  • The artist!

  • How can anyone press dislike!?

Liz and Clift have an incredible chemistry.

A great plot, with great acting of all the cast, the directing, the music...

    This film is perfect.

Yesterday was Liz 80th Birthday. Your soul is eternal.

  • happy birthday elizabeth taylor R.I.P a great actress and a humanitarian

  • This is in my humble opinion the best screen kiss....ever! Elizabeth has the estrogen flowing very near the surface and is simmering with sensuality. They both make a beautiful couple. I want to be Monty in this great scene as I am sure many other men did as well. I suspect women felt they would wish to be Elizabeth. They don't make 'em like this anymore; not even close.

  • The most beautiful woman EVER

  • Happy Birthday Montgomery Cliff. Your chemistry was so great on this scene. You can tell Elizabeth was really in love with him.I love your cute little bushy eye browse. My birthday is on Elizabeth's talyor's birthday. He died around the corner from Elizabeth's house in a car crash. He was great in the Numburge Trail. He was so emtional.

  • @josette4231 The part for "Roxy" in "One Life to Live" is already taken. If Ilene Kristen suddenly becomes unavailable, we'll give you a call.

  • @josette4231 He died in his bed many years after that crash.

  • Undoubtedly one of the most romantic scenes in film history <3

  • i read that montgomery whas gay.

  • that all said ... some critics complain that there is an irritating Woody-Wood-Pecker aspect to Elizabeth Taylor's face: hm.

  • @CarCriticAssessor - And what critic said that? Mel Blanc or Hanna-Barbara perhaps.

Think YOU'VE been watching too many cartoons!

  • Tell mama, tell mama all.........this just exudes romance and raw sexuality

  • @gboroguy Yes

  • biutiful woman

  • the best film of a beautiful couple

  • George Stevens made the most memorable three minutes of lovemaking when he directed this scene. Non-stop close-ups of two beautiful people creating a relationship along with supportive background music. If only the movie could have ended with this clip.

  • too bad we cant see her beautiful eyes :(

  • does anyone no where I can find this music?

  • The camera loved her--she was a natural. Never took an acting lesson--didn't need to.

  • A legendary 3-minutes of Hollywood cinema. Immortality is achieved by Monty & Liz in this moment in time.....

  • AWWWWWWWWWWWW I DIE

  • What a beauty!

  • the most handsome guy and most beautiful women in hollywood ever..!

  • Liz is beautiful <3 i love her R.I.P Hollywood's finest/ queen Dame Eliazbeth Taylor <3

  • Yeah because he was hittin' it up with men...just like Dean and Hudson. Hudson was gay...Clift and Dean or bi or maybe more. Liz was the ultimate fag hag.

  • God is now in good company

  • So intense and romantic... Beautiful.

  • Monty was born in 1920, so he was 30 and she was 17 when this movie was made. They look so good together, just beautiful.

  • Monty and Liz are the most beautiful on screen romance ever! They are so perfect.

  • i love the look of surprise in his eyes when she says "tell mama", cause it wasn't in the script. it was an ad-lib that taylor thought of and asked stevens if she could try it...

    pure genius...

  • this is so romantic

  • OMG,such intensity, beauty, love, affection romance... Gawd we really don't get to see such stuff any more on screen...The Golden age is over indeed. Both look so gorgeous together. Their beautiful friendship is flourishing in heaven again. God bless Monty and his Bessie Mae.

  • Liz Taylor must have been REALLY young if this film was released in 1951...

  • @shmuli9 Elizabeth was born in 1932, so she'd have been at least 19, maybe almost 20, when this flic was released. She had already been a star since childhood.

  • @WildeNotesMusic I knew she was a child star (I saw "National Velvet" a long time ago), but I didn't know she was born in 1932 - I thought it was 1934 - but yes, she was born in 1932... Montgomery Clift (who was quite attractive, IMHO), then, must have been 12 years her senior... (I thought 14, but I was wrong.)

  • @shmuli9 she wa 17 he was 38

  • @shmuli9 she was 17 he was 38 when they actually filmed this and 19 when released

  • @cutiefbaby

Monty Clift was born in 1920 which would have made him 29 when this movie was shot. Ask his mother, Sunny and his brother Brooks and his twin sister, Sister

  • @gray70 ok w/e point is there's a big age gap

  • I saw this on TV as a teenager and was mesmerized by her; here she was perfection. Years later I saw this on the big screen and it was overpowering. Only one other film matches the heights of this passion, Hitch's "Vertigo."

As for scenes, this is unsurpassed. Scorsese's "Raging Bull" and Bunuel's "That Obscure Object of Desire" match APITS's artistry, but for the passion of Love with a capital "L" this is the real deal. It makes "From Here to Eternity"'s beach scene look like cartoons.

  • "Gasp! Are they watching us?!"

