There's been no childhood memory quite as impacting as watching the picture disc of 'Out Where the West Winds Blow', by Kenny Roberts and the Down Homers,spin around on the turntable at 78 rpm. My mom bought when she was a teen-ager. I'm posting my video response, which, naturally, pales by comparison. Thanks, I'd never heard this!

Kenny was great. Had an album of his. One track was a live
performance of a duet he did w/ the great Elton Britt. Doesn't seem
to be on Youtube.

Flashbell, when I was just a little guy, our local TV station ran "The Kenny Roberts Show". He yodeled, of course, but he had a puppet that when the puppet lied, his nose would get bigger and bigger, 'cause it was a balloon, until it popped. Is this the same guy, or what?? TQ

@fespar Montana Slim aka Wilf Carter was an earlier singer, yodeler, etc. from Nova
Scotia. I had an album of his from the l950s. Kinda goofy picture on the cover, but he was a
great singer. Some of his albums were reissued.

I saw Kenny and his wife on stage in New Hampshire. Always liked his music. I share the name Roberts, also, and perform country music, as well. Maybe not "as well", but, also!

@cariboubill .......Some of the very best were so under-appreciated in their day.......Today it is about hucksters and fast-buck promotions to a generation in which 'most everything is artificial......People like Kenny and his friend Slim Clark enjoyed a loyal following for which I am glad....Bill, I had a friend who passed away in 2007.....James Roberts....He was a great entertainer as was his dad the legendary Kentucky fiddler Doc Roberts......
