  • Don't wander around, don't disturb, don't leer, don't stare at the mirrors ... so what on earth I'm supposed to do in those 2-3 minutes between sets? Big mirrors and fit tushes are the very reason why I found myself in that gym in the first place.

  • I totally disagree with most of your video..for example, grunting releases more energy during a rep and should be encouraged..not like a dying water buffalo of course but just enough to finish a set..even arnold said grunt if you have to..nice vid though

  • @kawasakininja13 I agree and believe that I did state that in the video, that releasing some noise is acceptable. Sounding like a tortured water buffalo, not acceptable lol!

  • What would you say are the top 10 things (or More) to bring to the Gym. Would love to know as I am going to start going to the gym for the first time in about 2 weeks for Weight Loss. Are there any tips you recommend for a beginner such as not eating an hour or so prior to going to the gym, after gym should we drink a energy booster, etc......

  • @TheBongo87 Different gyms for different people and goals. The majority of the viewers of my show do not lift at gyms that someone like you does, or even someone like me. This is a "what NOT to do" for those guys and gals who don't know the rules or social parameters of the average gym. Keep training hard and thanks for watching!

  • (1) Don't become someone's personal trainer as they are working out. That is, don't go around trying to alter member's routines. Solid advice is one thing, but being a show-off is another.

  • @huskyjerk LMAO!!! Good one! Yeah, it's funny when you see that. When I worked at a gym, our boss made us trainers walk the floor and "correct" people and I HATED it because people don't care what you have to say. Unsolicited advice, no matter how right, is never appreciated.

    12. the guy who takes like 5 sets of dumbells off the rack and then keeps them there to use once but insists they are using them

  • You pretty much nailed most of my pet peeves about people at the gym. One thing to add- not just people who stand between you and the mirror, but people who walk past if even just for a second to grab some weights- it's not hard to wait til I finish my set.

    Even if someone moves past my peripheral vision while i'm doing bench press it's a distraction.

    Basically just avoid people who in the middle of their sets when moving around!!!

  • I don't go to the gym but I use a treadmil at home...it is soooo boring. I can jog for 30 mins but the sheer boredom has me doing no more than 20. I've tried listening to my ipod - doesn't work, tried watching something on my laptop but I can't hear over the noise, I just end up planing my day or imagining random scenarios...does anyone have any ideas?

  • @younanproductions A combo of better nutrition and increased cardio helps. Keep up the weights, too. Be consistent and stay motivated and over time you will get ot your goal : )

    Now, I don't appreciate the ones who are obviously playing it up and shouting loudly; but is a little grunting such a bad thing?

    

  • @RonQE Grunting can help release energy to get a better pump on the contraction motion of the movement. It's the over-the-top, obnoxious screaming and moaning that is not-so-called for, lol!

  • @MadeFitTV I completely agree with this statement! I just wanted to make the point about the difference between a reasonable, private grunt and the kind of grunt which makes you drop your water bottle when you hear it! The differentiation wasn't quite clear int his video.

  • Rule number 5 is what most people, especially teens and other young people, violate! Sometimes they don't put the plates back where they came from, sometimes they don't put back the dumbbells in their places. At least I put them back everytime someone violates the rule. BTW, you're looking pretty fit, so it looks like you know what's up.

I'm just the fat musician around the house, so I joined the gym today and I'm going to show them that I care about my health. Thank you for making this video. =]

  • Agreed. Sometimes you gotta make some noise to get that extra umph. I just hate the "I'm being loud so people will notice me" grunts. Those drive me nuts.

  • I very much agree with 9 out of 10 of these. The one I greatly disagree with is grunting. Grunting is what happens when you are pushing yourself. And for most people like me looking to put on mass, grunting kinda plays a role and when I grunt it lets me know how hard I am working. Especially on leg days, if you aint grunting during squats or leg press your not working very hard at all

  • If you must behave like this, find a different gym. I train strongman and I KNOW a family gym like Club Fitness or Gold's would frown upon me getting hit in the back and yelling during deadlifts or push presses. So, I found a gym that is more geared towards that kind of lifting.

  • Hey, thanks : ) I've been lifting for about 8 years and I do have broad shoulders naturally, thanks to my parents. Just keep training hard and often and eat right, and your muscles will show through.  I love training shoulders!

  • I've never really done a daily workout video diary, but I may be doing some in the future. The important thing to know is that not everyone trains the same to get the specific results and goals they want. All of our bodies are different and respond better to different things. I did do one video a few weeks before my last show that is on here - I'll post the link for you!

  • Can't say I can argue with much of what you said; accept I find women are the worst offenders of the cologne rule. If you dont want to get looked at, make sure the shorts come down past your butt and my gym has wall to wall mirrors just for me to look at myself, well maybe not. If you cant put it down, dont pick it up, if your too lazy to put it away, leave it alone, and never get to close to the man with the Tom Selleck mustache.

  • In my gym grunting is forbidden. It is rule number 9 on the wall actually. Moaning and groaning or whining IS allowed.

  • Not a fan of hoggers! Unless it's not a very busy time. Usually you can tell if someone wants to use a piece of equipment because they hang around you and give you looks. So, just be courteous and be strict in sticking to your one minute rests in between sets. Thanks! XO

  • I thought a super set was working out a certain muscle group and then hitting the opposing muscle group directly after that.

    example: bicep curls/tricep pushdown.

    If I am mistaken please correct me! You are really good at what you do, keep up the good work =)

  • Good question...

    A superset can be that of which you described (working opposite muscle groups) or you can superset with the same muscle for added fatigue to improve size and endurance. These methods may garner different results depending on one's body type. A mesomorph will increase size and shape, where an endomorph may increase endurance and strength.

  • You'd be amazed, my friend... you'd be amazed by how many people just don't know what's appropriate and what's not.

    Checking form in the mirror, which I mention, makes total sense because you want to see your hard work pay off. There's a difference between that and hogging the mirrors for a posing session. Joke or not, you watched my video and commented - and that's what I love, so thank you so much and keep working hard ; )

  • Everything on that list is TOTAL COMMON SENSE STUFF... and the no grunting and no looking at yourself in the mirror rules are completely ABSURD. The reason you go to the gym is to be vain and look at yourself, andyone who says otherwise is lying to themselves. This video is a joke.
