@Ape65 This is actually pretty great... and I'm not just saying that because I grew up watching it as a kid... You're right! - It's TRULY surrealistic - but SO SURREAL, it transcends surrealism... it's, like, SURSURREAL! It's UNCONSCIOUSLY TRANSSURREAL - THAT'S what makes it so GENIUS!
Wait..... I thought the worst sitcom of all time was a tie between Outsourced and Joanie loves Chachi (which, by the way, had the worst intro of ALL TIME).
In his book, TV North: Everything You Ever Wanted to Know About Canadian Television, Peter Kenter says "The Trouble With Tracy is universally considered the worst Canadian TV show of all time, especially by those who have never seen it."
I remember enjoying the show. It wasn't perfection for sure, but it was fun. Making 7 shows in 5 days? How much quality can we expect? ;)
@ninjaskillz1011 just some indian girl trying to be white, the main actress cant act for shit, the writing sucks and its worse then Icarly in terms of plots.
I used to skip off school, puff a doobie & watch the TV. I loved Tracy @ 9am, she was hot. I've run a successful business for the last 20 years. This was some of the best Canadian production of the times. A forerunner of its genre here. Adventures in Rainbow Country, The Last of the Mohicans & Forest Rangers getting top billing from this corner. There's not many rated higher to this day, TPB of course is the biggest hit, with a bullet.
It's still better than Seinfeld. Reasons: No Elaine, no George, No Jerry, No Neuman, and no Kramer. If any of these people were my friends, I would have no problem shooting them dead on the spot... Kind of like the people in this sitcom. Bad thing is, I liked it when I was a kid... Of course, I was 5 and I thought Tracy was hot.
This is no worse than some (not all) NPR or certain Broadway shows over which the self-anointed intelligentsia fawns in New York City...."har-har, such a riot, dahling!"
Had to tell you - as bad as this is, I believe I've seen the worst of all. It was a pilot from the late '50s for a show called "Rosie", about a talking stray dog who gets adopted by a family. The pilot was produced bu Max Shulman (who gave us "Dobie Gillis"). The "dog" is actually a man in a mangy, creepy looking dog suit. I saw it on "SomethingWeird" on their "On Demand" channel, and it may more than likely be on their website as well. Easily the worst sitcom ever.
@rfitzhen I actually saw a great documentary about that subject years ago on CBC (a Canadian TV station). For a country that produced so many great comedians, producers and writers we sure can`t put together an even half decent sit com. Our forte seems to be in sketch and improv...
It is awful, but I'd still rather watch it than most reality TV. Mind you, I'd rather play "E.T." for the Atari than watch reality TV. And I hate "E.T." for the Atari!
it was on CTV - there's your answer. all shows from canada SUCKED. SCTV (the most unfunny show ever, it is a miracle some of the stars hit it big in the USA)
I just read about this show on Wikipedia &, being from America, I've never seen it before, so I had to see if it was as bad as the rumors said it was. Yeah. It was that bad.
It wasn't that bad, low budget is better than no budget. this came out back in the day when you had to get off the couch to change the channel, or turn up or down the volume. you had not much else to compare it to. thanks for the good memories. cheers
WORST sitcoms? Try Michael Strahan's show, or The Emeril LaGasse show, or A Year At The Top (with Paul Shaffer and Greg Evigan), or Joanie Loves Chachi, or Sally Struthers' All In The Family spinoff Gloria. This show is as bad as any of them. Or Love On A Rooftop, I'm sure YouTube nation can think of others as well. These were just the ones I thought of off the top of my head.
Yup - it sucks. No worse than most sitcoms currently on TV now (or any of the "Tween" oriented shows on the Disney or Family channel). Although "Tracy" is nice (and so is the hot redhead in the white dress). Oh yeah - about that noise at 2:48, that's the sound of the home audience farting at this show en masse.
...wtf???...i've never seen this before...what a convoluted script...and, the "murderer," who is either talking to the canned audience or reading from cue-cards breaks the third wall and references the fact that they're all doing a sitcom -- this is seriously batty....
Heh, I've never seen the show but I agree with one of the commenters below, that it looks so bad it's actually quite amusing, kind of like the movie, "Attack of the Killer Tomatoes." What television station is it on? I wouldn't mind watching more.
She's directing theatre with the Lakeside Players in St. Catharines, Ontario. Her husband, Frank Proctor taught Radio Broadcasting at Niagara College briefly before retiring.
I know this show is crap, But I kinda like it in a "Ed Wood" sort of way, you know, so bad it's good! At least it isn't as bad a Flavor Flav's sitcom!!

I was in Mississauga, Ontario years ago and this is the only thing I can remember of Canadian TV. It was worse than Full House. But only by a little. I have no idea how long it ran.
I like the cop uniform. Very official looking! A black shirt and a fake badge from "Honest Ed's" maybe? Just noticed they were playing the theme music from Orson Welles "Black Museum" radio show as he's about to open the trunk. I love this show...but then again I love Plan 9. Steven Weston I believe didn't jump as so much fall accidently from the upper story of his house while on prescription drugs. This should be on DVD!!!!
The economic and time pressures of producing 130 episodes in a single season (seven shows were filmed every five days) meant cheap, wobbly sets, no outdoor filming, a laugh track instead of a live studio audience, the use of single takes, the reuse of 25-year-old radio scripts, and other shortcuts that ensured a poor-quality product. Even flubbed lines and bloopers sometimes ended up airing, because the show couldn't afford retakes
Not into Doctor Who, but have seen it here and there. BTW, that a c&p off of Wikki. It's something that I would watch... happily. Anyone else think she looks like a Canadian Nicole Kidman? You'd think TV Land (Canada) or Dejaview would air it for the Cancon.
WHAT!!!! I love Chinatown To Kill A Mockingbird The Apartment Roman Holliday Bringing Up Baby on and on so I like good movies. I think you have to have a taste for the cornie too. This is corn to the hilt and I think it was made that way and if not I still see it now and have a grin on my face because it is so cornie. :)
The Youngs had telephones everywhere. In the kitchen, on the desk in the kitchen, on the end table opposite the desk in the kitchen. I watched this show every noon on CTV when I was in primary school at home for lunch. I loved Barbara Hamilton's dual role --in a single TV season-- as maid Mrs. Bell and as psychic Masha Natasha. If it makes you happy to be happy, you be happy!
I thought this show was aweful but i at the time i never missed an episode cos i so wanted to be just like tracy-- she was cute, perky, looked great in cloths, and had a different hairdue on every show , and i copy every one of them--lol
I like how it is supposed to be set in the US. Do Canadians not realize they have a hideous accent that is a dead giveaway of being Canadian?

The Youngs had telephones everywhere. In the kitchen, on the desk in the kitchen, on the end table opposite the desk in the kitchen. I watched this show every noon on CTV when I was in primary school at home for lunch. I loved Barbara Hamilton's dual role --in a single TV season-- as maid Mrs. Bell and as psychic Masha Natasha. If it makes you happy to be happy, you be happy!

What year was this made? It seems very "Mary Hartman"ish, and I'm not sure which one came first.
If Mary Hartman came first, I could see how the people who made this were hoping lightning would strike for them too.

Too bad William Hung didn't sing the theme song, would have been fitting..of course he wasn't born yet when this was televised.
It was a BAD show...
Sadly, I recall some of it...must phone my therapist now :)

Thank you for putting this up, I was trying to describe the show to someone, there are no words to describe how bad this show was without a clip.

The best part about this clip was the presence of Cynthia Browning with that gorgeous hairdo. The rest...ugh.
Anyone out there got some eps of Custard Pie? I've been wanting to see that one.
