I consider this game to be the best on the PS2.

The battle system is the best ever made IMO, simply fanstastic. The soundtrack is solid and the story and settings are really cool and shows that you don't need hours of dialouge in a game if you have a really good writer.

My Personal Opinion;

Persona 3: Good game, but nowhere near as big as its hype.

SMT III Nocturne: Fantastic Rpg that manages to be really dark, really engaging, and really, really, really fun.

Persona 3: Great game, amazing soundtrack.

Nocturne: Amazing game, good soundtrack.

Persona 4: Great game, great soundtrack.

@XDragon097 Same. I prefer Nocturne as well (and DDS too) because they deviate away from those terrible anime cliches and angsty drama.

@crazy4guitar3000 Oh god, I hear ya man. :P I HATED all of the bajillion anime cliches P3 uses and the number of times it tried to pull of "drama" by poorly done deaths to the only characters who were actually interesting.

Nocturne and DDS just cut the crap and let it all out, all the while Nocturne actually managed to be extremely gray rather than your typical black and white.

@charger619c I agree with The Zetamax. The quality really fluctuates (and it does so at different times depending on the person and the music they like). Supra has uploaded much more unappealing VGMs in the past then uploaded really good ones shortly after.

And from wikipedia, explaining the base of one of the 3 endings (spoilers?): Musubi is a Reason based on solitude and isolation, where the Self is absolute. Every single person would live in his or her own independent world, completely sealed from any other living being. Using one's mind, a person could shape their world at will into their own personal paradise, living free from the unwelcome interference of others.
