  • I've always wondered if E.Ts penis glows as well

  • Without comments, i have breath stops!!! snif

  • This is a very "materialistic" video. =p

  • Your video is a favorite on Madrid

  • I live in Edmonton and I bought tickets to see him perform in Boston this June...I'm flying 6 hours just to see him. So incredibly excited!

  • Ive always wondered if ET's penis glows as well

  • Amazing! i wish i was there

  • Thanks dude! I have experienced this too! Thanks for sharing the magic xxxxxxxxxx

  • 0:08 O my God :))

  • I began watching this when I was about 2 years old when my uncle's didn't feel like playing with me. I loved it. And I still cry to this day every time I see/hear it. Not like, a tiny tear, like crying. Thank you, John Williams. Thank you so much. Thank you for composing a score for a movie that would get me through my teenage years, and bring me hope every time I see it.

  • All the orchestra members got laid that night

  • Stop clapping how uncivilized, wait until the end ! We want to hear the music !

  • I drive to work playing this song....all of a sudden my car starts flying, then the cop pulled me over.

  • I almost cry with this!! :'-]!!!

  • @Stephiiii269 at 0:09 is when i start crying :)

  • @omnivorousdave you are totally RIGHT! those songs were EPIC and i can not imagine them without it. u have it spot on

  • WOW! E.T. is probably my most favorite of John Williams' music....and this was uploaded on my 21st birthday!

  • "score to a person's childhood"... Couldn't have said it better! Amazing how music can cause such strong emotion.

  • Is this with the pops?

  • french horn is the best instrument in the world. And John Williams has produced some of the best ever music for this instrument... thankyou

  • I got chills and goosebumps at the same exact time as everyone starts clapping and says oh my god. I can't imagine what it must have felt like actually being there.

  • Yeah you shouldnt really applaud at a concert like this.....idiots

  • 00:11. The director wants the crowd to sit on their fucking hands so the genius can be heard.

  • Bernard Herrmann was one of the best film composers in the world, the psycho music was a classic. John Williams is also brilliant, they both own.

  • You know a piece of music is devinity incarnate when you could be in real happy mood and the music plays and instantly your tearing up. Or you could be in such grief stricken state, but the minute you hear a certain theme/song and the sun has risen in your heart.

  • I Love that OMG part. I bet everyone in the audience felt like they were taking off :)

  • Almost 200.000 views and only 291 thumb ups? Get those thumbs up! And shame on you those 11 that did thumb down.

  • Oh mah gawd!

  • este tema es lo que mas uno recuerda de esa peli

  • if this song gives you cold chills please thumbs up

  • thank you for putting this on, real people listening to real music... i love the "oh my god" line!!! bless ya,,, dug bolton. england xxxxx

  • ahh john williams the worlds greatest music theif

  • John Williams is an absolute genius! He is the BEST movie composer HANDS DOWN!! His music gives me goosebumps.

  • John Williams, he belongs to us and composes our song.

  • m a metallica, heavy metal and rock fan and this shit is amazing idc what anyones says

  • FRENCH HORNS OWNED AT 1:47 WOOT!=)

  • I wish i could go and see something like this. It makes ur hairs stand up on end lol

  • haha the guy - "oh my god!!" exactly how i feel!

  • i hate when people clap like that when your trying to listen at beautiful music........ they ruin it at live events. Just shut up and listen!

  • @mexgangsta1 yeah people do not know anymore how to react. You are supposed to clap at the end of the song not during it. People need proper theater education.

  • @misterbearbe Sometimes the emotion is so strong that it exceeds the politeness! All these people found themselves immersed in their childhood instantly at the same time, without expecting!

They had the need to express this intense joy without thinking! And when I see the emotion that video causes to me, I think that if I would have been in that theater for real, I would 've react exactly the same that these people! Then cried of joy!!

  • @difolk I didnt see anyone exhibit impolite behavior during the entire performance, what you are talking about?

  • @JessOnTheRun Some people, this "misterbearbe" especially, complained about the fact that to applaud in the middle of a "song" played by an orchestra isn't polite, you just don't do it when you're "educated", that's the rule in an orchestra representation. And I admit we see Mr Williams (or the conductor) turn to the public when they applaud like surprised and disturbed. But this time I excuse people's rudeness because it's a magic moment!

