Call me a sentimental fool if you like, but this is my all time favorite episode of Dragnet. The moment when the little boy comes in with the statue gets too me every time. I had seen the 60's version of this story many times. I did not know the original version existed until recently. Thanks for posting.

Good thing there were no major crimes back then and the cops could waste their time on this kind of stuff. Wait, I've got a great idea for an new show, Law & Order - Small Crimes Unit. Watch as a whole squad spend umpteen hours attempting to solve ridiculously small crimes while major crimes go unsolved.
