I wouldn't blame that on 007 at all. That kid stopped riding, no two ways about it. He relied too much on his horse instead of carrying him through. Bottom line, first girl RODE her horse, Nikko kid sat on 007 and waited. This is where the "they all have money" argument proves incorrect. 007 is an amazing expensive horse but his rider wasn't up to it. Doesn't matter who you put him on or how much it cost.

I really think even GETTING to the MaClay is a HUGE honor, and most of these riders are completely taking it for granted. Hell, if I made it to the MaClay, I wouldn't CARE if I knocked a pole down or had a refusal or fall. I would have been dissappointed that I could have had a better round, but I would say "at least I GOT here. At least I got this incredible oppurtunity!" But it's really annoying to me how these riders are just focused on "winning it" they should be happy they made it!

the horse didn't spook! It was a basic white pole jump...Nikko was overconfident and therefore felt like the course was his. He stopped riding

@pdawgof8428 i know!!!! that didnt even look like a refusal, nikko just thought "oh he'l go over it" and didnt give him enough signal, so the horse calmly went around it.

That just looked like a result of not having his leg on, nothing of that was the horses fault. It wasn't even a spook.

I think it looked more likr Nikko refused the fence. he didn't have a distance and pulled 007 off the fence. but, hey, we all have our days right? tho... he did blaim it on the horse, which is kinda annoying. I do that too sometimes when I'm embarresed. not gonna lie

all of this just proves that, even if u have to be a good rider, it's more important to have a maclay level horse

+ nikko could tell 007 was going to run out, and instead of pushing him to go, he steered him to the side and accepted the refusal...you can tell..he pulls him to the left before the jump

I find it very unfair how everyone keeps ragging on Nikko. He made a mistake! He is a very succesful rider and yes he may be a little cocky but he's a 17 year old boy here. Boys are always cocky and immature at this age. If he was a bad rider he would have not made it to the Maclay in the first place. Yes his family has alot of money but you also need talent to make it to the Maclay.

@HunterEqSarah Your really right on that. Just because he doesn't always admit that he made the mistake, not his horse, doesn't mean he is a bad person or rider, he is just, as you said, a little cocky but he does have talent and cares about his horses.

nikko's refusal was a steering problem. he could have directed 007 to the fence better, but instead he yanked on his inside rein. watch it in slo mo.

Omg 007 is gorgeous horse who should of had a better rider! He deserved a much better rider! I thought Nikko was like stuck up but really I liked Rocket, I kindof don't know why but I would have chosen Rocket. but 007 is gorgeousssss!

haha that refusal was such a rider error on Nikko's part. He didn't ride the horse to the fence at all and yet they have the balls to blame it on the horse. I guess they never learnt that 99.9999% of the time it's the riders fault.

I know just how Maria feels- seeing this makes me respect her so much. I was a working student and catch rider, and I understand how having mounts change under you all the time can be so frustrating! She really works hard for everything she has, and has a good attitude to show for it too. She doesn't have everything handed to her ona silver platter.

he totally didn't even try to make sure that 007 would get over the jump. He thought that since 007 was a proven maclay champion that he wouldn't refuse any of the jumps.

to me she doesnt have the best eq in this show. she slouches and has her hands way to open and she needs to sit deeper in the saddle

she wasnt the best in the way that she hit a rail, but if u had seen them in person that day (i did) you would remember he course because she lined him perfectly, she made everything so smooth and u wouldnt even know she was telling him what to do, also she stood out for the test being the one that took the better turns, took the harder striding, yes it does help having big names behind you, but she loooked amazing and she deserved to win

Nikko's whole attitude is kind of annoying. like when rocket z refused the fence at the show earlier on he blamed it all on the flowers, and then here just the way how he said 007 ducked out on him. maby I took it in the wrong context but it seems like he always thinks it's the horse's fault and never considers it might have been his mistake.

Nikko stopped sending 007. if you look he acually pulls him out of the jump right before takeoff. I think it was because he lost confidence in him jumping the tight turn, but I think it was more so Nikkos fault :(

007 probably would have gone over that fence if nikko had asked alittle more firmly. cuz you can see him back off the fence about two strides away. im not saying its nikkos fault, everyone makes mistakes.
