Lol Farang is a complete idiot. Fan boy that has never driven anything but Beamers. Each company has great cars in their own perspective. BMW has the 3 series and nothing else. Only because the C class and A4 are not popular with the guys.

here in LA if you combine all the A6's and BMW 5 series on the road, you still will not see as much of these as you the mercedes e-class.I guess folks mainly buy these midsize luxury sedans to say "I'm richer than you fool!" so in that aspect, Mercedes does its job better than the other two

@MrDrnuri erm , BMW M5 is an M version of the 5 series and can't be compared to the regular A6 , but obviously the M5 is more silent at high speed , I saw the tester drinking coffee at 300kmh xD

@FARANG100 I don't think so , because I sat inside both of these cars recently on Christmas Eve reunion with my families , and I gotta say my cousin's A6 is definitely better than my dad's 5 series , I just like the way it handles , the interior design is amazing , the engine feels more responsive and it has all wheel drive systems for better grip unlike the 5 series , and the rear view isn't a problem since the A6 had a rear parking camera , and the amazing Bang&Oulfsen speakers is way better

@leoncarbon BMW looks like a shark, very beautiful and agressive, solid. The engines every year win the world contests (it speaks for itself). And the most important, BMW has got the best balance between driveability and comfort!!! It's no mere chance that BMW is more expensive than Audi and MB (everything else being equal). Pretty stellar actually. It's clear Audi actually takes pride in their cars and in their marketing. The first 3.0 TDI engine mentioned does 0-62mph in 6.1 seconds and also can get 39mpg. The 2nd 3.0 TDI engine mentioned can get 45mpg. The 2.0T mentioned can get 48mpg. Impressive that they are offering a manual transmission on this car. I just hope it is available with quattro. If only they could get together with the Japanese to help their reliability a bit.

@shammy63 Just look up the reliability reports over the last 10 years. That should explain it. Starting around 2000, Mercedes and Audi starting cutting costs dramatically and at the same time added a lot of complex electronic devices which are more prone to failure. I own 2 Audis, and because of the downgraded quality of the newer one, i would hesitate to buy one again.

Japanese reliability is mostly mythology and a false fabrication of the unscientific and improper statistical gathering methodology of Consumer Reports. My parents always bought Toyotas and I had a Toyota through college.  I've had Audis since then and the Audi has been more reliable than the Toyotas. The Japanese "luxury" brands have nothing even remotely close to Audi's cars.

@afterrain71 Umm, it's not just consumer reports, sorry. I own two Audis and they are wonderful cars and better in most ways to the Honda/Acuras I've owned, but overall reliability is not one of them. I can't speak for Toyota personally but they are horrible to look at and ride in. The Germans still can't get the electronics right and, and sometimes screw up the engines too. Just research 2.7T turbos or even 1.8T problems. Even the V6 3.0 has had its more than fair share of issues.
