  • Oh yeah, this was '94 when we sent a bunch of granddads to take on the nightmare which is keen, young, talented, hungry Aussie predators - Slater being a fine example of the many that were coming through in Oz cricket then. Batting and bowling: they tore us apart and then they gobbled us up. It was about this time that I became absolutely certain cricket in this country was being run by escaped inmates from a nuthouse (I had been wondering about that for years though).

  • I'd certainly disagree with that, mainly because of the large number of quality openers Australia has had. Slater was good, but with serious deficiencies.

  • One of my most favorite batsmen to play the game. In my team from 90's i will have him open the inning with Saeed Anwar. Both attacking, Both classic!
