  • Mummy, why are your hands so soft?

  • I'm more of a r n r guy. I love Johnny Thumders, Iggy, Brian James. Yet Marc melts my heart!

  • Great song. Great voice.

  • 30 YEARS OF "BEDSITTER" RELEASE!!!

  • another Tainted Love, sitting, hearing, smoking, drinking, enjoying!!...

  • cool, sexy and talented! Im not gay.

  • @mrwells111 gay git

  • looks like mr bean

  • Better to listen to than look at. A unique voice - he was forced to include Gene Pitney in Something's Gotten Hold of My Heart - and Pitney was fucking awful. Still, maybe he can now cover Twenty Four Hours from Balsa, eh?

  • @paullavan2011 maybe it was a way of getting around the royalty issue

  • FANTASTIC SONG.XX

  • do not listen to this song, this song leaves deaf, it is a crap

  • @marcelogap sentence structure is not your strong suit, is it sir?

  • @marcelogap sentence structure is not your strong suit, is it sir?

  • I gave him flowers at a concert and he F*ing kissed me full on the lips I loved it Haha !

  • I love soft cell.. I love his voice.

  • conservatives are in the closet

  • ya the sausage monster make good music

  • This is the anthem of club life. But the clubs were the best in the 80's and early 90's.

  • e bravo ma mesa' ke e leggermente recchiaman^^

  • I just noticed that all his clothes match the wallpapers of his room... l wonder if that is supposed to symbolize something?

This song reminds me of my life at the moment... :/ l go out to clubs and have fun but when l wake up in the morning, l haven't done anything productive, and l feel kinda empty on the inside... l'm waiting for something in my life to change for the better. x3

  • @HammerOfPink Yes it does... think about it. As for your life... enjoy the moment, consider the future... but don't plan too far ahead, it's bad for the soul.

  • @HammerOfPink it will.

  • @HammerOfPink don't wait...make it happen!

  • @vonsterflick

Sounds good... but my schedule has me going to the same boring job everyday, and I can't afford to move somewhere else and get another job... l wish life were much simpler than it is... lol. l just want to buy an RV and drive down to South America or something crazy like that, in a journey spanning several years, the destination being... wherever!

  • @HammerOfPink Enjoy it while it lasts, the "productive/responible years are 3 times as long,so dont worry about it.

  • @HammerOfPink - he's becoming part of the bedsit. He's been there so long living the same unfulfilling life he's actually melting into the flat...

  • @HammerOfPink i like your way of thinking but i think that you need this time to relax and have some fun to get inspiration and motivation for doing anything productive...the question is, would we be so productive if we don't have some time for our self...?

  • Marc Almond is, (get this), a

    person,

    who is,

    FROM LEEDS!

Ha Ha! - You thought I was going to mention something about, er, something else!

  • wow i remember those days to well life is going back to those days hey ho recession

  • @wetukman The Conservatives bring recession just like the sunshine brings the rain.

  • @Withnail1969 I agree im old enough now to know how things go in circles, now its a time off poverty

  • Where can i find the psychedelic butterfly wall paper?

  • Soft Cell brought a new element to electro/synthpop: Marc Almond's sultry, very emotional voice, instead of a distant, mechanical one like Gary Numan's. Marc and Dave were simply brilliant.

  • He needs a plumber.

  • Marc Almond has a great voice

  • Loved Soft Cell in my youth, still sound class today!

  • classic hit. "non stop cabaret" one of the greatest under rated albums ever!!!

  • He was sooo cute I love his black curly hair and guyliner... Marc I want that blouse! He inspired my own styles and I'm a girl LOL...I must ask though, why the blouse+wallpaper combo... that was a bit over the top hehe

  • happy bday marc almond. respect +

  • still one of the best voices in pop music. an underrated talent.

  • Mark Almond had a great voice and at the time when I was listening to his music, that's all I heard was the music and his singing. Everything else didn't matter to me because little did I know it at the time, his music would make for great memories for me to look back on...High School, friends, parties, etc. Nothing else matters right =)

  • i listen to his music...dont notice his knob..

  • I actually prefer this to Tainted Love. Synthly fantastic.

  • wow I like this song but kinda wish I never saw this video lol!

  • @MountainQueen whats wrong with the video ?? lol

  • Hi jrquist404,

If you wanted to hear music like that of Marc Almond of Soft Cell, Flock of Seagulls, or 1-hit wonders like B-Movie in Los Angeles you would have had to tune into Radio Station 106.7 KROQ, my all time favorite '80's radio station. They played a lot of New Wave music that other stations were afraid to play. I know it's a little late now, but that's were the music was in L.A. in the '80's.

