Personally, i think that Ranka didn't have such emotion to sing these kind of songs. She is more suitable to sing fast, lovely songs while Sheryl is suitable for both.
Like universal bunny, sometimes hard to change tone in a song, but Sheryl did very very well. But it was much harder to Ranka, after all she was just a sixteen girl. Sheryl was a experienced singer. Sometimes, experience wins.
It's hard to appreciate "the Ranka version" of any of these songs. May'n just has such an expressive, emotional voice that her versions of (especially the) expressive and emotional songs in the series are just better.
That's not to knock Megumi. But May'n is just... well, she's had more time to develop as a singer.
when she first sings it in the tv show it sounds like it actually has some emotion to it but hear it just sounds like she singing just to sing.either way it still sounds awsome <3 go ranka
I really think that Sheryl's version is much stronger in comparison to Ranka's. Diamond Crevasse is meant to be a song of goodbye and no offense to Megumi because I like her voice, but she sounds a bit too cheerful for such an emotional song.
Sheryl's version is much better, I feel her voice more fitting for the lyrics. Also, Ranka's voice sounds like it's straining on the first notes. Although I do the like the drums in the chorus.
ranka's voice is more suited for songs like this in my opinion.

This goes to show that only Sheryl can sing 'Diamond Crevasse', and only Ranka can sing 'Aimo' LOL.
Ranka's voice is too high-pitched here, but I do like the marching-band-drums part around the end.

I liked it too, especially how they did a slightly different take for the last 41 seconds "echoing" the lyrics.
I still love Sheryl's "Empty Diamond Crevasse" but it didn't mean I didn't like this one :)
