  • @brynn718, I KNOWWWW!!!! Last I heard LT was touring with Gnarles Barkley under a fictitious name.

  • It's good, no?

  • nice!!!

  • .....mmmm...very sexy man with a seriously amazing voice.... mas y mas y mas!!!!!

  • I've been checking out this cat out since i seen him perform Figured Me Out on Jimmy Kimmel's show.

Then i picked up his cd Jim from the library and was floored by the talent this cat has so i checked out the video for the song Multiply which made me get that cd from the library.

I've been listening to that cd for the past couple of days and i'm again floored by this cat's talent.

Lady Gaga & Justin Beiber can go Platinum and this guy can't sell at least half of the number of cd's they did??

  • Been a fan of this brotha since 2005, introduced to him through this song as a free iTunes download. Best thing iTunes have ever done for me... introducing me to this man's beautiful music.

  • hmmm...what's on my agenda today? Get right out of bed and make an awesome song. Done.

  • Jamie is dope but you need to check Lewis Taylor and you will know where he got his vibe from.

  • @IAmAnise OMG! To hear someone recomment Lewis Taylor made my LIFE! He's my favorite artist...maybe of all time. He is the TRUTH! HUGE FAN. I'd kill to get him to record another album....

  • @IAmAnise Lewis is nice, but i like Jamie's vibe more and his voice is better. And i dont think he got his vibe from Lewis, I think they both got their from other greats like Stevie Wonder and Prince.

  • FUNKY MAN.

  • Lol Jamie, stop tickling me!

  • I've heard that base line but I can't put my finger on it......

  • Jamie Lidell is one of a kind. He has an unique sound and that makes him so great!

  • I love Jamie's vibe! What's extra funny to me is that this cat who obviously has a hard time dancing comes up with such groovy ish. lol

  • I dunno what to think, this dude is one of the most soulful R & B singers I've heard in a while and he's an Anglo European!

  • JAM ON JIMMY, 4-EVER!!

  • awesome!

  • Depending on the song.., he sounds like a cross between Otis Redding, Marvin Gaye & Prince & maybe a little Hall & Oates.

  • He is the definition how a real artist is supposed to be.

  • loveeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee him

  • Jesus Christ I love this song..finding out about him 5 Years Later now...a customer of mine told me about him and I first heard "Another Day" and fell in love..

  • fast foward to 4min 11sec...

  • @MegaSloppyjoe Why would you do dat?

  • This dude got soul!

  • brilliant work from lidell!

  • i'm allready :D but indeed

  • Man, I wish he would make more albums. That would make me :D

  • @Kirok He's got a new one coming up in may, and after multiply he made Jim. Soo... does that make you :D ?

  • @Koekjesbeest YES! I didn't know he was making a new one! I've gotta buy it as soon as I can! BTW, I did know that he made Jim, I was just referring to right now.

  • The Tractor and The Painting.

  • outfit immer geil ! schaut mal hin

  • Hot damn, it's so nice.

  • How have I never heard of him/seen him before now? I LOVE THIS! Totally watching everything else I can find. Shiiittt, this is amazing stuff.

  • Jamie Lidell Makes Amazing Music :) !!

A lot people don't know hum, although he's very good !!

  • excellent

  • Excellent!

  • Der Bill Withers des 21. Jahrhunderts! :D

  • When you listen carefully you hear some parts (backing vocals) that could belong to a Marvin Gaye song.

I think Marvin would be smiling when he could hear this. Music is universal. Has no limits, no boundaries.

  • @hremmelt That bit at 2:20...maaan, that sounds like Marvin Gaye! Yeah, I know it's Jamie singin', but I swear it sounds like Marvin came back just to grace this track!

  • I never actively listen to music of this genre, but this is a pretty addictive tune. Brings back good memories of the first half of 2006, too.

  • The production on his tracks are amazing!

Does anybody knows who did it, can't seem to find it on the internet.

  • I THINK Liddell produces his own records , and works on others too.. I remember an interview where Leslie Feist said she learned a lot about recording techniques when he helped her record 'the reminder' , which sounded just as awesome

  • Most of his tracks are written and produced by Jamie Lidell. This track is a collaboration with Dominic "Mocky" Salole -> watch?v=lXdMuU97GGM

  • Funk just grows better in UK ;-)

  • Not normally, but this guy sure is a great exception!

  • the dudes got soul!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Don't make me laugh.

  • No really, I think he is

  • So Jamiroquai is the only (caucasian) funk/soul artist in the world?

  • if you associate jamie lidell to jamiroquai , you don't understand nothing !

i like jamiroquai , but jamie lidell is on another planet .. is simply great.

