it's because she was synching so much for a while, it was assummed... she apparently took notice and stepped it up in 2008 and 2009, singing live can take a huge toll on a voice, I have more respect for Mariah now after 2008 and 2009 ... a trained ear can pick our a synched performance and in concert she really dissapointed me, but admittedly Mariah is letting it show and it's so so so so much better,

Music appreciation has now become more like a test to determine who lip-syncs and who doesn't.

Extol and appreciate the music, what's the purpose on doing all these weird tests on lip-sync? Who cares whether you are smart enough to tell that it's pre-recorded or lip-synced? It's still all her voice.

Just stating a fact. Not trying to prove a point. I'm a huge fan and I love her voice, but back in the day, she never lip-synched and every performance was perfect. She can do it now, but it's almost like she's too scared or something.

Sometimes I get so overwhelmed by the sudden changes Mariah did to her public persona from 1997 onwards until today .... Too much image and less musicality. Still I like some of her work post 1996. I just wished she had showed herself completely back then. It definitively made the public look at her in a weird and not understading way not knowing who she really is. From a apparent grown up woman with class and simplicity to a sexy lady ... who claims to be forever 12? However I got used to it!

ive heard she has used to get stage fright so at first she would never do live shows. even after she began to sing live on a regular basis she still seemed nervous, her face would never change and would stand stock still before and after the song sometimes. now theres none of that, she smiles as she sings and seems relaxed except she doesnt seem like herself anymore. i feel like all the bling, smiles, boobs lol and ego were just things she needed to develop in order to conquer her stage fright.

That Mariah is not the Mariah she herself wanted to showcase back then and even less now, The music she now delivers and the way she sings is the way she intends to express herself as a singer. She takes many risk singing fast phrases and recording her voice multiple times in harmonies into the songs making it weird live (to the point of not knowing if it's playback or live) ... But hey that's they way she wants to do it it's who she is ...

It is perfect because she's not singing live. Do a quick test. Whip out the cd that song was on. Try to sync the cd with the video. Don't be too surprised. haha. I guess I can understand why artists do it once in a while. I still have much respect for Mariah. But I must say, she was a lot better back in the 80's to early 90's.
