hey, im going to order the original s10 trucks but i was wondering whether or not to order the med. tension springs or to stick with the standards. I like having a tighter feel to my trucks but still have the freedom to make tight turns. When I used these trucks with the standards, it felt like if i turned a little bit i would completely wipe out. What Should I Get? Please respond!
Hello, when I ride my truck, wave camera is out of the metal cage as is right, the truck is not more secure. I wonder if this is normal? It is only when I press firmly over and wave chamber is inside the metal cage.
@originalhowto Has any consideration gone into building wave cams out of a different more durable material? What would happen with a metal cam? I would buy it.
Tedrix6- only order a higher tension springs if you like your trucks tighter than the way they are. You probably just tightened them too much. If the wave cams r broken, then buy new ones to replace. Wave cams r only 4 bucks
hey im having trouble taking the truck apart.... i used an alan wrench like you did but had to get another wrench to hold the nut on the other side bcuz it wudnt loosen up, and then when i took out the king pin and that thingy on the other side, (which was stuck) i cudnt take out the hanger piece bcuz its like jammed.... the wave cam is "sticking" to the hanger ... so now what do i do? i really need your help
Ive been riding my original old apex 37 with S8's and my trucks broke. like i did a bigspin and when i landed the metal peice literally just fell off. Like the whole metal peice just snapped off covering the wavecam. Should i be doing anything about this. Is it in warranty or??

