Apart from being able to get the ball back competently and hitting the occasional winner, Oudin doesn't seem to have much of a game. Her greatest asset is her defence, particularly her footwork, but she doesn't make the most of it, because she just hits the ball back without worrying whether or not she's setting the opponent up or not. God knows how Maria managed to do so badly against her!

Worst match of Maria's career. I could have pulled an 'Elvis' and shot my t.v. when she lost to fucking Melanie Oudin. It sickened me when people were getting on the Oudin bandwagon because I KNEW she wasn't shit. That litte bitch has barely won a match since the 2009 US Open. GO MARIA!

@econfkw hahaa i remember that with Jankovic. they asked Maria the same question after this match. she didnt say anything bad, but she took an extremely long time to come up with something good to say about Oudin's game. I don't think she'll ever win a major, but at her age, she has plenty of time to improve her serve and any other weaker parts of her game.

oudin only won this match because of the DFs from sharapova. look at the stats at the end of the match, when you take away their double faults from their unforced errors tallies (6 for oudin and 21 for sharapova), maria hit many more winners, and less unforced errors than oudin, who is supposedly a counter puncher! how does a counter puncher hit MORE errors with their groundstrokes than sharapova.

@kidd2947 A double fault is When you are serving, do not get either your First or Second serve in correctly, either by dropping the ball in the Net or dont get the serve on inside the Serving lines on your opponents side.

@kidd2947 every tennis player has two chances to hit a serve (not including lets). a fault is either missing the service box, not hitting the ball past the net, or foot fault. you do hit two faults is a double fault and you lose the point

Melanie Oudin played great this match..granted Sharapova played poorly..but you do have to consider that Maria is regaining her old form and Melanie hasn't exactly had an excellent 2010.
