  • Why does it sound like all of the horns are alternating making a sound?

  • this just in: Justin bieber is on stage for his new concert, SOUND THE ALARMS, HURRY WE ALREADY GOT SOME PEOPLE DEAD!!!!!!!!!!!

  • Russians incoming.

  • This is my favorite siren.

  • p.s. what kind of siren is this?!

  • @Ladiesman2175995... the siren goes off to warn the public of a tornado, so if you were sleeping or didn't have your TV or radio on, you know there's a tornado, so you take cover.

  • ahhh finally it's over .. - tornado siren comes back on - GOD DAMN IT

  • How often do the eastern counties of Montana test their sirens? In Cascade and Lewis and Clark counties, we don't have dependable warning systems for tornadoes, simply because we rarely, if ever, have tornadoes. When I moved to Missouri for school, I learned that they test the storm sirens every month.

  • Its the old roblox siren!

  • Doesn't sound like this siren is going off. Sounds like an STH-10 somewhere else. But VERY close!

  • Does anybody know what type of siren is in Champaign, Illinois?

  • FAKE

  • @123torrent LOL, how so?

  • We are not use to this up north. it for dam sure would scare me

  • @xBloodXGusherx lol i don't have these where i live...

  • love the ambience

  • in oklahoma when the sirens go off they dont do the wind-up wind-down thing they just blare at top volume for ten minutes.

  • Thats new, going from attack to alert and back to attack with no windown. Huh, odd.

  • what kind of siren

  • thats a war siren

  • @SkyThunder1 Used to be a cold war siren but now it is a weather siren.

  • @Tabby266 just like denver! lol all the sirens in denver were used for the cold war but now for severe weather

  • this is the best siren sound out ther it seems to be loudr

  • Great siren. One of the best I've heard in a long while.

  • And this is when i would start shitting myself

  • I think their testing this alarm as the sound isn't that loud

  • Comment removed

  • OMFG if my fire station got a big enough alarm for our siren to ring that many times I would just go the hell home...(JK)!

I think after our 20th ring that would indicate that the entire state was on fire...SHEESH!

  • wow...im in Alabama...instead of CALI-F where im suPOSSED to BEE!! • Never Seen that Siren Before...what Brand makes it ?

  • @form109 I have no clue what the make is. Ill try to get access to it this summer

  • @bigskyskywarn are u sure this is a siren and not a horn system? A town near me has something just like this except it has two horns not 3 hand the are horns that would sound like a ship but thev'e been broken for MANY years.

  • @bigskyskywarn why does the siren go off when theres a tornado

  • @Ladiesman2175995 .. Are.. you a dumbass?

  • @Ladiesman2175995 When their is a tornado, it is used to aid in the notice of a tornado. It is used to let people know to take shelter, tornado has touched down. Seek immediate refuge!!

  • @Ladiesman2175995 Oh... Hm.. I don't know... TO WARN PEOPLE THAT THEY MIGHT DIE IF THEY DON'T GET THEIR BUTTS TO SAFETY BECAUSE THEY SIGHTED A TORNADO!!!

  • @Ladiesman2175995 to warn people to get to shelter. it saves lives. in my town the sirens didnt go off and there was a tornado but no one was killed thank, God. but it saves lives so people know to take shelter

  • @Ladiesman2175995 to warn u

  • This drives my dog crazy! he starts howling! ha ha

  • @syd555777 cause his ears

  • that doesnt sound that loud...was it loud?

  • Are those air raid sirens?

  • is this real, and not a drill?

  • @brovobasher its a spring test. (:

  • @bigskyskywarn Will i run into copyright for using this sound in a video called san andreas tornado movie? because people say the siren i used ment air raid.

  • @brovobasher you have a point it Just keaps going.

  • the sound has always scared the crap out of me. its great :)

  • What type of siren is in the background?

  • I heard when I was a youngster a similar siren on the tall hosetower that summoned the local firefighters. It had 12 horns.

  • The sound that death is comming!!

  • oh srry im living in NORWAY it often cold here and i forget that this is in america.

  • think to wake upp with that sound and you see your roof been ripping off and it being cold

  • Why would you be cold?

  • @bigskyskywarn because the temperature changes when a tornado forms, one almost formed almost right on top of my house yesterday

  • Typically World War 2 sound.. Kind of scary!

  • @MatteeeZ thts wat i was thinkin too

  • that would sound scary at mid-night at Halloween

  • You are hearing 2 and of 3 Federal Signal STH-10 Tornado Sirens that serve the Miles City Area. The mystery siren shown is dormant.

  • Ohhh, so scary...

    SO old...

    scary..... 5*

  • Odd looking....

  • Its an STH-10.

  • Yeah its an STH-10, but I don't get why someone made a thumbs down, none of us knew what an STH-10 was at birth.

  • Or in a busy shopping mall!!!

