You know Paul Page himself viewed this video and has to smile and put his post on his blog. His Indy 500 Intros work and the way he did it inspires many fans of this Sport. :)
As a college student trying to get through final exams, watching these videos one of the only things keeping me sane until the end of them, as well as the anticipation of race day.
It was so classy, so dignified, the way ABC-TV used to open the broadcast of the race. The last 5 or so years the opening is usually so pretentious with its dizzying lazers, thunderbolts and over-the-top graphics. Mercifully, I'm going to my first Indy 500 this year and won't have to watch the TV coverage.
Paul says that Jules Goux drank six bottles of champagne, but according to the Official History of the Indianapols 500 book, that is not true. It is true that he and Emil Begin had a few drinks of bubbly, but not six bottles of it. Donald Davidson suggests it was probably used "as a form of mouthwash."
Anybody looking forward to 2011 with the 100th anniversary. Hopefully the Delta Force Intros will be back, and we will have one unified, INDY CAR WORLD SERIES. PLEASE TONY AND KEVIN, STOP THE FIGHTING.
btw, 100th Anniversary for the Indy-500 that started but definitly not the 100th running. 2016 is the 100th-running of the race. 5 years for WWI & WWII
Haha, and i bet my daddy was at the race that year, almost every year until i was ten years old, i would watch the Indy 500, just hoping to get a glimps of my daddy in the Grandstand!
I knew where his seat was, and now I can sit in those seats... I am (hopefully) going next year, ill pay for a plane ticket, ill drive myself, ill hitchhike... but next year NOTHING will keep me away from Speedway Indiana =]
i remember these days listening to it on the radio having a cook out in the park when i was a kid since indy allways block's it out on tv till it's over.
I don't think Sam Posey can, unfortunately. I think he he's contracted Parkinson's syndrome...but, he still keeps up to date with most everything in motorsports, so who knows if it could be done.
Gorge messed it up.... Bring back the Horsepower where driving makes a difference. Bring back the day when you push the car to the brink....

Good to know he still checks out the old videos.
Paul, if you saw my 2008 intro, I hope I did it justus for ya. My goal someday is to have his job. He and Bob Jenkins are my Idols

As much as I liked your intro, I have to say Bob Jenkins is pretty boring. But its probably just me cuz I'm picky with commentators lol

The 100th Indianapolis 500 needs a Delta Force Theme, as well as every one up until then.
racermac1988 3 years ago 5
