  • cool cover

  • the best cover ever done

  • A very good cover of the ABBA classic, reminds me of University in Newcastle 79-82 oh happy days, life was so simple then and the music was so so good, The Tube on Friday night, Echo & the Bunnymen, Yazoo, Human League, Siouxsie and the Banshees, aahhh.

  • Ty for classic one with Agnetha!

  • The b-side to this was also great: 'All Things are Nice'. A very funny disection of beach culture.

  • fab!!!!!

  • their concert last week in Belgium was surprisingly good...

  • Rich, the day before you came.... At the airport of Philadelphia....

    The best resumption of ABBA,

  • Neil's 53 now, where the heck did all those years go???!!

  • neil is cute but abba's is better. Can't he afford to get his teeth fixed

  • @arcadiaduran .Apparently,if a person's top two teeth grow with a gap between them,it means they were meant to come into money and success.Maybe when you where born, you were that fucking ugly, even the doctors slapped your mother and kicked you up the ward.So before you go making pathetic remarks about people, take a good long look in the mirror at yourself first

  • @arcadiaduran you americans are obsessed with people teeth from this country. does this explain why every teen i see in america wears braces, even though they probably don't need them!?!?

  • This is one of these songs that far exceeds the original, which is a testament to the band. Love it!!!!

  • Its better of ABBA

  • In some ways... better than the original!

  • I know this from a german book calls "Splitterherz". I love it (the song), but it's not like the music I normaly listen to. (I hope, it is allright with my writing....)

  • brilliant, remember it soo well, same as living on the ceiling, lovely memories!!

  • This is a great version.

  • great cover coz its a great song only a rapper could ruin this song

  • @alanhug LOL!!!!! This song is fantastic.

  • on dirait Agnetha du groupe ABBA dans le train serait ce elle?moi je pense mais je peux me tromper!!!!

  • love neils smile at the end ...fab x

  • @wendywoozy i think it ruins that part of the video, he seems a bit desperate and fragile, very passionated and good acting.....then he started smiling and ruins everything....pity..

  • @wendywoozy I just enjoyed the video, didn't want to analyse it.

  • @wendywoozy Neil still is a very handsome man... check out their new stuff... You'll agree with me. And, the smile is still there.

  • its terrible

  • fan bloody tastic cover...

  • @52hermitage I agree with you here totally! Brilliant cover!

  • Anyone notice that agnetha from ABBA appears in this vid?

  • @Doggie1463

Is that the guy with the moustache?

  • sorry about the multiple entry below. cheers.

  • this is such a good track, i loved Blancmange. Whatever happened to them/

  • @sueblue101 we are around google us and look for blancmange.co.uk

  • I do really like this track. This is far better than the ABBA version.

  • =)

  • hes gorgeous

  • Great song, thanks ABBA, great singer, thanks Neil Arthur ( What are you doing these days?) Great video, thanks all concerned and PimpinBassie2 for uploading it. Would love to hear it in HQ stereo and view it in HD.

  • @TheCaleyman blancmange.co.uk

  • Agnetha ezt a dalt szívvel-lélekkel adta elo, most miért kellet így elrontani?

  • Agnetha looks ravishing

  • Cool.

  • ABBA's version is welll beter...... they killled this song

  • 1.26 Sorry missed it What have I missed?

  • I like this version because it looks a little bit irish..

  • Always liked this version of Abba's Day Before You Came, and if you can find the 12 inch remix, that's even better!

Blancmange were a great band, and I love the reference to the Brit author Barbara Cartland as well.

    Top notch single!!

  • no-one notices 1.26

  • @whackiey I've watched it over and over - please tell me what I should be noticing? :-)

  • @poppylights I agree. Reckon it's a joke?

  • I must have listened to this song, so many times before....

And undoubtedly each time I loved it more and more....

    The day before you came....

  • the Real Tuesday Weld did it the best.

  • the rel tuesday weld did it the best.

  • Great cover. I'm surprised no one has uploaded Lorraine's My Nurse. As far as ballads go, people are missing out on that one.

  • great song at blancmange and

    great video

    5stars

  • Nice touch in the vid at1.26

  • ...the latest one by Barbara Cartland...or something in that style :-D

  • I love blancmange, takes me back to my youth, still love neil arthur xx

  • I've never heard this before, but to me this style of music sounds modern again.

