I love Del, and I'm sorry, but to be totally honest his freestyle does not match up to his skill in the studio (It could just be he was having an off day here). There were a few high points, but for a lot of it he just sounds like he's searching for rhymes. I mean, there's a fairly well known video of Mos Def freestyling, which shows that he really knows what he's doing.

If you hit the mic without any preconceived ideas of what you are going to say, this is an incredible job! Every other G4TV "Freestyle 101" I have heard is all pre-written. It is just impossible to make the kinds of rhymes and similes they make on the fly.

No one can come up with complex and interesting similes off the cuff. A freestyle may have some stutters, some rhymes that go nowhere, etc.
