This is probably my favorite scene out of any movie I've ever seen. This may sound weird, but it's gotten me through some of my toughest times. It's what I run to whenever I've had a bad day or when I'm really upset. It's just so sweet, but isn't corny. Actually, I think it's VERY believable. Robert Sean Leonard and Ethan Hawke both created such vivid characters for this movie, and I think it's the two of them, more than anybody else, who make it such a sweet, tragic, and inspiring film.
I love this scene so much. Neil's such a sweetheart and he seems to be the only real friend Todd has at Welton. Oh, what I wouldn't give for him to be real. Not to mention he's very cute and funny too. I keep replaying this scene over and over because I can't get over how nice Neil is to Todd, and when he wishes him a happy birthday, it makes me weak at the knees. This whole comment is so corny, lol.
did anyone notice when the plastic wrap was taken off the desk set? but this is still one of the funnies scenes in the movie. i still laugh every time i see this part of the movie.
It kinda fell off midflight I it was pretty thin and those scisors looked heavy :)
I Like how well these two get along and understand each other despite being on complete oposite spectrums Todds parents all but ignore him and sned him this desk set he never wanted while Niels Dad micromanages his exsistance. But they find some kind of common ground and almost a sanctuary in each others presence I think anyway
ardent, impassioned, ernest, realistic, heartwarmed scene...need I say more ;) Thoughtful recognition obscures an impervious individual to the point of no return--oblivion, I say...lmao...or impassive rendition. It is an oblique attempt to obliterate any emotional attachments or sentimental values...hmmm..a rather contemplative, depressing and somber view, ya think?...lmao....but valid....

I can't wait until they come out with a sequel to this movie called "Dead Parents Society" where all the parents in this movie are whacked and beaten to death.
well they didn't improvise the scene but they came up with the intire idea for the scene cause originally it had a bit about how tood's dad called him 5.97 cause thats how much humans are technacally worth
Underrated= doesn't get the recognition he deserves. But then I guess he chose not to do the whole hollywood thing which is why he's not so well known!
ABSOLUTELY A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E!!! I should Quote the Whole Wonderful Clip!!! Love
This
Scene.
*runs around in circles, exclaiming "Deskset!"
if you say it like Neil it sounds like Des cassette. lol.
Which you must if you're a real DPS fanatic.
