i think the movie looks ok though i haven't seen it yet even though i'm pretty sure the manga is waay better :). i read the manga already and it was great.
This movie was awful, they made it before the manga \ended so it ends just horribly. i was so excited to see the last couple volumes in movie form cause they were so amazing, but then i got sad when they didnt show.
God the manga, I read it about a year ago, it has to be one of the creepiest things I've ever seen or read, you'll never think of a spiral the same way again!
Too much CGI FUCKERS! I'm ashamed to own this dvd. Original Grudge fan here and always and The Ring before it became mainstream. Most mainstream movies just aren't creepy. Give me any of the movies from the 8 films To Die For series before any of that cookie cutter garbage.
IMOVAHERE: Did you watch Uzumaki. The Ring and Grudge aren't even in the same league. Uzumaki plays with the conventions--is a self-conscious, original, intelligent take on Japanese horror. Japanese Goosebumps? You're joking right?
*time travels* amazing.. o_O Lol Japanese Goosebumps, awh i LOVE my past self!!! ok negativedialectic ah. yeah.. i watched it. i own the dvd. the idea might be self-conscious. the presentation, acting, design (shitty CGI) doesn't reinforce its originality. No hard feelings. I see you dig this movie. Thats' cool. We're different people. I still stand by my year old comment, don't let it rain on your parade tho.
I actually thought you were complaining because there was CGI at all, not reflecting on the quality of it. The movie is 10 years old and directed by an indie director, so it should be put into that context. I thought the effects were actually more interesting than those in some big budget films. I've seen lots of Japanese cinema and found U. more creative and original than many of Japanese the films that have been marked in the west.

Ok then, the film didn't work for you.

@negativedialectic
let me preface this by saying i bought
the dvd because it had an interesting
premise. in the end it fell short for my
taste.
Cool, i prefer more of the indie stuff myself.
Low budget horror films are the best. They
tend to be less cliche. So see we agree
on something.

They should of waited for the manga to end.
KingOfFiji 3 years ago
yea....dont they have like only 3 books tho?they should mix it all together instead of just some of the first book
nelsong33 3 years ago
Yeah there was enough in the three books to make a pretty decent movie.
