovely cover that also shows their classical influences.
@xMontblanc That's fine. People care a LOT more about tone than they would care to admit. The tone of the instruments involved (distortion vs clean, growls vs the other types of singing) can completely shift someone's opinion on how an arrangement of notes make them feel.
@xMontblanc I love this comment. This is something someone should do science experiments on or write a thesis about. Also, to Alexatertris, beautiful playing. Thanks for making this!
@xMontblanc Then they're not real music lovers. I'm a music major (that likes metal) but I had the same mentality and I talked to a few composition majors here at my university and they all said "I don't see why it matters if it's metal or not, music is music."
Congratulations, you get my first-ever YouTube comment.
And thanks for making me shed a single manly tear.