  • A classic track from a great album

  • I don't remember hearing this song back in the 80s. I don't know if it just didn't get played much on the radio in the U.S. or if it was just not played much in L.A.

  • Marc Almond's embarrassing gesticulations of the third-gender kind aren't enough to efface the quality of this early-'80s gem.

  • Why should be blue with pink spots...

  • You can sit here if you like. On my lap mark

  • :)

  • I'm pretty much hetero, but Marc looks so lovely in this video. As he usually did back then. ;)

  • How can a tune like Bedsitter stay so fresh after 30 years? It's amazing that I never get tired of hearing this. It's as fresh and futuristic now as it was then! He's gay? Err, so?

  • argggghh excelent!

  • excellent

  • Yeah, effeminate men never made good music- oh wait, of course they do. It's part of most rock n roll, electronic, and so on.

What are you faux manly men trying to pass off on everyone? You're always the highest suspects for behind the scenes homosexuality as if any sane person cares.

It would be a terrible world if rock n roll and dance music was ruled by the bland, overcompensating tools we see everyday.

  • takes me back to my youth . yeah !!!!!!

  • Shoot, now it's suddenly 1982 (when this was released in the US) and I'm a junior in high school. What a flashback.

  • HOT!!!

  • I think insecure, low talent people get irritated that he is more famous and talented then they will EVER be, no matter how hard they try, and decide to be dismissively homophobic. SOUR GRAPES

  • I wish there was a video on here for A Mug's Game. I looooved that song when I was a teenager:

"And her chewing gum is getting stuck in your hair."

"Oh shit! You forgot the rubber!"

"Deep Purple in Rome-Led Zeppelin too. Well even you hate those."

I like when he said he was "gonna leave home and live um in America- because they earn more money there...and you can get away with murder! YEAH!"

  • I was crying in the depths of despair, sobbing and couldn't breathe but I could still sing along to this song. Marc, you are a life saver.

  • @Alma889900 ..Yu.dont.live.in.the.depth's.of.dispair?...and.you.never.cry?..what.are.you.talking.about

    alma??

  • This looks spookily like my friends flat, we did live the life too!

  • the underground looks so different

  • leave me in the 80's please...thanks :D

  • M.Taylor, absolutely spot on, on all you say!!, well said.

  • NOTHING will EVER fucking compare to THE 80's!!!.... ( I wanna buy a ticket back to 1982 the year this 41 year old "kid" "discovered" the AMAZING LAND of fucking "college radio" where the likes of "Soft Cell" and TONS of other MIND-BLOWING bands where being played 24/7!!!...)

  • AH bedsit-land. Good times and great memories. Shame the kids today are spoilt and never had to experience the shit-holes of bedsits lol!!!!

  • I love the sound of Soft Cell!! This song is one of my favorate 80's music!! Soft Cell will live for ever!!!

  • Pure english !! Punk rock 80´s.

  • una de las mejores canciones techno de siempre

  • Love the way his jacket matches the wallpaper. ;)

  • 1:20 topless!! OMG! I love Marc, one word HOT

  • Quink?

  • 2011 - the season where youth culture is consumed in conservative-uptight-bland-homophobic-

being a youth during the mid 70's to mid 80's was an amazing experience - youth back then were so much more progressive that youth today -

    thanks for posting this video

  • this song was reminicent of when he had a besit in little london area in leeds

  • If you were a lonely and poor young man in London in the eighties you know what this song is about

  • @fredmila - Very true !!

  • One of the darkest and most depressive songs I've ever heard. See emos? It doesn't take silly pseudo-punk guitars and naive moll tonation...

  • Who the fuck cares if he's gay? He's some mother's son FFS.

  • 0:32...pretty eyes!! 1:36 awesome!! 2:30 cute!! 2:48 lovely!! 3:11 what a great dancer!! and everything else as well is great!! LOVE U MARC!!

  • Dark, depressing, brilliant. This will still be listened to in a thousand years time.

  • at 0:25 cant say u look too flattering!

  • omg i have loved marc almond/soft cell since tainted love first came out first time i have seen this it has not aged marc is a lost treasure xx

  • What's his sexual preference got to do with anything? And here was me thinking we were living in a more open minded society, seems there are still sad fucks living in the dark ages!

  • this guy is a overlooked genius , i dont give a toss for gays but soft cell were definitely one of the best techno pioneers of the early 80,s

where would we be without them today ???

their 2 non stop albums are classics , check them out people.

  • A studio flat in St John's Wood? He must be rich!

  • i'll need a rocket launcher with 33 rockets

  • Where Almond sticks his penis is of no interest at all to me. His fantastic music does interest me. You people need to get lives.