I've always loved this movie, it's so romantic. I've always loved Elizabeth Taylor and Montgomery Clift. Liz was SO beautiful and Monty was SO handsome. They are together again. R.I.P. Elizabeth

  • Watching her face reappear just past Monty's shoulder, is like watcing the sun rise. It's just breath-taking.

  • That's my all time favorite featuring E.Taylor and... who could ever forget Monty Clift 's part in that film?Outstanding duet from The Golden Age of Cinema....

  • @mokacode Mine too @mokacode! I loved Monty Clift also. I saw this as a child and I cried at George's walk at the end of the movie. They just don't make them like this anymore. :(

  • @silkq I shouldn't say that ...but...I was looking forward to Monty 's getting rid of whining Shelley as soon as possible....

  • @mokacode Shame on you!........you said out loud what I was thinking!LOL! Am I wrong because I agree?!

  • @silkq I suppose that was the director's intention to lead us to think that way .isn't director derived from direction?LOL....And I put the blame on the prosecutor (aka R.Burr) for spying out the truth on this whole affair...Relol...Despite his love for Liz ,Monty(in the film) was kind of a wannabe whose aspirations were also becoming a member of the jet set....

  • RIP Dame Elizabeth.

  • i go crazy when i hear this soundtrack i feel like im in love . and now i realize im in love with you liz.

    ill love u forever

  • Tell Mama Tell Mama

  • Everyone has a F**hag, and well, how lucky for Monty to have Liz.... Priceless....

  • RIP, Beautiful Liz

  • So sad to hear the beautiful Elizabeth Taylor has died. My deepest sympathy to her family and friends. She will be missed by all.

  • Ave Atque Vale

  • Elizabeth Taylor's greatest cinematic moment.

  • RIP

  • Wonderful, beautiful human being Elizabeth Taylor. You were never lovlier, more beautiful or ethereal than in this memorable movie. RIP.

  • Magnificent scene of an unforgettable movie and one of the best performances of the beautiful gorgeous Elizabeth Taylor, a true star and an amazing human being that lived her life in her own terms. God rest her soul. She will live in the memory and the hearts of her millions of fans who followed her exciting life! I was privileged to have met her and she was not only gorgeous; but gracious.

  • Don't worry Monty, Liz is with you now. May you both rest and have eternal peace.

  • RIP Liz and RIP Monty

  • Rest in Peace dear Elizabeth. The world has lost one of its most illuminating stars.

Your life was always an inspiration to me in so many ways.

This scene from A Place in the Sun is one of the most dramatic and perfectly filmed scenes in movie history.

  • What an amazing and wonderful actress Elizabeth was....Rest in Peace....

  • Jesus, it's just so powerful on every level. And an endless salute to the masters of black and white cinematography... Some of these images are more beautiful than any of the computerized shit we're soaked with today.

  • These cats really cared about one another in real life .... Elizabeth Taylor, RIP :-(

  • They're finally together again r.i.p.

  • Death is really not the end of life, but rather the beginning of the rebirthed life.

Rejoice to see it, and bless the traveler on his new journey. Release the departing traveller and give him as a Godspeed a flower lei of happy memories and a benediction as he migrates to the promise land, the far counrry-New Jerusalem.

  • RIP elizabeth taylor i was so sas when i found out that she died today she was an amazing talent so beautiful and i hope she gets to see monty up there in heaven because those two are so beautiful together

  • I just cried a river when I heard the news of Elizabeth's death...Rest in peace! I really hope that she'll met Monty again somewhere up there...

  • RIP Liz Taylor.......today is a sad day for hollywood.

The acting world has lost one of the classiest ladies EVER!!

  • Elizabeth Taylor NEVER LOOKED more beautiful. Simply gorgeous.

  • Monty and Liz--will the screen ever see such beautiful people again? LOVE THEM BOTH

  • The music and the acting in this scene are just perfect and the dialog: "You'll be my pick-up; Tell mama, tell mama all" so romantic and George (Monty) is already doomed.

  • Im 25 would anyone have an opinion on actors & movies today vs back then?

  • @Thet3 Some are great--for good reason--and others, some of whom are still around, weren't but benefited from studio publicity. I recommend you do a lot of looking and form your own opinion. Your own good taste won't let you down.

  • THE most beautiful couple to ever hit the silver screen! Such a classic film, and such great acting - especially from Monty. Thanks for the post!

  • Montgomery Clift and Elizabeth Taylor are the greatest on screen romance of all time.

  • I cannot explain my emotion when i have seen this film for the first time . Its a film who change your life for always An emotion hard to explain Wonderful ! ! ! Thank you ! ! !

  • Young Elizabeth Taylor is not acting here. In real life, she was in love with Montgomery Clift at this point in time.

He, though, did not love her. They did, however, remain the very best of friends throughout their lives. His nick name for her was "Bessie Mae," and she always turned to him for advice.

