@ltrocha an experienced WESTERN horseman ... In England many people shoe on front but not behind due to there is generally less weight behind so less wear so it seemed counter-intuive to me but yes after i posted I thought it would have something to do with the stops.

@nags2bitches, it makes perfect sense to an experienced horseman.
Unshod front feet will usually not get navicular syndrome or suffer from contracted heels.
Gotta shoe the hind feet if you expect the horse to stop hard.