  • @difolk its not considered rude... its of an older tradition to wait until the end of a performance to show your appreciation as it might disturb the performance... but that is thing of the past, and especially with pop cultural music such as film music... and trust me, as a professional musician, we appreciate getting a "rock star's" acceptance... sure does beat the hell out of the snooty, conservative boring types that you have to put a mirror under their nose to see if they are alive.

  • @mexgangsta1 Agreed... it's very rude to do that during a concert like this.

  • i like how the video starts off with someone saying" oh my gosh" thats how i felt hearing this ... good video

  • i like how it starts and the person says " oh my gosh" thats exactly how i felt.... good video

  • i wish i could play some snare or timpani in his enseble

  • im still kinda scared but i really like this

  • Watch Howard Hanson's second symphony, the third movement. The beggining and some others motifs are quite the same next to the soundtrack of E.T.

  • from ET to Schindler's List to everything else this man composes!

JW is truly great & his music moves my senses into emotially wonderful avenues!

  • Damn it! John Williams never fails to get you in the spirit to hear music, and believe in anything.

  • look at that pipe organ!

  • its got me in the mood to watch E.T.!!

  • god how moving! i am welling up. love this and love the film even though i cry like mad! x

  • Even though I was feeling in the beginning that the sound and video quality of this VID wasn't the best, when the audience reacted after they recognized the song- well that was just priceless

almost brings tears to your eyes

  • Comment removed

  • Can wait to go to a John W. concert

    Thank you for sharing

  • John Williams is a genius.

    100,000 / 5

  • the theme from E.T. is his best ever!!!

  • once I see huge paragraphs as comments on youtube its either 1. a massive argument about God/abortion/etc OR massive D Riders that go on and on about how this person is a God on Earth/is the greatest ever/blah blah blah. we all know john williams is a good composer lol... stfu please :D

  • Sends chills down the spine everytime...

  • I'd do anything to see him perform....

  • @Livingthedream17

    You mean that?

    It's is possible.

  • I love that man's response when the flying theme bursts forth at 10 seconds: "OH MY GOD!" My sentiments exactly! If there is a God, it speaks through people like John Williams and Steven Spielberg. There is so much mindless spectacle out there pretending to represent something genuine. Then you hear this, or you see his films. There is such a deep love and humanity in music like this. It's wonderful that all these years later it still feels like I'm hearing it for the 1st time.

  • where is this?

  • Makes me remember the wonderful days in Universal Studios Orlando sending E.T. to his home planet and flying over the city.......*crys*

  • I worked at Universal Orlando and remember those days too! Good times and a great place to work!

  • Im 18 and im pretty sure that still my favorite ride at the universal orlando resort. because i have memories form being 3 and 4 riding it. and the smell. the ride smells great. lol

  • @darkxhampster dude that ride is awesome. the environment is crazily realistic and the woods and fog just completes it

  • magnificent

  • I understand it's a magical moment when you realize what song they're playing, but honestly...audience, next time please applause at the END of the piece. so rude!!

  • lol, so rude!!

  • Hahaha, you know you're in the presence of something (or someone) special when the applause welcoming a piece of music is enough to drown out an entire orchestra.

  • this song is soooo fun to play!

  • I have the original picture disc vinyle LP on ebay uk going for 0.99

type in E.T SOUNDTRACK PICTURE DISC

    seller top.vision

  • I am currently playing this. I'm trying to find a decent recording, meaning sould quality. This orchestra is good. :)

  • John Williams doesn't just score films, he scores people's childhoods. Could you imagine Star Wars or Indiana Jones without his music?

  • I couldn't! John Williams is a genius

  • Wat a beautiful comment. Right on my friend

  • @omnivorousdave i agree :D he's such an amazing composer. his movie themes give me goosebumps!!

  • @omnivorousdave I laughed when I read this from happiness! I WISH he could see this comment. Its pretty much amazing!!!

  • @omnivorousdave No! and tbh i dont really want to, the mear thought would scar even the most toughened mind

  • exhilerating

  • One of the most moving scores I've ever heard. Combined by the placement of the film scenes when this is played, brings a tear to your eye.

