this is cool.. i did a mod like this on my pistol a while back, i had an old computer lying around and when i was done gutting it, i had a 3v battery, a switch and a yellow led.. i replaced the bar that the slide spring went down with a tube and ran the led through it. i put the switch behind the trigger and conveniently tucked all the wires behind the handle. Guns should come stock with this but it shows you have personality when you bring your modded guns on a field :D
this would be good for cqb if it had more leds becouse when you shoot it would sorda blind and disorantate the persan your shooting at making it harder for them to shoot back
i recommend putting a switch somewhere between the led and the motor just in case you don't want to be using it all the time. so you can just switch it off if you don't want to give away your position.
Another thing, You try getting a flash guard and dremel a bit of it out so you can get the flash from in the flash guard. That would look so awsome!!!
A cople bits of advice. Either find an orange/red led and use those. Or find some orange translucent plastic and put that over it. Also what you should do is wire the the connectors on the piston and through the trigger. So only when the piston is forward and your trigger is pulled it will light up. So it will be pulsing not just a constant light. Thats just my little bit of advice. =D Great Job though!!!
it looks cool. maybe he is using it for something else. you dont know. no one is making you put it on your gun. if u think the idea is stupid then why would u watch this in the first place. STFU
This is really cool, but here's an idea on how to make it better. Find out the rof of your gun on auto. Then get a 555 timer and configure it to pulse that fast. Then use a transistor to amplify the signal so that it can power the high power led. That way you could set the flash to be exactly say .25 seconds. You could also get a dual 555 timer chip and wire one chip for automatic mode in astable mode and another chip for monostable one shot mode for semi. Just an idea but it adds more options.
If you don't like to mess with electronics you probably didn't understand anything I said. Here it is in its "Simplest" form. The timer would pulse 1 time for every shot he fired, in this mod the light is always on as long as he pulls the trigger. As I said this allows the mod to be very configurable, you can change how long the light is on for each shot and much more.
i love to screw with electronics.... its just i never had any money to buy this type of stuff....so i just took apart a bunch of crap that we're going to throw out....so i guess that's why i didn't understand what your said......
This stuff is really not expensive, the 555 timer chip cost's $0.30 each then you need the other components to make it work which total about $1.00, the transistor is usually between $0.50 and $2.50 depending on what specifications are needed and you need a pre drilled circuit board to build it on which is about $3. Probably the most expensive part is the soldering iron but you can simply get a screw driver and heat it up with a lighter it works but its not the most precise.
thats a cool idea. and yeah it definitely would be better if it were yellow. but i would never do this to my gun unless ALL my friends did it. It would give me a big disadvantage at night.
There is a way. I think a lot of companies are making yellow colored hi power LEDs (ie. luxeon) I saw RGB LEDs too. So You could be able to change color to whatever you like.
I dunno, this is pretty cool for night ops

you might even be able to use this concept to make a tracer unit

Get a different colored LED, get like a yellow or orange LED. I've never seen my .45 make at blue light.

Me desculpe, mas não entendi a funcionalidade do esperimento...
Só sei que fica mais facil de saber aonde vc esta, oque pode não ser tao ruim se a finalidade for distração para o grupo.
Boa sorte.

In airsoft , the last thing you want to do is give away your position with sounds, lights or bright colors (clothes etc)

Try an orange led and make it flash more...

Looks cool from a first person perspective. If you use a yellowish or red led it would look better.

if you use a red LED it'll look a lot better

Thats really very cool and interesting! Finaly someone thinking outside the box and doing something different!
Very very very cool. I would have liked to see the LED as an orange or red though.
I'll be checking out the website.