  • @73SuperDuty455Red are you just writing words or did you know Elizabeth Taylor personally. I've read just about every book written on her and watched every interview she gave and I never heard her say or read for that matter that she loved montgomery in a romantic way. She's always said that from the moment they met it was platonic...you must be confused on the fact that hollywood wanted to make it seem as though they were a couple because being gay back then wouldn't sell.

  • @pokergalpoker No, I did not know Ms. Taylor personally.

And, no, I was not just 'writing words,' as you have indicated.

I have prepared a statement to back up my post, and if you have an e-mail, I will send it to you.

Good discussions on Ms. Taylor are always worthwhile.

  • @73SuperDuty455Red Sadly, back then a handsome leading man too be gay was not tolerated by Hollywood, Clift lived a very closeted gay life.

  • i hated the fucking ending

  • wasnt monty a gay fellow? The funniest thing I ever saw was Monty knocking John Wayne down in a movie fight..lol

  • @Greenhornet270 yeah he was. I heard Wayne was a jerk to him because of that.

  • great film and montys performance was truly great, nominated the same year as the brilliant brando who was also nominated for streetcar, who gets best actor, bogart i think? just shows how much the oscars r full of shit! monty was a great actor like brando an shame he never one one cos he deserved to, this performance showed why, great film!

  • Clift's naturalistic acting is certainly a stark contrast to Taylor's "oh I love you ever so much" crap

  • You can get this mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • She was 19.She was born in 1932. and this movie (great movie) is from 1951.

Monty - one of the best and most underrated actors of all time.

  • @Cleon29Warrior Actually she is younger. Because the film was shot in 1949, before her marriage to Nicky Hilton. It was not released until 1951.

  • She was 17. She is flawless. Then and now.

  • She was 17. She is flawless. Then and now.

  • They are both so beautiful.

  • god he was such a heart throb

  • Amazing that Elizabeth was just 17. Ridiculous beauty.

  • this is such a sad movie at the end but it is sooo good

  • Is this the Indian Bollywood version of 'I am dancing in the rain' ... ?

  • @iraqi1960 That suppost to be funny?

  • Wow..what pro's the both of them...and of course, the direction and camerawork...all create such intensity...fabulous.

Fascinating how the shoulder hides the kiss till the last second....

Stevens really like a poet with this scene.

  • Are you dreaming of your own place in the sun ...I may have the properrty for you from great value studios to villa you can influence the design of. I can promise you fabulous sea views on this all year round island of Love, Cyprus. To find out more call Shashi on 0035796697384.

  • Monty love Monty love this movie and it part of my collection Liz look so pretty

  • Swooning close ups of possibly the two most beautiful people ever... even though Monty was either bi or gay, I can't help but wonder what any babies they could have made would have looked like

  • @rubytuesdaygypsy i was thinking the exact same thing. Their kids would surely have been knock-outs!!!

  • @pmacerato827 Word!

  • "You'll be my pick-up" Liz lets us see Angela turn from a girl into a woman in that very instant. Amazing acting. I think she matches Monty every step of the way.

  • there's never a bad angle to photograph liz's face.. its PERFECTION

  • Wheeew, I'm feeling sooo faint. If only a man could like at me the way monty looks at liz. wow. SOO ROMANTIC!! <3

  • Is it me or is it HOT in here? WHEW!!!

Good Lord these people are beautiful. And what can you say about Montgomery Clift as an actor except to say today's "actors" aren't fit to eat his underpants. Guy could make you believe anything. Geez.

  • Two of the most beautiful people ever on this earth .

This movie along with Picnic are my favorites

  • My two favorites !

One of my top favorite movies too.

  • Montgomery Clift was very beautiful !!

  • What a beautiful couple in an excellent film.

This film is one of my major faves...thanks:D

  • they are both so sublimely, supremely beautiful, and the music is sublime too

  • Liz is beautiful, but Monty's so gorgeous here, it hurts my eyes.

  • i have a camp on big moose lake... read the history of this tradgedy and you'll learn about big moose lake

  • Elizabeth had just recently learned her father was gay when this movie was filmed. Her father had a relationship with a studio designer. This knowledge caused her to form intense friendships with gay men that has lasted until this day.

  • He was so hot, and he was gay. Oh, Lord!

  • and she sounds all the time like a cat on a hot tin roof

  • Elizabeth Taylor set the standards for lasting star power, she was always late for movie sets, first to make a million, threw tantrums, glamour queen, larger-than-life celebrity, drop dead gorgeous, animal lover, enough said. She made it, while others are long forgotten, and she is still around to tell about it. She is now 77 years old, in a wheel chair, and remains this diamond-collecting diva with a vibrant personality. As a two time Oscar winner, she totally deserves her place in the sun.

  • Its just diffrent kind of film making.

