Just for the record, she is a lesbian, and she has confirmed this in interviews and I don't see why that upsets any of you. This song in particular was written for her brother because of the reasons mentioned above, but there's certainly no need for you all to attack someone who finds comfort in the fact that she's a famous gay singer. Yes, her music is great regardless, but its awesome that she can inspire and give hope to LGBTQ youth. Just chill out. Seriously.

Well, Wikpedia should not be considered a reliable source, but that is where I discovered it. The songs where she's singing about a particular person is usually a female name. That doesn't prove anything, but it's interesting. She's cool either way.

miggitdog, Your are correct. Brandi wrote this about her younger brother(only 1 year younger) who's a Southern Baptist youth minister. Brandi also used to be a Southern Baptist, but no more; Brandi's now an agnostic, lesbian, Rock&Roller. She made peace with her brother a few years ago.
