What a goal! He lacked the pace for that left wing position but he filled in a gap that England hadn't been able to for many years. Now Ashley Young slots in nicely but I still think Cole has a place in the team. World Cup 10' was a shambles with a horrid team (HESKEY aka Lenny Henry WTF!) and Gerard put on the left wing?!

I might be part of a minority but I really think Cole has a lot to give England even with Wilshere and Cleverley in the squad. Fingers crossed for Euro 10!

@vodkacheese911 The point was most (all) of England's wingers were right footed and would therefore always be cutting in from the left wing to put the ball on their right foot, rather than sending a left foot ball across the face of goal like a left winger should.

So the media had a right moan about various problems/causes etc, and joe cole turns up on the left wing to score a screamer with his right foot, which shut the Daily Mail and co up for a bit.