Does anyone remember the concert when E.T. waddles onstage when this is played and the audience goes into hysterics? I saw it on a TV news report not long after the movie opened.

  • omg i'd love to see that lol if you find footage of it on youtube will you let me know? thanks

  • John Williams inspires me to become a French Hornist, I already have been playing but I am second chair out of two and everyone takes me for granit

  • certainly the greastest piece of music ever made , period. and thats comming from a 15yo who's peers are into rock music and rap music john is a living legend

  • OMG stelivo1, I know exactly how you feel. I'm 15, and no one understands how amazing John Williams is. The ET theme is the most beautiful thing I've ever heard. Gah. -dies-

  • its good to talk to another jw fan who's also 15, hes truely amazing and so is the movie :) also like the movie "knowing "soundtrack similar to jw's work but a little darker particular "caleb leaves" score by marco Beltrami. its also awesome movie like ET is

  • I too am 15, lol. Alot of 15 year olds i guess?, lol. =p

  • I'm 16. A total band geek and i totally understand how you and stelivo1 feels. John williams in like my inspiration for music. To know that if i'm good enough, maybe one day i'll get to play under his direction is the boost i need to practice!! Personally I prefer to listen to Gustav Holst. You might wanna check him out!

  • Hey, stelivo1,It's so great to hear kids like you say that. The media would have us believe kids today are all dim bulbs that only care about whatever crap MTV is pushing. True art like this makes the world better. These are not easy times for people that know how to be human.... how to FEEL! Sentimentality is considered lame. So be it. I KNOW magic exists when I hear music like this. So be sappy and sentimental! Perhaps you'll create art that moves people too. Peace.

  • I've seen Angelo Badalamenti and Dario Marianelli performing, this year James

Newton Howard, but this man.....my god he's a legend...

  • DOES ANYONE KNOW HOW I CAN SEE HIM LIVE! He came out to the Baltimore area last Summer...I'm soooo mad that i missed him. He is by far my favorite composer...

  • I know what you mean. I feel you.

The Florida Orchestra is in the middle of a three night performance right now in the Tampa, Fl. area, playing all of Mr. Williams' movie themes.

The conductor is a protege of Mr. Williams, having played violin for him on six soundtracks.

The last performance is tomorrow night at Ruth Eckerd Hall in Clearwater, FL.

Would love to go but don't think I'll be able to make it. ; ^ (

But you never know...maybe I could...the jury is still out....

  • Did you go?

  • nah, I wish

  • use the Force.......

  • Haha. I would if I could.

  • i listen to this for many years, every day, and still it is so new and fantastic!!!

In the end of composition i feel something indescribably !!!

From the time 3:00 and especially 3:17 !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i have creeps!!!!

  • John williams is not Great ..... HES A LEGEND!!!!

  • I am doing a report on him in band, it is an honor!!! He is th ebestest

  • "oh my god"...there is no better review for this piece

  • I'm so grateful to have been a kid growing up with Spielberg movies and John Williams music. This was a big part of the soundtrack to my life. I'm thankful for the genius that I was exposed to. Jaws was the first movie I remember seeing in the theater. I was 4 years old. The music was awe inspiring and made me want to make music. I will always be in AWE of John Williams accomplishments.

  • OMFG! The first or atleast one of the first movies I saw was Jurassic Park. The music made me for life. Williams is a true genius and should be in the same line as Bach, Mozart, Ravel etc.

  • john williams, he totally is fantastic, he did the most beautifull songs for the films

    no doubt his awsome

  • i have all the music if this man, and i goona tell you folks.. is iFANTASTIC

  • What I mean is, Steven Speilberg had a role in his greatness. Lol.

    But John Williams is fantastic!

  • Oh my god!

  • I don't get how John Williams comes up with these ideas for music? No other songs have been so famous as his from star wars, superman, indiana jones, harry potter, etc. Is there any other person as special as john williams who has such a creative mind and knows what will last in people's memories forever.

  • I think John Williams wouldn't have gone anywhere if he had not had the opportunity to work with someone like Steven Speilberg.

  • Well you do have a point. Steven Speilberg does always have good music along with his movies. Still John williams did other moves with Lucas for star wars, and jurrasic park.

  • ..youre a blasphemer. Jurassic Park was directed by Stephen Spielberg.