  • i agree, they both have a funky feeling in theire music, but they are totally different in many ways.

  • i understand where ur getting at...but their voices are completely different, and this mite be one of the only songs that actually sound THAT similar to them...

they're two different planets as "barbocci" said...and im saying this from a perspective that im a huge fan of both...

plus, jamiroquoi is a band and this guy is a solo artist

ur basically saying that hes a copycat of jamiroquoi, ur basically saying that all white funk musicians are the same

are all rockers copycats of each other then?no

  • What is with everyone, chill out. There are no rules when it comes to music...

  • chakafan2 - Cheers baby! A sensible reply! Jamie Lidell's extremely talented and his music moves us - what else matters?

  • i didnt know al pacino sang

  • hahahhahahah. fuck those spanners that thumbed Regals commet down.

  • I like this guy and I love this song and his music. And I'm a 51 year old Black woman. So there. Back in my day they would have called him a Blue Eyed Soul Brother.

  • @chakafan2 I thought that term was still in use! Guess that shows how much I keep up on that stuff. lol

  • @chakafan2 Love it! And I agree totally. He is funkygood.

  • great song

btw, shut up and enjoy the music people

(do you really need to be bustin a vein over such trivial things on youtube?)

  • great music comes with bullshit comments

  • Bluecafe 22 - have you seen Jamie Lidell perform live?? In person?? Well I have and he hasn't 'hijacked' jack ok? get over yourself. He's supremely talented and doesn't market himself as anything. Not soul not indie not electro not anything. if you've ever seen him live you would know by the crowd that his appeal is his talent not marketing. Stop trying to profess to know something you clearly don't and stop watching his videos if it's so offensive to you!

  • Wow.. why don't you all relax! He's doing something he loves, and is sharing it with others.. rather than spouting all this pointless banter about what kind of music it really is, or how it's marketed, or how it's presented, why don't you just enjoy it? If you don't enjoy it to begin with, then gtfo of this channel because you're wasting your time preaching to the choir.

  • it's funny because he is a very good singer but he can't dance^^

  • so true :P

  • And I say just forget color, race and history altogether and let's enjoy the music and make love to it instead. Peace!

  • I love this song and the artist.

  • What a load of crap - anybody can have and express in a souful manner..... Cubans have soul - so do the Greek Blues Rembetes from the 50s and 60s....

Absolute nonsense about it being exclusively Black.

  • Agree 100%. All peoples have soul. That said, not all beings have talent like this dude.

  • first cool spam mail i ever saw ^_^

    and are you good =P

  • Hello evrybody. from France, we haven't those critics and inside fights. He's a big creativ singer.I think the soul music is't for black people only, even if they play for a long time. Anyway this use it, give us good vibrations. Try, serge Gainsbourg ( it's not soul) on this site, you don't care if you don't understand !!! taste it

  • Stop this fight !!!

He has a soul, and soul has no color.

  • and it just had a sense of superiority that I don't agree with, even if you were just making a point.

Besides, if we want to get technically 'black' people were running dynasties while white people were still in caves slapping rocks together.

  • I kind of take offense to the whole white people education comment. While I don't agree with the person's commoment about Jamie Lidell stealing soul, becuase I am a firm believer that anybody can have soul, the fault of their comment is not that black people had soul firt, but soul music is a creation of mostly black pioneers. I am pretty sure white people are not the only ones who came with education,a nd the way you said it was kind of like Education is the white man's game,

  • Do you know we are in the 21st century, the Age of Reason? The time to grow and let old ways teach and new ways bring us together with our intellect? Who cares who invented what-Alexander Grahamm Bell invented the telephone that everyone uses-he helped us communicate all over the world-no one stole what he created because we all learned from him and benefited. There are more things than this argument to spend energy on. We learn from all cultures and we have to grow-we're all here to stay.

  • he isn't cute or pretty, but he really is charming! ;)

  • Art is art no matter who creates it...2008 Are we still that simple minded?

  • bluecafe22, you're an idiot? Stole soul? The African American community did not claim ownership to soul. That would be like white people saying that black people stole education because white people had it first.

Just because he is white does not mean he doesn't have soul. Hell, he has more soul than most people now, white or black. He is doing what he loves and he is doing it well. You're a freakin' moron and should do the world a favor and take a long walk off a short cliff.

  • Maybe I'm reading too much into your comment, but I find the line about "black people stealing education" offensive. I understand the point you were trying to make, but maybe if you had made a comparison to another style of music to make you point, it would have been easier to digest.