Every decade has its good ones, me i like movies they made in the 70s, but it dosent mean that i cant appreciate a movie made in 30s or 90s.

  • I came to this film through the score. It strikes me that George (Clift) has a problem with women and probably with his mother. He's totally unable to say "no" to them. It seems he only gets attracted to women that are some sort of mother figures to him. Angela stands for the loving, caring, beautiful, healing, protecting side of mummy ("tell mama all"). Alice (Winters) stands for the punishing, reproachful side of mummy. He is "Poor George" as both women call him at one point.

  • Everthing about this scene is just pure romance.

I just love the background score. Thanks for sharing.

  • Look very closely at Liz' face at 1:06 - 1:13.

You can actually SEE her legendary double-set of eyelashes.

  • @mirrenmaniac it's her eyelashes' shadow.

  • she is so wow

  • BWAHAHAHAHA.

Actors today can't even dream about what being as natural as Montgomery Clift is like.

  • There's some truth to what you're saying; but this is a poor example. It's simply beautiful, both Taylor and Clift, and beauty may not seem "natural"; in a sense it's hyper-natural and that's difficult for the cynical reductionalist of 21st Century America.

  • They dont make pictures like that any more, and they dont have talent that that anymore.

  • you can't be that negative. it's not like people don't have any talent just because they weren't born in the early 20th century. they just make a different kind of movie now. Though I find the better performances tend to be in Indi films today.

  • masterpiece. i always cry when i see this scene

  • One of the most powerfully authentic scenes in all of cinema. ALL of the players deserve credit, not just Liz and Monty:

    1. George Stevens; probably one of the most under-rated directors of all time.

    2. Franz Waxman; as the score peaks and the scene climaxes, it's over-powering.

    3. William Mellor's lighting is exquisite.

    4. William Hornbeck's & Stevens' editing.

This film and this scene in particular are immortal, timeless ... a perfect example of film's power unlike any other art form.

  • @jp1713 THEY take my breath away!

  • This is what movies are all about !

  • Oh, what a man!!...what a man!!

  • he take my breathe away

  • a very nice movie indeed sir.

  • You can totally see Liz Taylor's face light up when he says I love you. Great acting by both of them. This movie is so so good

  • oh montgomery!!!!!

  • Such a beautiful, powerful scene. Monty is an incredible actor. his talent is beyond words. RIP.

  • He should have got the Oscar for this one. His performance is amazing! But unfortunately some great actors don't get recognized until they pass away.

  • I LOVE this scene! My favorite scene in a movie!

  • Sometimes, my life is like this...

But no matter what, I will always love my boyfriend

I just hope he knows how true to him I am

  • you ever read his bio?? so sad damn, liz was good to him bless her,his mother trying to please her husbands family BITCH! Monty class act did the right scripts it wasnt about money like now a days please

  • I don't know about you, but I'd make pretty much ANY movie, other than porn, for a million bucks!

  • Somebody please post this whole movie here on YT. I would watch this just to see La Taylor toss her elegant head like that.

Do you all know that this movie is a TRUE STORY ? Chester Gillette was indeed executed because of the drowning of Grace Brown in that lake. His family's wealth couldn't save him.

  • Liz e Monty: meravigliosi!!!

  • @deanclift

    assolutamente!

  • Just imagine if these 2 got together and had a baby....eventhough Elizabeth has openly admitted to being in love with dear Monty, it was all a lost cause as he was gay and never in those days allowed to express his true emotions. Of course that applies to soo many other stars of his generation.Dear Monty, you were one of the greatest and yet today never really appreciated for your true talent. If it wasnt for him, Dean and Brando the acting talent of today would not wuite be the same

  • Monty was gorgeous! He was the most beautiful man on the screen IMO and an amazing actor. Monty and Liz, the perfect couple on the screen. He was so talented. I love him. I have almost all his movies and I hoping have all of them.

  • Elizabeth Taylor was THE most beautiful woman of her generation. My God!

"Tell mama, tell mama all" Classic.

  • @NYerintransit

    oh, please.. XD

  • can someone download the whole movie?

  • I absolutely LOVE this scene!

  • If only real life were like this.

  • I don't envy the situation he put himself in...Have you seen the movie honey?...

  • Simplesmente maravilhoso. ´Remete-nos aos anos 50, despertando em nossos corações aquele amor e aquela alegria romantica que tanto alimentaram a nossa juventude. Excelente!!!

  • Liz is so beautiful it hurts.

  • @miisu

    and in "Suddenly.." too...

  • Her nose is perfect looking. lol I love old movies, especially romantic ones.

  • "I love you, it scares me" ... this is the reason Taylor is my favorite actress.

  • Ohhh...I love Monty. He´s my fav.actor at all I think he was a terrific actor and a gorgeous *gorgeous*man. I would had live on 1949
