  • why are the Irish and their offspring so prone to chemical dependencies? WHO CARES!!! AT LEAST I CAN DRINK AND SMOKE WITH THE BEST OF THEM!

  • @jmoney31705 Phew - luckily for you, alcohol and nicotine aren't chemicals! ... ?

  • @SnadeVildmand i dont smoke cigarettes just weed, and yes cigarettes do consist of chemicals, and being drunk and high is a chemical reaction

  • this song is getting me through an awful craving... (and other thin lizzy songs) the power of music!

  • Best Vocalist ever.

  • buy it now

  • this song makes me a little sad considering how young phill passed away, but it's still an amazing song on an amazing album. I have this one, bad reputation and I just ordered Jailbreak last week.

  • Black Rose is by far the best Thin Lizzy album in my opinion. Gary Moore is a quality guitarist but Phil Lynott is also a great bass player and song writer

  • This song helps you from goin over the edge...Brillant !!

  • Phil Lynott's singing is pure suffering. No other vocalist has ever expressed so much pain. Just listen to 3:11 Water rises to my eye every time I listen to that part.

  • What a track!!!! What???????

  • This is where it all began for me! First Lizzy album I ever bought.... got the lot now and am just in process of getting them all on CD as the vinyl is all in the loft!

  • man ..for a blues based lead player like g.m to rip that last solo to randy rhoads territory is mighty impressive.

  • @LanceHelmut Don't forget, Gary was also doing fusion by this time.

  • Philo base line really rocks,

  • Tragic listening to these lyrics on this day...here's to Phil.

    Gary too.

  • it was damn hard to give it up philo, thanks for the warning..... RIP phil, miss you daily..

  • HE WAS BORN LIKE A ROCKER ,HE LIVED LIKE A ROCKER,HE DIED LIKE A ROCKER!!!

  • thin lizzy has never dissapointed me..Rock on!!!!!!

  • 0 dislike? Nice.

  • You can hear on he's the way he sings that he really mean to give it up, but that he still really likes it!!!

  • This is the saddest song Phil ever wrote, not just because he failed to give it up or that it was in many ways about himself, A night in the life of a blues singer ticks those, but on the actual album the song before this is Sarah. He sings of the dearset thing in the world to him and right after sings of the drugs that made him loose sight of it all. Like one sick joke.

  • Me too!

  • 8 cans of dutch gold 20 blue,,,,,, fuck it. RIP phillo

  • Im asuming the last solo was Gary Moore am I right?

  • The last solo is truly amazing. That guitar breathes I swear it.

  • phil made this song 7 years before he died.

  • did i play this three weeks ago and post 3 times lol.sober now. got to give it up that stuff

  • such an honest look at his own addictions, wish he could have stopped..... sure miss him.

  • this another class song by lizzy, sad that it took phils dowward spiral to create this great rock anthem. rip g moore and phil lynott

  • @aerogun18 YES!!! :)

  • bust your brains out with that stuff, man.

  • I was thinking of buying this album in vinyl. Should I do it? :D

  • @aerogun18

    lol ;)

  • @aerogun18 Yeah you should...

  • @aerogun18 Yes, because when you hold the album in your hands you'll realise you own a piece of art.

  • @aerogun18 it today remains one of my faveourite records. There is no excuses not to buy it. Gary Moore actually plays something you would listen to on this. So yes!

  • @aerogun18 yup

  • @aerogun18 you should. I still have them all.. :o)

  • @aerogun18 I would, I bought this at a used record store a few years ago. I can honestly say it was the best purchase I've ever made :)

  • @aerogun18 YES

  • @aerogun18 I bought this on vinyl for my new LP player, i love the hell out of it

  • @aerogun18 yes you should. i bought this album on vinyl when it came out and the sound just gets better and better. thin lizzy is vinyl.

  • @aerogun18 Yes, you should. If you like good music that sounds good, you should.

  • @aerogun18 well i hope your pockets go deep

  • @aerogun18 yes :)

  • @aerogun18 Your answer lies within the question.

  • @aerogun18 I bought this albumn on vinyl when it came out.It still has the cellophane cover on it!

  • @aerogun18 Haha, I have it in vinyl!

  • @aerogun18 fuck aye!!

  • tune.

  • Self penned by an Irish genius,I guess he didnt realize how true these lyrics had become in his life.

  • that goes to 11 at least he played to guitar most of the population in the pub cant.

  • in my younger years i had a friend who did not like hardrock or metal but he was very impressed by this song..me after so many years its just great...really still i love it...the sound so good the voice of Phil Lynott so warm and full...what a genius he was

  • best thin lizzy

  • He didn't write it alone...it was a co-write with scott, who also needed to give up the white stuff!

  • phil and gary : champagne !!!!

  • kngscb,Disagree but aint it fantastic that we can aregue over which epic is best !!!we are as lizzy fans truly blessed!

  • Epic Is all i can say !!

  • Is that a... Bloody Rose?

  • Poor Phil how he must have been hurting,Phil your so brave, love you man,the very very best.Thank you so so much for the music.

  • @LaMadhatter Not to mention all the brothers in funk bands like Gap, Fatback, Parliament, and Cameo.

  • Who else could have wrote this song??? God, Lynott's lyrics go straight to my spine... one of the best rock front men, lyricists, bassists & legends out there. Guys, please support Thin Lizzy & more importantly, LYNOTT!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • By the powers! I cannot believe the youtube dislike button cult has not discovered this gem of a song.

  • Lizzy is my faworite band, never again going to come something like them. RIP Phil and Gary

  • love the harmonizing guitar!

  • See? Black people can rock!

  • This is brutally good.

  • @Jorsalfar The first solo is, in a word, blistering. The second one is nothing to sneeze at either - two amazing solos in one 4-minute song... can't argue that.

RIP Gary Moore and Phil Lynott - the music world weeps for you.

  • u shud have gave it up pal wud of loved to see you in d flesh.

  • met phil in a bar in dublin many years ago, he was a gentleman and the world is a sadder place without him, legand, this is my fav song of all time.

  • PHIL LYNOTT WAS A LEGEND AND WITHOUT HIS PAIN YOU WOULD NOT HAVE THIS BEUTIFUL MUSIC HEAVY AND MELODIC TOUGH AND SWEET SO DONT BE SAD OF HIS DEATH BELIEVE ME I KNOW!

  • One word. Awesome.

  • R.I.P. GARY MOORE

  • RIP Gary Moore. Your contributions to the rock world have not gone unnoticed.

  • ...that stuff.... rip gary moore.

  • One of the most talented artist EVER!! If only you had given it up Phil. So sad!

    Superb album!! Thanks for upload.

  • Can you hear the badass cocaine voice he's got?

  • Gary Moore and Phil Lynott = AWESOME!!!

  • FUCK...savner de skæve tider!!! Total corny det nummer der...

  • I've gotta fucking give it up!!!!!!!!!!!! Jesus Christ almighty, this band never ceases to amaze me, after YEARS of listening to Thin Lizzy and indeed Phil Lynott's other ventures, it will NEVER cease to entertain and embrace me. Amazing, best song lyricist that I have managed to stumble upon anyways...

  • Second-favorite Thin Lizzy song, after "Whiskey in the Jar". The only bad thing is, Phil Lynott didn't "give it up".

  • @dudestr5552 This song was actually written about Brian Robertson beleive or not. Pretty ironic huh?

  • @cathead19869 That is pretty ironic. But it's still a fantastic song. Love that first solo.

  • @dudestr5552 but he knew he should, but he was unable to kick the stuff unfortunately..
