Ford North America crippled it's in-line 6 passenger car engines with a crappy cylinder head that had in integral intake manifold with an ID of a worm hole. Ford of Australia actually developed a proper cross-flow head with overhead cam and fuel injection for this engine, the most potent version has a turbocharger. If I had the cash, I'd import an new Ford Oz turbo straight six and drop it into a classic 'Stang. It would be a straight bolt in.

I just put split headers and duel exhaust on my m 66 6 banger, and it sounds great. We have a friend who kept telling us to put a V8 in it and get rid of the 6 cyl. As soon as we did that he said he was impressed.
Congrats on a sweet ride. Most die-hard V8 fanatics talk s*** about the inline 6 but what they likely don't know is that drag racing 6-bangers were actually pretty popular even back in the 60s...hell the highly tuned ones could run quarter miles in 11 to 13 secs even back when those times were considered fast. So don't let other people talk you out of what you want to do, it's your car and money and I'm pretty interested in where you take this project.

yeah true but with a 6 you are more limited, and imo spending a bunch of money on a 6 isnt worth it when you can just put a v8 in. you would know what v8's are about if you drove one.
thanx it stock manifold. 2 1/2 pipe into flow master single in dual out the loudest one they have, and 2 truck chrome tips on the sides. gives it a nice throaty sound when driven. and loud when you floor it! =) every body thinks i have a v8!

Besides inline 6 mustangs are rarer anyways , especially now with all the v8 swaps inline 6 s are gonna get extremely rare
