Well... This video looks like they literally just redid graphics on wow... I'm not kidding, this video looks like a reskinned version of the starting zones lol. The only people who would change are idiots. (Not saying this game is bad, but paying for one MMO is enough for me (and no that doesn't mean im going to change that one MMO to Rift.))
As a WoW player for past 4+ years - I am disappointed that Blizzard eliminated the public Portals, which makes transportation on WoW being close to being a big nuisance. I wish they would restore them in both Shat & Dalaran - don't you think that paying 5k for Epic Flying is enough, but 2x is purely insane, I dont know what they were thinking when coming up with that stupid idea. I just purchased the RIFT game last night..I played up to lvl 9....THE GAMES BLOWS BIG TIME..total let down...In short its a warhammer/wow/aion with better graphics...they failed to created a unique battle system its almost a clone of AION & WOW..im pissed just spent 53 bucks at the gamestop cuz the said its awesome the best MMO ive played so far is AOC awesome battle system stunning graphics. RIFT fails at this game boring grind fest,,,,it sucks! Save your money for Guild Was 2!!

Ok... im a WoW gamer not as active as i used to be... but still a gold run when i get bored... i have to say of all the games i have played the closet that has ever come to beating WoW is Aion.... and based on this games look... they both may have a little competition....
this almost looks like aions, many people said that aions would destroy wow and it did for about id say 5 months before they realized that it took bout 30 days to get past one level playing casual or take 15hours of killing the same monster to complete a gathering quest.

@amaremdra420 That's your opinion of what makes a good MMO. Personally, I enjoy the game even more when I feel familiar with the places i'm going. It brings back good memories sort of like a scrapbook does.
I have no idea if its like this for others but the main reason I play ANY mmo is to explore a new 'world'. You cant do that with an FPS but at the same time its this reason that on WoW I could only make one character from each faction before I got bored, Because at the point of making a char who was going places I had already been it was boring, with Rift all that I really want to do is go to new places. and with the improved graphics it will be so much better. so quit your pointless arguments..

Got to say the beta is shaping us great - each revision is making it more and more solid each time. Lots of nice touches and features that are new and show the devs taking their time to polish small details. Going to be a blast!
Sure Blizzard took ideas from EQ, AC and DAoC however one thing is Blizzard didn't copy EQ's UI, however everyone after WoW has been copying WoW's UI along with the gameplay elements and content.

Wow isnt like the original MMO where all games stem from. Wow ripped its fair share of ideas from other running games and made it all so easy a one handed pirate grandmother could still get raid gear in a month. Not saying WoW is a bad game in itself, i've played it, but it barely had any originality to it
@Dalamar335 there are alot more features, like the soulsystems(you can create your own charakter, saveable), dynamic gameplay with random invasions (small rifts, big rifts, raid rifts, mega rifts), completely other story. I can stay in the soul-planer for ages and plan what I will be doing. and it has all this from the beginning. do you remember wow? they hadn't had one raid in the beginning. PvP areas are more dynamic due to the possibility of random opend rifts anywhere (players can open it!)0
@Locrianification you've never played EQ2 or Vanguard have you? alot of the UI is ripped right off of SOE games even the styling and the arrow designs. you're not gonna find a lot of originality in this genre because you can't break a mold on a genre that's so picky. and the song isn't half bad, sounds a lot like some of Ladytron.
Rift looks like EQ remade - this time to attract more nerds willing to kill themselves cause their lvl 9 magic darts they throw can't kill the big dragon.

Looks and plays alot better than WoW does. Has it ever occured to you that Cata has been out for only 1 month and people are already bored and fed up with it? I played WoW for almost 6 years, but WoW is past its glory days. Blizzard is trying to milk the last bit of it.

Zwar weiß man nicht viel über den Highend Content, aber Rift ist auf jeden Fall (meiner Meinung nach) ein starker Konkurrent gegenüber WoW, mir wurde cata zu lw. As a wow player, I wanna play this game. It looks like it contains wow standarts with different story and it has new world so blizzard fucked up with cataclysm and this game would be better choice at least for now. Just don't be a 'fanboy' before you try it and play the one which is more fun.
For next patch blizzard announced ZA and ZG dungeons are back, they've no idea to do something new, something different but they still earning money this is just bullshit, I bet they like fanboys...

I have no idea if its like this for others but the main reason I play ANY mmo is to explore a new 'world'. You cant do that with an FPS but at the same time its this reason that on WoW I could only make one character from each faction before I got bored, Because at the point of making a char who was going places I had already been it was boring, with Rift all that I really want to do is go to new places. and with the improved graphics it will be so much better. so quit your pointless arguments..

Got to say the beta is shaping us great - each revision is making it more and more solid each time. Lots of nice touches and features that are new and show the devs taking their time to polish small details. Going to be a blast!

Sure Blizzard took ideas from EQ, AC and DAoC however one thing is Blizzard didn't copy EQ's UI, however everyone after WoW has been copying WoW's UI along with the gameplay elements and content.

Wow isnt like the original MMO where all games stem from. Wow ripped its fair share of ideas from other running games and made it all so easy a one handed pirate grandmother could still get raid gear in a month. Not saying WoW is a bad game in itself, i've played it, but it barely had any originality to it

@Dalamar335 there are alot more features, like the soulsystems(you can create your own charakter, saveable), dynamic gameplay with random invasions (small rifts, big rifts, raid rifts, mega rifts), completely other story. I can stay in the soul-planer for ages and plan what I will be doing. and it has all this from the beginning. do you remember wow? they hadn't had one raid in the beginning. PvP areas are more dynamic due to the possibility of random opend rifts anywhere (players can open it!)0

@Locrianification you've never played EQ2 or Vanguard have you? alot of the UI is ripped right off of SOE games even the styling and the arrow designs. you're not gonna find a lot of originality in this genre because you can't break a mold on a genre that's so picky. and the song isn't half bad, sounds a lot like some of Ladytron.

Looks and plays alot better than WoW does. Has it ever occured to you that Cata has been out for only 1 month and people are already bored and fed up with it? I played WoW for almost 6 years, but WoW is past its glory days. Blizzard is trying to milk the last bit of it.
It's time for something new, something exciting! And instead of 'defending' WoW, just keep an open mind about new things. Change isn't always bad

WoW was ruined by its commmunity. All the spammers, trolls and 10 year olds that cant hold a conversation without mentioning chuck norris or reverting to "yo momma jokes" make wow a bad game. Hopefully this game does just well enough to survive so it can avoid these types of gamers. Then i'll enjoy a game with a decent community.

So in my opinion Rift will surpass WoW but it my be awhile because there are players who will stick with wow for the new things that might not even let rift be better but we will see

Leute ihr müsst unbedingt mal das kommende Rift testen, hab glücklicherweise den beta zugang und muss sagen, dass das Spiel eines der besten Spiele ist, die ich je gespielt habe bis jetzt. Zwar weiß man nicht viel über den Highend Content, aber Rift ist auf jeden Fall (meiner Meinung nach) ein starker Konkurrent gegenüber WoW, mir wurde cata zu lw. Man bekommt später wieder alles in den arsch geschoben, ich weiß wovon ich rede, hab schon alle im nhc clear und 4 im hm. RIFT IST GENIAL!