  • You shouldn't feel offended by that statement. It was a comparison, albeit an extreme one, that was similar to Bluecafe22.

My point is that "white" people cannot claim education nor can "black" people claim soul music as their own. They are both for the people to enjoy and saying that one stole the other is ludicrous.

  • You're an idiot. My analogy was supposed to be retarded to show how stupid he was. Fail more, please.

In my opinion, which is the only one that counts, you're an idiot dressed up as a faggot.

  • While Soul arose out of the African American community, once you release an art form in to public you no longer retain ownership of it. Music is fluid. The influences that go into creating each individual song are often too numerous to understand. So if music resonates with an Audience then good for the audience and great for the artist. That goes for every style, from "Experimental Icelandic Techno folk Metal" to "Bubble Gum Pop". Rate an artist on their own merits not on their race.

  • Politely, some things:

    1) I did not make mention of Liddel's race (per se'). I wrote that I do not appreciate his presentation Soul music. Soul is not Indie-Rock or Experimental Techno. From watching this video one is left with the impression that Lidell has simply hijacked soul music.

    2) Your firt comment was about "songwriting", not production. On that note, both Van Hunt and Robin Thicke produce their own music. While the same may not be true for Gaye, Mayfield and Hendrix.

  • You don't own Soul music nor the right to say what is legitimate music or not of any style. if you don't enjoy Jamie Lidell then don't watch his video. i urge you to send me your criteria for legitimate music. what excatly must you do. be born in the 50s? be black? be american? be male? mention the US in one of your songs? i don't understand. what is the difference? its all music. you are the one putting all the labels on it. just listen or don't its up to you. who cares what genre.

  • ???

  • This musi is soulful. Jamie Lidell puts his own spin on it. He is a soulful guy. You're a hater.

  • fun thing is that he composes the music himself, even if he was yellow, red or purple, hes a genius

  • Most artists compose their own music! It doesn't make somebody a genius.

  • bull shit almost all music that makes to to large public acclaim these days is not written by the person it is released by.

  • name an artist that does and i'll name ten that don't.

  • twbrennan:

Real artists write their own music! I think the people you are referring are singers. Singers generally have somebody else write their songs and music for them.

Personally, I do not listen to a single person who does not write their own music, unless they are exceptional singers. My favorite artists include Marvin Gaye, Jimi Hendrix, Curtis Mayfield, Van Hunt, and Robin Thicke (etc). Unless you listen to bubble gum pop, artists will generally write their own songs.

  • I have to agree with you there. Though I think the remarkable thing about Lidell is that he does all the production on his albums hemself, and it is done to a very high standard. Nothing against any of the people you have mentioned. No one is debating the genius of Gaye, Mayfield and Hendrix. and while Hunt and Thicke are great they have both used used major producers on their albums, while this doesn't detract from their artistry, I believe when an artist does all three, its worth a mention.

  • Amazing voice, good song but this one doesnt do it justice

  • jamieeeeeeeeeeeeee je t'aimeeeee si tu veux me contacter fais moi signe;)

  • mdr! dsl il est a moi :p

c vrai que sa voix est sublime on succombe vite !!

    love it ^^

  • Racist. He's doing Soul very well.

  • as a black girl... i notice that black people have been willingly giving up soul. using repititious robot beats and taking all the soul out of their voices and music to make more money cuz our new thing is "gotta make it, gotta make that money fast".... SOMEONE'S gotta appreciate soul. cant let it die. i love ol' jamie he's in it for the art and love of music!

  • does it matter what color the person is.....his voice is AMAZING.

  • I did not say anything about the fact that he is white - I really like Robin Thicke and Eric Clapton, theyre white. I just can't stand that this guy is fronting like his music is some kind of alternative style, when it unabashed old school soul!

Its like he stole black music, but does not wants to give credit where credit is due. This guy isnt just barrowing elements of soul This is soul music, straight up!

  • snap! When I first heard this guy, I thought it was STevie Wonder. dang!

  • great voice

  • I love the bath robe

  • my fave jamie song!

  • He is so bizarre but i'm loving him... he has a sense of humor and a great sound... it works for me!

  • The video is so much better in high quality. Really makes a big difference. See video responses.

  • he sounds like stevie wonder

  • Exactly!!!

  • That's right yo ,& that's why his good.

  • That's why his good

  • Yeeahhh i was also thinking that! Also the way he moves in don't make my good feeling go away. how he moves is head and stuff.

  • I'm torn... do I love jamie lidell or is it

    my true LOVE for JayKay?

  • It's ok to love both. Both are amazing :)