  • @ianern32 I think he's the one who takes the penis lol

  • @ianern32 lmao

  • @ianern32 well said chap.....................

  • @ianern32 Spot on!

  • @ianern32 he's a taker not a giver if you know what i mean x

  • great stuff..!!

  • this is purdy gay

  • So what if he's straight! That's fine with me, some of my best friends are straight, it's a valid lifestyle and they can lead happy normal lives.

  • holy shit i havent listened to this song is 10 years. Its fucking incredible and i cant believe i still remember the tune

  • have been in love with marc's voice since the moment i first heard "tainted love" being played in woolies one saturday and bought the record that instant. couldnt give a chuff if he's gay (which we all know he is), but i do know he kissed me on the lips once! :o)

  • great track by a lover of soggy biscuits......

  • i have been a big fan of this very talented man for many yrs everyone seems concerned that hes gay !!!i dont care if hes gay or blue with pink spots !!! i just seen him doing his 30th yr Anniversary show in cardiff me and my husband had a fab night he sang every song perfect and gave 110% to his fans i hope he continues for another 30yrs xxx

  • @mrsdaipunk I rate this song and other Marc Almond numbers as defining moments of the eighties, that era would not be complete without him, fabulous music!

  • The song is great but the guy is fucking gay

  • @Dancingoddess88 of course he's gay. It was that gay man who wrote this great song about his life. If it wasn't for his life, he wouldn't have written this song that you think is great. Accept it and enjoy it, you fucking bigot.

  • @Dancingoddess88 So what

  • Mr. Bean's gay older brother.

  • @redrock1965 I thought you were going to leave a hate comment, but you didn't so thank you.I personally love this band, but we all have an opinion.Yes,I do think alot of the songs today are pointless. :D

this is just how living in a bed sit is

    terry

  • The best clip ever!

  • i just noticed marc looks a bit like paul reuben

  • hehe, this song reminds me of a freckle faced Australian person. She is called ooblitz_babyoo. She is so fat, he he so fat, big fattie bum bum ... omg shes so fat... omg shes so fat. She wears a lot of black to cover up the fact shes so fat, but I noticed. I am sensitive about not calling her fat to her face. She wont read this anyway.

Great song, BTW. Oh how the children of Stonehenge would have loved to dance to this :(

  • so so so so so gay xD lol but i love it xP

  • tolles Video, super Nummer, geile Scheibe

  • reminds me of times gone by

  • marc almond is so camp in this video,

  • Marc Almond, Amy Winehouse...same person or close relatives?????? XD

  • Very nice song and a brilliant video! Tim Pope is a fantastic video director.

  • 1981 london what a grim place

  • this vid reeks of 80's tory grime

  • Authentic Southport Lad, yay!

  • This sums up life in New York and London even today when you want to have nothing but fun but return to your horrible small apartments and bedsits and pretend to be hip. But as Marc sings, it's an empty experience. Brilliant track.

  • Jaime Soft Cell vraiment!

  • Many thanks for uploading this one! Perfect audio&video quality!

  • after this video clip i guess they tried to slaughter him .

  • This song is so truthful for those of us who have lived the bedsit life. I see a thousand people just like me.......

  • Probably (actually definitely) my favourite Soft Cell song.

Love the lyrics too, still ring true today!

Funny how this sounds a bit like The Grid (only 15-odd years early)...

  • Marc Almond itt még szinte gyerek volt.de jó visszanézni az időbe...nagyon szuper kis videó!THX

  • Great track! One thumb up from here.

  • what great memories this track, well Soft Cell bring back, period...thanks for this post :))

  • such a grimey video [exactly how it was in the early 80's under Tory rule].

  • why do you all forget there was david ball in the band as well you only talk of marc almond . i think he is a great guy and althought not very beautiful he walks with so much style

  • que putito sos!!!

  • THIS ROCKS <3

I am however, slightly disturbed by the way his shirt matches the wallpaper behind him.. (1:03) Oh well, he's cute anyway.

  • I love the song, I hate the video.

  • @Carbeto123 100/100 niestety..

  • still sounds fresh today ,great song

  • ce clip m'hypnotise...dancing...laughing...drinking...loving... vive les 80's!!!

  • Sex Dwarf is another wonderful GEM from the early 80's in my opinion!!!... Soft Cell will ALWAYS one othe BEST things that fucking happened in that era!!!

  • How can you fucking go wrong with the likes of Soft Cell in the 80's??!!! They only DEFINED the 80's with their INNOVATIVE/ MIND-BLOWING sound!!!... Marc Almond YOU RULE!!!

  • From a fabulous album But I still think that Torment and Toreros is his masterpiece
