  • I urge you all to listen to James Holden - Triangle Folds. It's all Doepfer A100 modular, pretty amazing music...

  • wow, lots of amazing modules in there

  • i like the fact you patch it and show us :D

  • Sounds great, but with software it is done in 1 minute, but yeah, won't sound the same, and it's boring, this looks fun!

  • excellent!

  • i love this sound!!!! you are great!

  • Cool demo

  • Well done, very informative video. Like the Fireworx below too! :)

  • absolutely fantastic

all this is really put to good use

  • Hi analogger! great video, just a question: i've ordered a-160 clock divider, is all i need for sequencing sound sources or i need the a-161 also? and what did you used to trigger the filter for the bd, the adsr or the clock divider with lfo?

    Thank you!

  • @problemaccio no - the A160 works really well by itself.

the A161 does at a boatload of extra features - if you take a look at the manual that doepfer makes they have sample patches using (amongst other things) outputs from the A161 to reset the counter on the A160

  • Question: I'm interessted buying a 9U doepfer system with two Tip Top Audio Oscillators and filter. In order to play two oscillators at the same time, would I need a multiple module to send pitch signal from the midi interface module to the two oscillators? Or have I got this totally wrong?

  • @Robbinsffxi yes, unless your midi - CV module has multiple outputs for different channels.

  • 02:08

    best.sentence.ever.

  • what are you doing before 6:57 that is changing that minor chord.... how are you making that chord?

  • @strictpolicy I am using an efx send on the mixer and putting the sound thru a Korg Kaoss Pad, It is one of the "vocoder" patches that changes pitch as you run your fingers across the pad. I mixed that in with the original signal..

  • Have you done much in the way of soundscapes and ambient stuff with that setup? It looks like a good rig for drones and the like..

  • @nbryc that's pretty much all it does. you came up with a good album title though: "Irritatingly Souless!" Nice!

  • @Analogger Always prefered the term' Mindless techno bollocks' myself.Keep doin what your doin though.Fuck the ludites.

  • @nbryc your an idiot

  • @nbryc

Who got lost on the internet... (Imagine ABC's Poison Arrow in the background)

  • EXCELENTE ...!!!! Amo a este excelente instrumento....!!!!

  • how much may i ask

  • Super job!

  • Such a great demo as usual Mr.Dither! Will be picking up a system very similar to this in a few days...can't wait! Forgot to include a clock divider though and my Doepfer G6 rack will be all full...what to do! :(

  • This is pretty cool ... a modular is on top of my shopping list ... hopefully I will be able to create such cool rythms with it, too ;)

  • super cool stuff man!!!!

  • The A105 makes one impressive bass drum sound. I was a bit sceptical about that module since Doepfer name-dropped a lot of SSM using gear I personally find quite overrated... but this sure does sound fat.

  • Could I ask where you got the rack for those modules? Are they 3 unit tall?

  • excellent.... you mentioned a while ago - a kind of modular 101 video course?

is there any sight of this on the horizon?

  • That's a nice collection of modules ;-)

Some would call this an "Industrial Track"? But it's best to just make the music you want and let others try and name it. ha ha

If in LA area, check out NoiseBug synth shop - I'm filming a video series there, with Buchla, Analog Solutions etc.

  • DAMN! Now i get it!

How some of the stuff works!

    THANKS A LOT!!! [5] Stars

  • It is very rare to see somebody actually creating something useful and musical with their modular. This is a great jam.

  • dude, great video....

    nice explaining..

  • thanks. my friend! I am getting ready to do a more simple demo - basically showing the minimal number of modules and cables to get a sound. Sort of a "modular synth 101." if you will. Keep an eye and ear out for it!

    Mark

  • no problem...

it's the whole catch.. keep it nice and simple... you got it m8!

  • @Analogger yes! id love that!

  • @Analogger how did you get this synth? how much did it cost?

  • is so difficult to be an analog creature in a digital world...

  • Wow... I'm beyond envious!!!

  • "so basically, just let me start pluggin' in some patch cables and we'll see what the hell happens" LOL, that easy eh?

  • Well...I guess not quite, really :)

  • he he!!! you are of my army!!!

    analog lovers!!!!

  • I love the sound! Great video!

  • I wish more people would make instructional type vids like this - im just getting into modular synthesis. This is great - I must say it does get a little hard to work out whats going on after a while!!

  • I love it

  • How do you even get started with a modular system? The pre-builts can be super expensive, and there are way to many options when you buy piece by piece.

  • Did you connect the franastan to the combobulator without using the thingamagig. Great patch, modulars always amaze me. 5***** video. Thanks

  • Nice patch. Fancy breaking it down for me as it's pretty hard to see what's patched to what in the video.

  • nice modular system

  • cool

  • this is great.
