Is it one of the most depressing and painfully irreversible endings of television history? I guess so. Snow, sad guitar theme, black daisies. Gaia will grind mankind. Everyone will perish, symbolically due to the greedy corporate intentions which mirror the 80s crisis-feeling in that time's films (The Day After), graphic novels (Alan Moore ouvre).
As would the words 'Stop being such a spoiled cry-baby" in response to your post. It's 25 years old and the ending has kinda creeped out, despite everything we could do.
I was told by Emma's grandma that Emma and Laura would be lawyers.Their grandma was a thug, a dillusionary thug at that .I bet they bred bank robbers or drug dealers like their aunty Cathy or molls. Saw Cathy once watching me from her car. Another stretford deadleg.
I watched this fantastic series in the early 80s. It was thought provoking then and remains relevant today - nearly 30 years later. Bob Peck was perfectly cast and the theme was just beautifully haunting. Excellent!
It kinda reminds me of the innocent personality that I had, and always make me think how far I'm away from that point. Am I really far, Am I still close? I have no idea. but I'm sure I'm not that innocent that I used to be,
This is a personal thing for me. I had to walk away from an Emma many years ago and her family because of conflicts of interest. She was not my blood but I cared. And the confusion that followed was down to stupidity.I think I have now learned the meaning of don't get involved.Bob Peck was brilliant in this and it is as meaningfull now as it was then.

It was an excellently acted, and a compelling drama. As such I enjoyed it thoroughly.
But, let's not forget the premise was politically motivated leftist rubbish.

Unfortunately Hollywood & Mel Gibson have got hold of the story for a 'blockbuster' remake. For my money it will not hold a candle to this original.

It's being directed by Martin Campbell, the same guy who directed the series...

Black flowers... Gaia is going to destroy humanity by absorbing all the sunlight and raising the waters. Great ending.

I watched it when I was a kid. It made me be more cautious about peoples life and take more care of nature. This is an all time number one for me.

The music is briliant. It brings some sense of fear about modern technology, which is the main point of this shocking series.