  • lol! XD

  • @tornadochaserX That siren is a good prank at 2012,play it and people will go crazy.

  • Great idea!

  • @04smallmj you can go to vidtomp3 (google it) then save the audio file, then go to phonezoo and generate a ringtone

I do it for my favorite industrial songs, and will be adding an air raid siren as one soon.

  • My god, this could easily be used in an apocalypse movie.

  • Awesome, your camera really captures the sound:)

  • What is the point? We have a siren test every Saturday at 12:00 pm in Oklahoma.

  • That is very scary. If i would be there at Miles City, Montana and that same alarm would go off i would rush to the car and go all the way to Kentucky where i live right now.

  • do you get Tornadoes at this part of Montana

  • Yes, we just arent famous for them because it's so rural many slip by and people don't report them.

  • that sounds scary. especially when its dark/grey out and you hear that noise.

  • There is no way that they can be "old ATIs".

  • is that siren very old?

  • what is that siren called?

  • whenever I said thats a dumb question,

you don't know who I am talking to do you?

  • the siren kind of sounds like a sterling little giant.

  • Is it tested Manually?

  • holy crap muffins this is the sound i used for my tornado siren on roblox!!!!!

  • Yeah i love roblox!!! I am making a place that's filled with sirens my persons name is korgsynthesizers

  • F14Tomcat

  • we have this kinda horn in iowa in some locations!

  • this siren audio is used on ROBLOX

  • Its so annoying thats why im making new ones

  • good for putting to club songs

  • Ok I am really confused. Let me get this straght. That siren I am looking at in the video is NOT running am I correct???

  • @Siren1000T1 yes, I know what those sound like, will try to figure out the model. I do not know why it was put on the vid, but the sounds are likely from STH-10. I moved here from Germany, and the first day living here, I heard the one pictured in our town (we have a shit-ton of Cold War era sirens, this one and a Thunderbolt to the back of my place, and an STH-10 and Model5 a little north of my place) Also living in Switzerland for a while (they have CD program), I thought HFS! Air raid!!!

  • I like this song :)

  • sounds like an air raid siren.

  • the ones in minnesota have a solid sound and rotate. unlike these ones that fade from high

    to low pitch

  • The ones in Minnesota must be tsunami siren calls (not always used for tsunamis). This is the sound that is officially called a tsunami warning. The sound this siren makes is a fire warning.

  • Do they have many tsunamis in Minnesota? There are a lot of lakes there :)

  • I'm not saying that Minnesota has tsunamis. This is the impression a Seaside, OR page gave me on their sirens: the siren wail that slides from a low pitch to a high pitch and holds that high note, then slides back down again is (I think) officially a tsunami siren wail, while a fire siren slides back and forth three or four times before sliding back to its original pitch. There isn't a separate call for tornados or floods.

  • On the Pacific coast, most sirens sound a tsunami warning of a prolonged, steady tone. In the Midwest, most (but not all) communities use this for a tornado warning. This comes from the days when a rising-falling siren (attack) was reserved for civil defence use. As in many parts of Europe, the fire signal was traditionally three or four long, slow blasts, but today it can be anything.

  • I see. Thanks! Are you saying that the Midwest uses the wail in this video (rising-falling), or that the Midwest uses the prolonged tone.

Do you know what model the siren in this video is?

  • The siren you're hearing is an STH-10 that is not visible in the video.

In the 1950's, sirens had three signals: "fire," which was usually three long blasts to call volunteers, "alert," which was a 3-5 minute steady blast to warn of an impending attack, and "attack," a 3-5 minute rising-falling signal that an attack (i.e. nuclear missile) was happening. Most Midwestern communities use a steady "alert" tone for tornado warning, as do Pacific coastal communities for a tsunami warning.

  • quick get in the basement kids.

  • that is one earitaiting comment!!!!

  • ************

  • That siren actually looks like an older version of an ATI, honestly. Great video as well!!

  • to loud to be an ATI. you can hear it. lol. looks like a custom made siren

  • Read the video description.

  • Is this one of a kind?

  • Comment removed

  • What, was this taken at a prison?

  • The city Jail sits just below this building, which is the courthouse. The Pine Hills Youth Correctional Facility ( about 2 mi. away) used to have a siren for escapes or levels but have switched to a paging system.

  • what is this siren?

It's loud ,I know the siren you see in the video are not the sirens you here. What type of siren is the one that you just see?

  • the one your hearing is an sth10

  • incoming bombers!

  • SOUNDS LIKE A STH 10 IN ATACK

  • You are absolutley correct. The siren you are seeing is currently retired. You are hearing an STH-10 from about a block away. It is resounding off of the court house building. They hope to relocate and reactivate this siren in Southgate Meadows, our suburb to the south.

  • what kind of siren is that?

  • STH10.

  • you are correct. The siren you SEE is not even running.
