What I love best about this short is that it reflects on the relationship of Woody and Buzz. They started out as enemies, and throughout the entire trilogy they worked thier way from rivals, to much closer than best friends. Same thing with Day and Night, they didn't like each other at first, and eventually they saw the positives in each other. I don't know if Pixar did that on purpose or not, but I wouldn't be surprised if they did. The people at Pixar are such brilliant thinkers.

DUDE!!! me too!! I cried when I watched day and Night, I cried when they almost got melted, and I REALLY CRIED at the end. Im 24 and I was about 10 when Toy Story came out so I feel like i have grown up with Andy!! PIXAR is the ABSOLUTE BEST!!! THEY CAN DO NO WRONG!! its my dream to be an animator but i cant afford the school!!! Maybe one day....

day and night could also serve as a representation of divisions in humanity.

clear differences are seen (in races, religion, gender etc), disliked and conflicted over. but over time, the highlights of both sides are illustrated and shared, all coming together in unity in the end :)

the second part hasn't quiitee been perfected well enough in the world.

but hey this short is great <3 :)

Of all the Pixar films I've seen and loved, this one stands out from them all. It was immensely creative, I was stunned at what I had just seen. The way emotion was portrayed, even when there was no talking or movement, was fantastic.

Well, the creators are wrong. They may have TRIED to make it so that the scenes inside the dudes who their emotions, but they did NOT do that. The day the area behind him as one time and the night one shows the place behind him as 12 hours later.

If it showed the emotions and feelings, then 1:22 would be EXTREMELY inappropriate for children and immature for adults and would be deleted immediately (...given what his pelvis is doing on top of the woman).

I have to admit, since Monsters Inc (and probably Finding Nemo), I started to get bored by the Pixar movies. They were really less exciting to be honest and not very funny. But I was surprised by "Day & Night" especially by how cartoony it was. It's more cartoony than the generic animation we see in Disney today, especially the expressions and acting. Maybe we'll see Pixar applying some of the cartoony-ness into their own CGI movies. They need to realize they're making cartoons, not live action.

I think it's unrealistic to say that this short was better than Toy story. It's alot more difficult to maintain audience interest over 90mins than over 5 mins, so the comparison is unfair. Having said that, I thought this short was fantastic, & I thought TS3 was fantastic too. The Toy Story movies have always been my favourite 3D movies right from the 1st, & they really prove that it is the quality of the story & characters, not just the animation, that make an animated 3D movie. Pixar rocks!

I can never applaud Pixar enough for its short film support. It has reintroduced the idea of the short film to the masses! Growing up in Canada, I remember watching old NFB animated shorts before movies or on TV... I really miss those! I think this film, probably the most experimental thing Pixar has done to date, shows that above anything, the company has FAITH in its audience to be critical and accepting viewers.

Maybe you do not understand this concept but most movies tend to pull you into an emotional trip and then the beliefs and ideas expressed in that movie are tied in with your own. Movies have had a huge impact on american culture and the way people think.

Day and Night, at first, I thought was just some odd tech demo, or proof of concept. I was really disappointed by this Pixar short, and for the first time, I might add. The meaning it conveyed was that of a 1960s PSA. Really, really stupid stuff. It seemed as if Pixar was trying to condense down the emotion evoked by one of their amazing films into a few short minutes--which did NOT work. I'm really surprised that so many people love it.
