My car's package was built with this mid-grade headunit for an extra $500 along with a $500 spoiler, but all the speakers in the 2011s are the same. I haven't done enough research, but I believe there is a speaker and sub upgrade for the 2011-2012 now available. Check out the Scion website. Whatever is on there, you can usually order it and get installed from the dealer.

how much did that head unit cost? and does that come with new speakers, or just the head unit?

So does the nav system and HD/satelite radio not work on yours? I just bought my Scion back in March and that same Alpine system came with it, but I was told that I'd have to pay $600 more to activate them and use them

@acoustictideify I haven't activated the satellite radio or nav system. The HD radio should work as long as the radio stations are set up to project HD signals. Not all radio stations have it and when it comes in you can tell the sound becomes more robust and digital quality without static!

i got the 2011 tc last december. mine also came with the alpine unit. my biggest complaint is the usb for ipod. it works well while finding a song. i go to my artists, then when i select an artist i usually have to select an album, and then a song. all good so far, until i want to go back and select another album. instead of being able to hit the back button, you have to push the search button, select artists AGAIN, then scroll through the list of artists AGAIN..... ctnd....

I didnt get a cd with my tc...lol..i got the same stereo and the audio upgrade..then i added 2 10 inch subs..sounds waaaayy better!

The new pioneer head unit sucks.. it's only a 200 watter.. the alpine was 340.. kinda sucks.. I'll have to ask my dealer if they any alpine ones left.

The new Tc needs a volume killswitch on the steering.. I wish it had that.. it's so annoying not having that... I wonder if this head unit is better than the new pioneer one they put in...

@cvrivcharles Yes it does, forgot to mention that I guess. The only problem is that half of the radio stations in my area don't even use it so when it works it's CD quality radio which is great. But get into areas of difficult reception and it shifts back and forth between HD and regular which gets annoying.

for those who have the door rattling problem, its either the wires along the door panel rattling or the little panel where the lock/window buttons are. just pop it up and pad the panel or secure the wires more.

What an ugly looking stereo........ Why didn't you purchase an aftermarket double din stereo instead? It probably would of run you for the same price and got navigation on it. People who buy from dealers and get dumb upgrades are really stupid. With the money you spent at the dealer you could have gotten something much better.

When you get the audio upgrade do you only get a head unit, and everything else is the same as the basic audio kit?

Will this head unit work with an after market amp and sub?

@caw490 If the bass is rattling the doors, pop out the part thats rattling and put some silicon under it. also if u like using the LOUD setting, hit menu and change car type to XB. it makes the mid range speaker a little better and smooths out the bass.

I'm curious if the usb would work with a typical USB stick loaded with MP3s. And how the stereo works when you get a call.

@structurebe1 does the auxiliary input turn off when you hit a bump in the road? I've heard the pioneer system suffers from this.

@W01fman1487 I've used the auxiliary port about 2 times and it hasn't done it all. I mainly use the USB connection.

go figure, i couldn't find a video on the alpine system when i was researching the car, now of coarse this is the first video that pops up on youtube.... after i got the car with the alpine system lol. love it. biggest problem is the rattling. has anyone figured it out on how to fix it

@caw490 Nothing yet. Once I have some time off from work to actually take a look into the door, I might try some double sided tape haha. I won't know til I see what isn't holding it down.

Does your arm rest rattle with the bass up? (Power window/lock buttons)

I haven't bought the car yet, I'm just trying to see if every car is having the same problems. I did go to the dealership and played a song with a good bit of bass and there wasn't any rattling. Maybe after a few days it could though.

Do you have any rattling in the sunroof or moonroof while driving on the road?

Good review though, I've been waiting for someone to do a video on the sound system.
