Well my friends, this is a cane spider. I encountered six (6) of them when I lived in Hawaii, one inches away over my husband's shoulder about to land on my face. I am still not the same. Now that I am back in Canada where spiders freeze to death before they can get this big, I find myself looking at these kinds of pictures, when there is 6 feet of snow and an endless winter, and there has to be SOME reason that it is not good to be in Hawaii. :)

Thats quite impressive james. It's quite hard to get a scale on it and i have seen your further comments about its legs being thicker than your fingers. How big would you honestly say it was? It looks from the footage to be several feet long but scale can be deceptive whithout a reference. It does possiton itself like an Orb web Spider but obviously not in a web and like you say its body (thorax) is a different shape. An expert would hopefuly shed some light. I wonder what it eats!

id agree with the bottom comment! ok its in the wrong country but at the same time the markings are true to a wandering spider! and in reply to the comment by weisslander (jus to cover my back) the wandrenig spider is of the same species as the huntsman spider and some of them can be quite nasty, very fast and agressive spiders which can be dangerous to younger children and old people!

Below I errantly used the word 'assassin'. After further research, I have found that this is in fact without a doubt a HUNTSMAN SPIDER. Native to Australia and many of its surrounding islands including Borneo. Despite its size, its fangs are rather small and is harmless unless you're a cockroach or another spider. They do not build webs and catch their prey by ambushing them.

I'd say it's a brazillian wandering spider, even if it is in Borneo. You can note the features on it with it's long body, and long legs which are stretched in front and back. They're transported from brazil on banana boats, so it may be in intergrated species. Be careful with that monster.
