  • Dominick, suddenly our system is whining (like a distant kettling noise). It seems the sound is from the boiler itself, but the sound travels through the system. Any ideas? we have a an expansion tank (pressure goes up to 38/40).

  • @katciaomiao pressure seems kinda hi. Try bleeding the system out good. Follow all my instructions on the video. Let me know

  • @DominickDiy Yes, I thought pressure too high, as well and guess what? The bladder in the expansion tank was shot ( tank was full of water). We replaced the expansion tank (about $32 at Home Depot). Last week, we replaced all the corroded relief valves, the auto vent (hope I got all the names correct), the oil filter, too-Thanks to your awesome video, husband bled system. Now the new tank seems great-system getting up to temp. I will let you know when all is well. Thanks again, Domenick!

  • @katciaomiao Awesome, glad I could help out and thank you very much.

  • Hi Dominick I have no heat in my bedroom n bathroom on the 2nd floor. I believe I have some air pockets in that line cause I keep hearing a bubbling or gurgling noise. In my basement I have 3 zones all with their own spigots and valves. Should I be closing the other 2 valves when bleeding the one I think it is or do I shut the valve on the one I need to bleed? Also u said the system should be running while doing the bleeding right and you don't have to do anything with the lever that's going

  • Thank you very much, very informative. Friend shut off water to boiler when he installed my new hot water tank, why i don't know. Pipes were making a racket and was only getting worse as the days went on. I watched your video and it really helped. You probably saved me from blowing up my boiler. I can't thank you enough.

  • Nice demo.

  • Thank you

I do have the valve right after the spigot. Your video was the best one I found online concerning this. I appreciate the info.

  • @bkcmurphy1 Good deal. This way you'll be pushing the air out with no other choice but to come of the spigot apposed to only getting a little out at a time.

  • Hi Dominick

In the video you mentioned the value to shut off the system but you did not shut it off. Does any valvue need to be shut off before bleeding the system or do you simply attach a hose to the spigot and drain it until the air is removed?

  • @bkcmurphy1 That valve is the supply for new water into the boiler. That should always be left on. It really depends on how your system was designed on what valve if any may need to be turned off. For the most part you could just open the spigot and bleed. Turning the return valve right after the spigot would be much better, if you have one.

  • I have a question. I have taken out the air from my boiler a month ago.

Now, there is noise in the boiler and the pipes, when the burners turn on. The noise stops, when the burners shut off, even if the circulators are running.

  • @bostonian0926 let me know if you found out what was causing it i have the same issue, i bled the air out of my system and now it bangs.

  • @LedusZeppelinus : I pretty much tried everything. It was a copper fin boiler. At the end I just got rid of the boiler and installed a good old cast-iron boiler. No more noise, just peace.

  • very good thx help me alot

  • @gxhani Glad I could help out.

  • awesome! Thanks Dominick! I just bought a house with a boiler and am trying to familiarize myself with the system. Question: I have no idea if or when the last time the whole system was flushed. I hear you should do that once a year. You think you can post a video of draining and filling a whole system? I could use the help! thanks again

  • @madatown your advice was great thanks

  • thank you for your clear explanation of this....my plumber replaced my boiler but did not bleed the system...I will blled it now..

  • Great Info Bro!

  • You were a big help for me on this but now I need some advice on removing a toilet flange. I've seen cutting it out but I Don't have the tools.

  • @twostinkyfingers Thank you. I guess I should make a toilet video. However just go to my site and ask away.

  • very helpful and informative and your pretty darn good at presenting it too...just the stuff we need to know ....two thumbs up!!

  • Nice job D! Pretty much what I thought but you clarified a number of things for me. Quite helpful!

  • Great video. I learned a lot.

  • not every boiler has an expansion vessel, the older systems have an expansion tank normally in the loft space above the rooms in the house

  • can you bleed the radiators themselves

  • Thanx for taking the time to make and upload this video....

  • @jcdshb3 Any time. Glad I could help out.

  • Thanks for the video. I've needed to do this for almost 2 years after a plumber replaced a pipe and didn't bleed the system. I've been afraid to try until now. I will be purging my system tomorrow.

  • @krstofer Cool deal, glad I could help out

  • Thanx Dom, Do I need to leave boiler running and does the zone im draining need to be open?

  • Thanks man, very nice of you to take the time to post this for those of us who don't know what were doin. !!!!

  • @69drumhead And that's why I do it. Always a pleasure to help out. And thank you.

  • here i go.... wish me luck

  • @twostinkyfingers No luck needed. Just take your time and think about it before doing it.

  • @DominickDiy Thanks. took about 5 tries and now everythings clear.

  • @twostinkyfingers Good deal. Glad I could help

  • Dominick........thanks for the instructions. It help me out.

  • @tmozes Awesome, glad I could help.

  • I have a well, and my water preassure reads about 25psi, is that normal. The problem I am having is that 2 of the zones are not working. I have tried the bleeding, but I don't know if I'm doing it right.

  • Good video. My question is, while bleeding the boiler, can I feed cold water into the boiler. I read somewhere that this can crack the tank or something like that.

  • thanks, helps a lot.. How about one on how to add an electric circuit to a panel.

  • @cupcakechagrin What kind. 120 or 220 volt. I did just do one on 220 volt three wire type.

  • impresive

  • @hamada966 Thank you very much.

  • That was good. Thanks.

  • Nice video and great job.
