i updated my ipod 4g to 5os and i backed up the ipod by simply clicking back up ipod but i still lost my apps but most importantly my music. i restored my ipod to the back up but still nothing. i got my apps back with no problem but still dont have my music. i tried some ipod recovery websites but havent had any luck. does anyone have a clue what to do.

@JL10000000 if u brought it via itunes login on ur computer in itunes and re download. or if u brought via amazon login to there site and re download the songs u are missing then drag them into itunes. after sync ur ipod. [If you get any of the music on cd re rip] next time back up to or 3 times and check and make sure all ur music is backed up before you upgrade.

go to the app store, go where it says updates, then go where it says purchased, and all of the apps you have purchased should be there! you just have to install them all over again but all of them should appear! :)

Fact: For unjailbroken devices, you will still lose the files you didn't sync it with iTunes. I only use the 'Manually Manage Music and Videos Option' because I don't like the idea of syncing and most of the music that the iPod has came from different computers.

to every ipod 3g user if you use green poison but not working here are the steps.

go on itunes and sync so you have all your apps on itunes then update so you already have your stuff on the website then update the your ipod will be restored and updated then you check mark all you songs and stuff then sync again. process is 1-3 hours but worth it when you jail break cant use green poison witch is the most trusted jailbraking. Follow these steps and live happily ever after

if you update to itunes 9 you will NOT, i repeat, you will NOT be able to SSH via USB anymore !!

if you update to FM 3.1 you will NOT be able to jailbreak until a jailbreak for FM 3.1 becomes available.