  • ah you're right. I was thinking that who directed Jurrasic park.

  • Yes, there is always the component of luck and relations in success. But, if John Williams didn't have this awesome talent he would not have gone anywhere.

  • john williams music is so magical...i cry every time i hear this song

  • John is an amazing composer and conductor! We should also not forget about the masters that made this all possible. Thank God for harmony!

  • soooooo nice !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • At 1:59 and the end is just so magical.

  • the bestest awesomest ahhhhhhhhsome

    piece eveeeeeeeeeeeeeeer!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • and I can't believe how amazing, perfect, unbelievable, the transition is in the beginning right into the ET theme song...I don't know if John Williams is better known for his works in composing these songs or how "mint" he makes the transitions. UNBELIEVABLE!

  • right on BlvdBrknDrms, it sent the chills through me too right in the beginning "oh my god" as stated in the video is right...

  • Oh wow, sends shivers through me every single time I hear this. Brilliant. It brings back fond memories of hearing my school orchestra (of which I was not part) playing this during assembly. Love it.

  • some one said o my god 00:10

  • gave me chills!

  • I have to comment. This would be spectacular to see, hear and in general witness. Amazing

  • Hi LanolinProductions. Can you rename this video to "oh my god". Thank.

  • this movie theme is the best ever

  • John Williams is a hero!

  • john williams its a genius, all those soundtracks created for one only person!!

  • They should make a "John Williams Greatist Hits"

  • Too many "Greatest Hits"!

  • haha yeh!

  • John Williams rules!!!SIMPLY THE BEST!!

  • DUDE JOHN WILLIAM FTW!!

  • Amazing, Simply amazing. Makes the hairs on the back of my neck stand to attention.

How did Einstein come up with Relativity?

How did Newton come up with the Laws that govern Heavenly bodies?

How did Wiles prove Fermat's Last Theorem?

They're all geniuses and the rest of us can only admire their work. Who knows how they do it? They're gifted.

Amen. Beautifully written and true in every word. You my friend are gifted in itself for writing such an insightful and evolutionary comment.

  • god the entire song gives me the chills

  • ME TOO specilly at 0:08

  • Not so high! Not so high! I love it!

  • the melody at 1:59 actually brings me to tears. My childhood just comes flooding back...

what a film and what a soundtrack!!!!

  • 1:59 That's when you leave the ground...

  • fantastic!!!

  • oh my ghad! lol

  • Where was this filmed?

  • I love the part from 1:47 - 1:53

  • yah, those tubas or whatever sound nice, huh?!

  • we're playing this song at palo verde this year, it totally awesome

  • my initials are E.T lol

    Euan Toner = E.T

  • *head explodes*

  • great!

    absolutly brilliant

but it was funny wen dat guy said "oh mhay ghad"

    lol lmao rofl

  • That part at 0:09 seconds is my MOST FAVORITE PART!!! omg!!! i wish i could play this!!

    AMAZING JOB!!

  • "OH MY GAAHHDD!! AAAAaaahhhh!"

    "shit I just jized..

...I love you Mr. Williams!!!, ur symphonies are so arousing!!"

  • hahahha lol

    shit i just jizzed hahahaha

  • what's funny is that it takes him 10 seconds to realize it's the ET theme. Guess he only knew the popular climax.

  • I think the whole audience realized it at that point, haha.

  • Yeah - that part bothers me too. What other piece of music sounds like that?

  • OUCH!!!

  • OMG, awesome.

  • "OH MAHHY GAHHD!"

  • never ever clap your hands while the orchestra is still playing!!!

SOUNDS BEAUTIFUL. John Williams is a genious

  • man.. everyone just HAD to clap in like the best part. haha i loved that "Oh my GOD!" at 0:09.

  • why people clap their hands during the movement!!??

  • haha! I love the geek that goes "oh my god!" On another note, this piece is fucking brilliant. Perhaps Williams best score?

  • This is william's best Theme. But I think Star Wars has the best score, there are so many great themes in Star Wars

  • Good point. I'm extremely fond of the Empire Strikes Back soundtrack. Especially the music used in the last few minutes of the film and Yoda's theme. But this ET theme is very magical.

  • OH MAHY GAHHHD

  • be goooooood right here