i heard they slide very well but are very slow and over all crappy wheels. do you guys like them, are they good freeride wheels? because i have set i got for free laying around and am curious if they are any good, thanks
What if your trucks are loose like that and the cams aren't broken??? I just replaced my cams, maybe 3-4 days ago and they were great until now and the grease is all black and gone and my trucks were doing what was up there and i took them out and they are fine, then i relubed them and they do the same thing. help??
@originalhowto Hey, my trucks are really lose, the wave cams are not broken. when i tighten them down do a almost not lose state the wave cam goes inside the base plate. ive already gotten a new base plate twice, same problem bolth times. this is really frustrating and its affecting my skating greatly so if u know a fix plz tell me! thanks.
Hey my wave cam was broken so i replaced it and the day after i replaced the cam when i was not riding it the trucks became loose ably their selves i keep on tightening every day when i want to ride it because it is too lose how do i stop this problem???
@Landyachtzlongboard I think you are referring to the king pin becoming loose? If that is the case you can put two hex nuts on the end instead of one. This will lock the first nut down and stop the trucks from getting loose as you ride.
How come ur boards are all perfect and stuff and the trucks are perfectly clean and i get this black crappy gew that wont come off with the soap and solvents!!!!!??????
@Mateoapex34 Depends on how clean your roads are, where you ride, and how often you clean your board. If you ride in dirty, dusty conditions trucks will gum up faster, and require more frequent cleanings.
hey for some reason when i moving to my right when i'm cruising or anything really my back left wheel litterally comes off the ground and everything else is fine go to the left and all my wheels are still on the ground and smooth. I've tried tightening and lossening But I just can't figure it out. Am I leaning too far to the side or my trucks loose or something I really don't know what to do. Help please.
@shocker787 What deck do you have? Could be that the deck has warped- occasionally due to moisture and temperature a deck can warp. I recommend contacting our customer service and sending the deck back for inspection.
@optiwlk That's strange- usually if your getting rattling its because of a broken cam. Contact our customer support by phone or email and we'll try to help you out.
@sdeezy8 Its not good to ride with broken cams as it increases the chances of damaging the baseplate. Usually swapping out cams will solve rattling problems.
When your talking about tightening the kingpin and keeping the wave cam above the " base plate" are you talking about the metal base plate of the truck or the cylinder part where the wave cam sits inside of?
EASIEST WAY to clean your bearings is to use nail polish remover or a strong rubbing alcohol (90% is dandy) and chainsaw grease. pop the caps off your bearings and soak them in a cup of nail polish remover for an hour. then use a toothbrush to take out any excess crap. BE GENTLE so as to not push in the dirt further in. then use the grease on all the bearings and put the caps back on. go have a good session so you can get the grease distributed evenly.
hey original i have a question i have the derringer 28 and my wave cams arent broken but they still dont like pop to the middle they are kind of lose.... i have the red springs and i ride almost everyday and i regrease them with white lithium grease every 2 weeks..... trucks are as tight as u guys recommend..... they used to pop straight to the middle like in the vid but the past month they havent been..... please i want the original feel back to my original!!!!
is it ok if I clean my wavecams, washers, and kinpin with soup and water to take the black stuff off, and then re-grease the wavecams and washers?? or will the soup mess up the wave cams somehow??
@frank12364 Soap and water is fine... though I can't advise using soup, though I've never tried. Guess it depends on what type you were planning to use.... clam chowder, beef barley, or chicken noodle?
I skate pretty hard on my s8's and my wave cams last around 8-10 months usually. If yours don't last more than a month then upgrade to heavier springs and don't tighten them up so much. I clean up my bushings every month and it makes my trucks feel so uber premium. You can buy white lithium grease at most hardware stores for very cheap, the kind I buy costs $5 for a tube that lasts a year at least. Although you can use the spray kind it is very messy and harder to apply.
Just bought some S10's this week. They're my first Original longboard trucks and... WAW.
I just wondered for someone who skates every dry day the UK has to offer, but doesn't do tricks or anything aggresive like that, just rides and carves, how often should I grease and clean my trucks/ wavecams?
@GuitarSummerS If you ride pretty hard its advisable to clean once a month, or even more if you ride dirty pavement. I always recommend cleaning after riding in the rain.
Hi...I just purchased wave cams and noticed they were super greasy and kind of dirty do i wash them to get the dirt off? Or leave it so the grease stays on the cams?
@AndreaJMo If dirt somehow got on the cams it would be a good idea to wipe it away- but you would then need to re-grease the cams before you install them.
are you guys working on making stronger wavecams? I feel they consistently break after a few months of aggressive riding even if you aren't overtightening your king pin
i think u answered my call today, i couldnt fit my lock nut into my wavecame, i put it in outside of the truck but then i couldnt put it back in with the cams inside the truck
the Trucks are really cool ! i personally think you should have the standard tension spring be higher then the black spring just because black seems too low for many people
@DannyTh3Man i dont think you busted it thou i tryed putting on crappy grease on mine and it did the same thing just clean em off and put some good grease on them
My cams aren't broken, but the slot where the stopper slides in te baseplate, is a bit chipped of...so I think I should get new baseplates...is there a way i could get them on waranty?...and I don't have white lithium grease, but I do have some multi purpose grease...is that good enough?
hey original, my wave cams are pretty dirty, so i was wondering if its ok to dip them in water, clean them, then re-applie white lithium grease on it at the end??
@superomid121 Chances are the water will enter the truck and wash away the lithium grease. You can ride in wet conditions but I would highly recommend cleaning and re-greasing after you do.
So i did everything in this video like you said, and i even did it again watching the brian bishop video, but my cams squeak even more violently now. im so worried
@BabyTumbler Im assuming your talking about the bearings in the wheels- they do not get greased- they need a lightweight bearing lubricant. The wave cams and washers in the trucks get grease.l
hey OS what happens if my trucks are still wobbling even if i put new wave cams in? to me the problem seems to be the stopper that connects to the wave cam bends the baseplate of the truck
i finally found a perfect tube of white lithium gease. no one use Vaseline. the petroleum jelly in it will corrode plastic and disintegrate your wavecams
@ivanyordanov Like ivan is saying the vaseline is not the best for your cams. In a pinch it will work but you NEED to get white lithium on the cams and should not leave the vaseline on the cams for extended periods of time.
bought custom 35 as my first board, and the Original sales guy said itll be fine bombing hills, but its not i got torn up bad so i tightened the cams and then they broke, and it was a bad day. i wish i would have been told to carve out hills with these trucks and not try to bomb, everyone i know who has tried has crashed bombing on these trucks. but the carving is still the raddest there is on the market.
Ok, so I got my Malakai 40 like sometime in February, and now I realized that my trucks have always been like that (with the broken wave cam thing). I looked like you said, but I don't see any cracks. I am probably going to get the apex 37 in July or something, so I don't know if I should buy some new wave cams or not.
@cinderpelt723 Since cams are only $4 a set its not a bad idea to include some with your next purchase. Having the parts on hand sure beats not being able to ride for a few days.
@DonR94 Depends on the wheel hub placement- If they have a center set hub like retros or 3dms 62mm is about as big as you can go. With Krypto's that have side set hubs you can fit up to a 70mm wheel.
@SnakeKong The "hub" is the portion of the wheel that holds the bearings. It can be "side set" or all the way to the inside surface of the wheel, "center set" in the middle of the wheel or "off set" somewhere in between the other two.
ok thank you i have 3dm 84a 62mm wheels right now but when i get the money i am thinking of upgrading to s8 trucks but dont know which wheel to use because i want to start sliding.
1) I'm looking to buy my first longboard and I am deciding between the Apex 34 and the Terrapin 34. Being somewhat of a beginner, (I'm okay on a normal board) would you say one of them would be easier to learn than the other? I'm going to be riding mainly flatland with occasional downhill.
2) How often do people break their Wave Cams? Should I buy some along with the new board?
hey original my cam isnt broken but my truck squeaky when its loose and tight i have no idea how to fix this

Does White Lithium Grease spray work?
or do you need to grease in a tube?
MrFloKilla 1 year ago
@MrFloKilla Need to use the white lithium in a tube- the spray does not work.
originalhowto 1 year ago
My cams aren't broken, but the slot where the stopper slides in te baseplate, is a bit chipped of...so I think I should get new baseplates...is there a way i could get them on waranty?...and I don't have white lithium grease, but I do have some multi purpose grease...is that good enough?

coudlnt find any white lithium grease only yellow lithium grease in huge tubes. does that work to? how about vaseline is that ok?
eemiilll 1 year ago
hey original, my wave cams are pretty dirty, so i was wondering if its ok to dip them in water, clean them, then re-applie white lithium grease on it at the end??
waTskiLLz 1 year ago
@waTskiLLz Sure- water and even a mild detergent like dish soap is fine. Make sure you reapply white lithium after your cams are cleaned.
originalhowto 1 year ago
what happens if you ride your original trucks on a wet day? i.e. rain and small puddles
superomid121 1 year ago
@superomid121 Chances are the water will enter the truck and wash away the lithium grease. You can ride in wet conditions but I would highly recommend cleaning and re-greasing after you do.