  • There aren't many cover versions better than the original but this is one!

  • To say that this is a good cover is quite an insult to the ABBA classic .. my opinion, I'm not sure how many pple agree with me ..

    ..

(uhh.. the lonesome-ness .. the chilly lonesomeness - its nowhere to be found in this man's steely voice)

  • @kkdkk7 Yes, exactly. I agree 100% with you.

  • I love ABBA and I hate covers. This is an exception. Great version of a great song.

  • I'd forgotten how good this version is despite sticking very closely to the original. People should realise that at the time of this cover, Abba were perceived as being very cheesy & really rather naff & anything but cool. Even less the writers of some of the most perfect modern pop music. This was prior to Erasure's "Abbaesque" ep & the later abysmal covers by the likes of Steps! I still can't decide which version I like best. There are aspects of both I prefer.

  • I have been an ABBA fan since their beginning. I have to say, this is nicely done. Different...............but nicely and tastefully done. Congrats. BTW, the images of Agnetha definitely helped! :)

    peace

  • To settle the argument-------------YES, that is Aggie from ABBA.

    Ther. Done.

    peace

  • Is it just me or does the name Colin Firth spring to mind when watching the lead singer

  • Just got in from watching them at the Academy in Liverpool. Showing his age but wearing it well ! lol.. Thanks for a great night !

  • I rarely like 'covers' (rip offs - somebody making money from somebody else's hard work etc is what I'd normally say), and even more rare, is for me to prefer the cover. But I make an exception from time to time. This is one of those times.

  • Instead of Marilyn French, the singer reads Barbara Cartland in bed? A guy? What on earth were they thinking when they changed the text like that?

  • for once a cover version which takes the song to another level. angst sticken tunage.

  • Agnetha just got me with her stunning voice,...........even though this is a also a very good version.............but somehow i like the Abba one better.........

  • Sublime!

  • Brilliant! So glad Blancmange are back with us!

  • he is so lush!!

  • both versions are great.its such a brilliant song to start with

  • The new BLANCMANGE album 'Blanc Burn' is due out on the 7th March 2011 and will be supported by a UK tour. Check out blancmange.co.uk for more details and to download a FREE MP3.

  • I think its a parody i like the humor behind it lol

  • Abba's version is better this song has no emotion...

  • great song

  • The ABBA version is better by far! Strange that the original Agnetha clips were used in the video?

  • I would like to ask every peoples who likes this song: Which one version of this song is better: of original by ABBA or this one by Blancmange? My oppinion its: this by Blancmamge is much much better than by ABBA.

  • @kagelta Well, for me which one is the better really depends of my mood of the day. I just really like both versions. Blancmange because they change the mood enough to make it their own. If you try to outdo Abba in their own sound, you'll probably loose. My general opinion of covers: don't try to replicate, make your own version.

  • Now you can all see Blancmange. They are out and about again!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • first see agnetha than die.

    brilliant vid and cover.

wait till the vicious smile at the end. melts my heart.

    parody or ode?

  • The day Blanc Mange made a mistake,The original is with a lot more passion, never understood this cover!

  • @a090006 you're deluded mate. You just don't understand New Wave that'll be it.

  • @gothicphilosopher Blind vision, living on the ceiling, those songs destroyed my ears(together with a lot off other new wave songs),but hahaha ,who cares!! :-) .... I will never understand why they made this cover

  • @a090006 Not surprising you don't understand the cover when you can't even grasp Blancmange is one word not two.

  • @ccmr30mamba hahaha Blancmange !!!!

  • brilliant! yes I would be making eyes at him if I were on his train! lol

  • a great song made even better by blancmange =) and hes yummy =P

  • a great song made even better by blancmange =)

  • This was a brilliant cover of this wonderful song.

  • please take a look at the video above 'blanc back'. more from blancmange soon.

  • Totally tubular to the max!

    xoxo

    The Clarences

  • Ok maybe it isnt but it looks like her, coincidence?

  • @MavisRileyJunior bloody looks like her to me haha

  • @beckerleyanna It IS Agnetha. It's a clip from the video of Abba's version.

