everyone stop comparing twilight to the vampire diaries; they're nothing alike. its like comparing a bird to a lion, there nothing alike they have different plots. I know some of you are probably going to reply "people have opinons" I respect it. I dont care if you like the vampire diaries and not twilight or vise versa,I used to hate both! now i love them. but you dont have to be rude about it. I bet Stephanie M. and L. J Smith have more of an imagination that you people do put together

I am a book lover and I am a follower of movies/series that are based on books.... but somehow one should consider the idea that not all scenes in the book are adapted... just like in the movie Twilight or to any other movie like Practical Magic for instance.. I have the book version as well as the movie version and its way different. But the important thing is they got the story... most of it though. Nevertheless, I like the series..

I absolutely agree, after watching first 4 series, I thought that I was watching some new film based on some other writer, not LJSmith, unfortunately, but the actor play and the actors themselves are beyond reality, esp. the brothers))) I liked it much more than Twilight.

Technically Vampire Diaries didn't copy Twlight, and I doubt Stephanie Myers copied The Vampire Diaries.

Honestly, who really cares? They both have their own pros and cons. To be honest, I hope The Vampire Diaries gets really big too, and more of it comes out because I read the books and they were amazing. It's not impossible to enjoy them both, this is like year of the vampires people. Enjoy it (:

Ok look, the book this show is based on first came out in 1991 which is more than 10 years before Twilight. If anybody is copying anybody, it is Twilight. Don't get me wrong, I love the Twilight series but I had toake this clear before people start pissing off on this show.