So i did everything in this video like you said, and i even did it again watching the brian bishop video, but my cams squeak even more violently now. im so worried

@alecjparrish25 Send an email to our customer support address- we'll figure out whats going on with your trucks.

@originalhowto mabey u should replace the wave cams
kearlybirdy 1 year ago
so, the only thing that should be greased is the wavecam and the bearings and nothing else?
BabyTumbler 1 year ago
@BabyTumbler Im assuming your talking about the bearings in the wheels- they do not get greased- they need a lightweight bearing lubricant. The wave cams and washers in the trucks get grease.l
originalhowto 1 year ago
hey OS what happens if my trucks are still wobbling even if i put new wave cams in? to me the problem seems to be the stopper that connects to the wave cam bends the baseplate of the truck
jaskate51 1 year ago
@jaskate51 If they are still wobbling contact our customer support email- we'll help sort out the problem.

monkoy11 1 year ago

When I buy a longboard does it come with the tool that takes out the truck?
ProfessorLongbottom 2 years ago
Yes- but its just a hex key- you can find them at any hardware store.

i finally found a perfect tube of white lithium gease. no one use Vaseline. the petroleum jelly in it will corrode plastic and disintegrate your wavecams
ivanyordanov 2 years ago
@ivanyordanov Like ivan is saying the vaseline is not the best for your cams. In a pinch it will work but you NEED to get white lithium on the cams and should not leave the vaseline on the cams for extended periods of time.

what kind of trucks are those
benneb95 2 years ago
@benneb95 Original S6 150mm trucks from Original skateboards.

hey i coudlnt find any white lithium grease only yellow lithium grease in huge tubes. does that work to? how about vaseline is that ok?
ivanyordanov 2 years ago
@ivanyordanov Vaseline or yellow will work- but expect to grease more frequently. Keep looking for white lithium as it works best.

what parts of the trucks am i exactly supposed to greece with the white lithium greece? I know the wave cams but is there anything else?
nicknac35 2 years ago
@nicknac35 Wave cams, base plate tube, and the two large washers.
originalhowto 2 years ago
bought custom 35 as my first board, and the Original sales guy said itll be fine bombing hills, but its not i got torn up bad so i tightened the cams and then they broke, and it was a bad day. i wish i would have been told to carve out hills with these trucks and not try to bomb, everyone i know who has tried has crashed bombing on these trucks. but the carving is still the raddest there is on the market.
samccall1 2 years ago
Ok, so I got my Malakai 40 like sometime in February, and now I realized that my trucks have always been like that (with the broken wave cam thing). I looked like you said, but I don't see any cracks. I am probably going to get the apex 37 in July or something, so I don't know if I should buy some new wave cams or not.
:(
Thanks
cinderpelt723 2 years ago
@cinderpelt723 Since cams are only $4 a set its not a bad idea to include some with your next purchase. Having the parts on hand sure beats not being able to ride for a few days.

originalhowto 2 years ago
Hey Original
What are the largest size wheels i can put on a Apex 34 with S6's?
Thanks
DonR94 2 years ago
@DonR94 Depends on the wheel hub placement- If they have a center set hub like retros or 3dms 62mm is about as big as you can go. With Krypto's that have side set hubs you can fit up to a 70mm wheel.
originalhowto 2 years ago
@originalhowto what is a "hub" ?
SnakeKong 2 years ago
@SnakeKong The "hub" is the portion of the wheel that holds the bearings. It can be "side set" or all the way to the inside surface of the wheel, "center set" in the middle of the wheel or "off set" somewhere in between the other two.
originalhowto 2 years ago
@originalhowto what about offset wheels because i have 66mm lemon zigzags
TheSimsEra 2 years ago
@TheSimsEra 66mm Lemon Zigs will not work with S6 trucks on the Apex 34.
originalhowto 2 years ago
ok thank you i have 3dm 84a 62mm wheels right now but when i get the money i am thinking of upgrading to s8 trucks but dont know which wheel to use because i want to start sliding.
TheSimsEra 2 years ago
Hey Original,
2 part question here,
1) I'm looking to buy my first longboard and I am deciding between the Apex 34 and the Terrapin 34. Being somewhat of a beginner, (I'm okay on a normal board) would you say one of them would be easier to learn than the other? I'm going to be riding mainly flatland with occasional downhill.
2) How often do people break their Wave Cams? Should I buy some along with the new board?
Thanks!