  • Is the blonde woman Agnetha from Abba?

  • When I first arrived in KL and walked into my hotel room, this video came on the TV. I had the song on cassette tape, but didn't know there was a video and certainly didn't expect it to be the first thing I'd see in Asia. Made me feel less of a Stranger, and sense the connectedness and common sympathies of people around the world. That was a long time ago, and the song still moves me.

  • COR! when he smiles at 4 mins Mmmm! Always loved this group when I was a teenybopper!....

why do people click " dislike" on vids is beyond me...if you dont "like"...move on to something you do like! some people just arent happy in this life..

  • I didnt know till yesterday that this was an abba song, so I thought i would listen to the abba version, much as I like Abba, I prefer this version, I think the abba vocals are quite weak compared to their other songs. great song.

  • As close to abba as you're gonna get on this one and wonderful in it's own right. He's a charmer!

  • Except the episode when J.R. got shot. I must have been really pissed that night! Oh well.

  • I'm up the bloody tree!

  • superb tune highly underated

  • This version (video) is more direct; better depicts today's life.

  • a very good cover of the ABBA song, he has a strong and clear voice (he should have gone into musicals),am glad the instrumental bridge was shortened as opposed to the original which was too long (it was a bit monotonous and overwrought), nice to see glimpses of Ms. Faltskog in this video, no doubt inserted as she was quite a looker in those days and as a tribute to the group - who must have known the end (of Chapter 1) was in sight when they recorded this wistful piece of melancholy.

  • so long to hear this song again, oh the lyrics still come to my memory.

  • top tune love this virsion...

  • great

  • THIS MAKES ME SO UNCOMFORTABLE

  • A good cover of a great song. This is Abba's criminally neglected masterpiece and Blancmange do it justice. Thank you for uploading it.

  • He had a great singing voice and he smashed this cover tune

  • What a great band. I have always preferred this to the original.

  • The lyrics are simply great

  • This is such a cool tune. It is actually a cover of an ABBA song. I know, ABBA Steve? But just listen to the words, it's a pretty cool goofy little song. Or I'm just weird. And I can handle that. I like weird songs. LOL. And Blancmange is one of my favorite quirky bands from the 80's. 'Living on the ceiling' and 'Don't tell me' are great songs

  • Brilliant,classic and timeless

  • Y este pelagato quien chucha es?

  • @srgugyto falta de educación

  • no it doesn't

  • I think their version is just too similar to Abba's and therefor not really all that brilliant like most other Blancmange's tracks... Still... Neil Arthur is just sheer eyecandy... the beautymark and the gapped frontteeth... makes me melt down likepink candlewax... always has...

Still... I had hoped they'd make a comaback last year, as announced... but... no such luck...

  • @macintosser - U.K. tour announced, 3 dates in the Spring and a new album!

  • @kyivconnection

Wow.. brilliant! And it's been long overdue!

  • Great track

  • Faster, more upbeat version of ABBA's original, but ABBA's version had mystery, subtle nuancy, and melancholic strength.

  • i neva new they did a version of abbas song, it was a vry gd song of abba a shame it didnt do very well, seeing it was their last eva song ... how many more covers is there? ive heard 3 ???

  • well..... not bad

  • I saw Blancmange live once at Wembley when they supported Paul Young. I was in the second row and something must have been wrong cos the singer stormed off during a break in the lyrics and really ripped into this bloke, then came back and carried on. i still wonder to this day what happened

  • klasse Aufnahme ist echt gut gelungen !!

Genauso wie das original wo auch klasse ist !!

  • I never heard this single until now, though read about it again and again in British music mags and papers. What a great cover. There is something very fitting about this - ABBA was the first major Europop band, and Blancmange really was one of the second generation greats ( though never got much recognition). Thanks PimpinBassie2 for posting this.

  • just love this version,,classic

  • It's strange, but yet understandable, that this was a bigger hit than the ABBA original. Blancmange truly did a great version of this song!

