I don't know for a fact, but I've heard that the doll is one of the factors for which ending you get. It also is the reason why you are not regenerating health in your apartment anymore. Again, don't know if it is the truth, but it is what I have heard.

@Mistermixmaster actually, according to the wiki, the shabby doll serves no purpose other then to cause a specific haunting.

" It is advised not to take the doll, as it serves no purpose other than to cause a particular Haunting to occur. Should Henry accept the doll and put it into his inventory, a haunting will eventually manifest above the box and prevent Henry from using it without being hurt.
