the fastest i ever hit was 105mph or 170km in my 06 ls but it never showed any limited to that speed i just let off the gas after 170km cause the highway was ending to stop lights and plus the tires i have are balled on the sides low psi but now im at 36psi, 44psi max on the tires

Only can go 107 which a small versa with a 1.6 can do 118mph with only 107hp. I have seen more chevys pulled over than Nissan or toyota. I think the 2.7 engine thats in charger a lil bit faster than this with 178hp. I dont think that chevy can compare with Nissan.

Awada85, I have a 2004 3.4 impala and if I floor it at D it will shift to 2nd gear at 45mph but, if I put it in 1st gear and floor it, it will shift to 2nd gear at 50mph. The 2nd gear could reach about 90mph floored before it shifts to 3rd gear. With the overdrive, at 78mph I get 30 miles per gallon. It is not impossible for 3.5 because they have higher rev limit than the older 3.4.
@awada85 Read the dash, it says MPH. Since when did a M look like a K? Revving a bit past 6000 RPM with a 2.92 first gear and 2.86 final drive; do the math... Of course it can, and it obviously did.
If that's the case, then apparently it takes 22 seconds for this car to get to 60 MPH (100kph). Plus, a 4-speed would have longer gears. more gears (usually) means lower speed differences between gears.

It's because it's a 4 speed that it reaches 60 in first gear.
Less gears = taller gears
Have a Buick Century, it shifts into 2nd at about 80-85 km/h
They do taller gears for better mileage (much lower cruising RPM on highway), but sacrifice acceleration. If this was say a 6 speed, you'd be shifting at a much lower speed (different gear ratio). People really know about cars these days...
@dtrip09 Overdrive has nothing to do with 1-3 gear shifts. Overdrive (torque converter lockup) won't engage at WOT in 1-3 gear. It has NO effect on performance or speed. The torque converter still locks up in 3 under normal driving conditions having it in 3 instead of D only keeps it from 4th gear. This is not 1985 buick where there is Drive and Overdrive.
I think it will stay out of 4th gear if you accelerate from 0. But if you don't want overdrive when your passing on the highway you can put it 3rd to save downshift time.
@BimmerM5e39 Putting it in 3rd doesn't prevent overdrive. 4th gear is not overdrive. Torque converter lock up is overdrive (which isn't a gear). It still locks up in 3rd gear as well. There is no timed saved whether you shift into 3rd then floor it or just floor it from D....the torque converter will still have to unlock.
..and this is why the 3.5 Impala isn't worth $25.000 more like $12.500 I too, was disapointed when i reached the vehicle top speed. Should have been at least 120mph for the base model :)
@yellowcow13 the 9th gen impala's never had the first 3.5 that was based on the 3400. That 3.5 ended production in 2005 and never made it to the new impala's. The 3.5 in this impala is based on the 3.9 both having variable cam timing where the first gen 3.5 does not.
no, actually, he was just going down hill. On a flat surface, he would have shifted at 55mph. I have one with a resonator delete and a flowmaster super 44 and it only shifts at 60 if ur going downhill...mine actually at 65mph, and shifts to 3rd at 105mph