  • You remind me of Bjorn...a young boy that was hidden away in Norway? Frida visited once to watch the Northern Lights and to make sure Bjorn's son was safe. Whatever? I love your voice. If you are related to Bjorn....stay out of Hollywood...off of the red carpet...out of theatres where it is rumoured that many an actress has disappeared. You feel like him? You feel good!

    iris wigle-cutforth

  • Very good

  • One of the smartest videos I've ever seen

    Great fun.

  • looks like a young Colin Firth!! Loved Blancmange in the 80s.

  • @angelaharlem and his cheeky sexy smile at the end mmmmmm

  • "Blancmange" just does it sooo much better than ABBA, as much as I love them!

  • I had this.....it had a bit of 'Dallas' theme in it ??

We can not compare abba with the beatles....please !

Abba were good, as a pop band............period !

The Beatles.......helped changed life as we knew it.. They pathed the way, for Brish culture to have such an influence on the world the past 30 years

  • @ronnie7749 Some might say a very negative influence.

  • what a shit!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! ABBA the best

  • Comment removed

  • I had no idea this was an Abba cover. I HATE Abba but love blanc mange.

  • @dovie2blue

you can't be human by saying that you HATE Abba. Abba was as important for the music as the Beatles were! Sad to hear that someone hates Abba

  • @ESCTorsten I am actually an android, you spotted me! No, seriously. I know tons of people love Abba but I think their music is just so ridiculous. Everyone's taste in music is different and no one is right or wrong...well, except me because I just am right! LOL JK. Glad you love Abba and now, go listen to "Fernando."

  • @dovie2blue

but withou Abba this song wouldn't hve been done by Blancmange. Blancmange had a better one: "Waves"

And btw: "Fernando" is one of the songs I don't like.

  • @dovie2blue i am happy to inform you that blancmange has atleast 3 studio releases, MANGE TROUT, HAPPY FAMILIES, and BELIEVE YOU ME, which i own on vinyl and/or cassette. they also have some compulations: BEST OF, SECOND HELPING BEST OF, LIVE AT THE HACIENDA, PLATINUM COLLECTION, and HELLO GOOD EVENING, which i dont own. thanks-

  • great cover oh the 80's ha ha!!

  • Great parody, it takes out the sorrow and sadness of the song and somehow this makes you smile a couple of times

  • great stuff, this track also has amazing bass synth

  • though a great cover, the sundays version of 'wild horse' is hard to beat

  • must have seen 100+ concerts in the 80s and 90s. but never seen blancmange, they have always been one of my top bands. love this tune but alway liked 'waves' better

  • @CollectorOfMusic I don't know if they ever toured. They only put out 2 albums, for years, it was almost impossible to even find their music.

  • @CollectorOfMusic Good news ...Blancmange are touring in 2011, I'm at Sheffield o2 March 8th 2011 to see them :0)

  • mellow and uplifting.makes u really care about the singer

  • Oh Yeah,give me the 80's music anyday,modern shite can't even come close enough.A++++++++

  • While it's partially a mickey-take of Abba, it's still a great version in its own right. Agnetha is in the video too, so Abba didn't seem upset about it!

  • And what was the point of this? The guy needs to take singing classes.

  • he's a great singer

  • @forelight

perhaps you could enlighten us as to why he should have taken "singing classes," oh wise one.

  • @equin0xia So he would know how to sing instead of showing off and gazing intensely into distance.

  • @equin0xia Well he does sound a lot like Stephen Mallinder of Cabaret Voltaire (one of my favourites) so he can't be that great a singer. I like Neil Arthur's voice but I do think he's well out of his comfort zone on this track although it somehow suits the track perfectly.

  • Does anyone realise this cover is a piss-take of the Abba song? "I must have read a while, the latest one by Barbara Cartland or something in that style" :)

  • it may or may not be a 'piss-take' of abba but they'e abba fans anyway

  • A beautiful song of optimism and hope. The original,is wonderful, this is not so far behind.

  • What a great cover !!!

    Beautiful vid too.

  • I recommend whoever like this track, please watch Autumn leaves by Coldcut, you may like it as well.

  • thank you so very much for posting this..... best version ever

  • East meets West, Beautiful sound.

  • remember play this song again and again and again on cassette ...ummm .... what a beautiful song. 80's is full with good memories, thank for posting this song.

  • one of the best covers for a long time. its better than the original for sure
